@Lbw1292 You just want a time travel machine in these early days don't you!

Sympathies for all those sleeping badly. I'm waking up at 3am every morning and I'm exhausted by bedtime. And if anything wakes me up that's it, I'm awake for hours. DH is getting glared at for daring to use the toilet and disturbing me and DD got short shrift at midnight for being a drama queen about going back to bed. Think I might check myself into a hotel to sleep and leave the noisy pair of them behind haha.

@Housenoob Try to consider yourself lucky not to be feeling grotty, although I know it's hard when you just want to feel pregnant. I'm a couple of weeks behind you at 5+2 but other than insomnia and tiredness I don't really feel anything.

Belle26 · 21/08/2023 10:31

Hi everyone,

I'm due 22nd April with my first baby. I got my first clearblue pregnant 3+ today which had made me relax a little. How is everyone else feeling?

sugarplum33 · 21/08/2023 10:32

Oh and I've booked my midwife appointment this morning which is exciting! It's all starting to feel a bit more real :)

Lbw1292 · 21/08/2023 10:37

I totally understand why you are nervous if you are pregnant with your rainbow baby! But I was speaking to someone yesterday and she is pregnant with her second and she is still nervous. It must just be how everyone feels, so at least we all have each other!

I’m trying to take it one week at a time but it’s so hard to concentrate at work 😂 xx

Lbw1292 · 21/08/2023 10:38

Exciting! I’m so excited to book mine, I hope they ring me soon! Xx

CinderRosie · 21/08/2023 10:38

I'm jealous of anyone who has their midwife appointment booked already, I've done an online form and have to call when I'm 6 weeks when presumably they will actually book me in. I turn 6 weeks at the weekend then it's bank holiday so I can't call til next Tuesday. I work full time Monday-Friday so will need time off to attend which makes me wonder if I should tell my manager once I get the appt through as I'd get that time off for 'free' rather than using annual leave.

PerfectPairOfPlums · 21/08/2023 10:40

I rang the community midwife line this morning but had to leave a message. The automated message said they get back to you within 2 days... seems such a wait. But I have plenty of time yet

Lbw1292 · 21/08/2023 10:52

I had to complete a form too @CinderRosie ! Mine says they will contact me within 14 days.. well in 14 days I will be 7 weeks pregnant and then by the time I get an app, surely it will be at least 8 weeks?

part of me is wondering whether I should book a private scan because I have an ultrasound clinic 5 minutes away and it would cost £60 xx

sugarplum33 · 21/08/2023 10:58

@CinderRosie Mine is from 6 weeks too but although I'm dating myself 5+2, technically I'm 6+2 from my LMP which is what they go by at the start anyway so I thought I'd just get on and book it. It's completely up to you whether you tell work. I told my work the first time at 7 weeks as I went off with sickness and wanted it recorded as pregnancy related absence. They didn't keep it confidential though which really upset me.

@PerfectPairOfPlums I didn't get a time frame when I rang the main switchboard but the midwife called back within an hour so it may not be so long to wait! I got my first 'congratulations' from her 🥹

@Lbw1292 I think the booking in appointment is normally between 8-10 weeks so that would still be in plenty of time.

PerfectPairOfPlums · 21/08/2023 11:01

@Lbw1292 I am definitely going to have a private scan. Had some with my first so definitely want some with this one too.

Lbw1292 · 21/08/2023 11:17

@sugarplum33 i know it would be the right time for it but you just want some reassurance a bit sooner.. feel like I’ll be on pins waiting that long 😂

@PerfectPairOfPlums how early did you have one with your first? Xx

sugarplum33 · 21/08/2023 11:22

@Lbw1292 The first midwife appointment is a bit of an anticlimax anyway, just lots of paperwork and a few tests. If you want some reassurance then an early scan can be great. I had mine last time at 8 weeks and will book one for the same time this pregnancy. I read that if you see a healthy heartbeat at 8 weeks the chance of a successful pregnancy is as high as 98% so that seemed like a good time to choose for that reassurance.

Bluesky85 · 21/08/2023 11:27

@Lbw1292 i have my first appointment booked in and at that point I will be approx 10 weeks and 2 days. Feels quite late considering I filed out the form when I was 5 weeks!

fleur89 · 21/08/2023 11:27

It's another loss for me I'm afraid, wishing you all the best of luck 🤞
