congratulations to everyone on your positive scans!!🤍

I’m just over 11 weeks now and my hips and lower back have been so sore last night/today when I lie down/sit down, funnily they aren’t sore when I’m up and about walking. My midwife has just basically said this is normal, and that there’s not much you can do to ease it other than warm baths and trying a pregnancy pillow to support my back/hips. I was just wondering if anyone else has had this if this or any previous pregnancies, and if there are any magic tips?

I’m going to try warm bath tonight and have ordered a pillow, but I really need to get a comfy sleep tonight! X

Knock123 · 02/10/2023 18:18

@Mrsttcno1 in my last pregnancy I did get quite bad lower back pain but much further along. I actually went to physio and she recommended sitting on a birthing ball as much as possible, rolling forwards and backwards and doing figure of 8s. I also did prenatal yoga which showed me some safe stretches to do.

I hate how we get brushed off being told it's 'normal'. If it is more pain than ache, and you have the means to do so, I would recommend seeing a physio specialising in maternity as soon as you can as these things often get worse.

Mrsttcno1 · 03/10/2023 08:52

Thank you @Knock123 I’m going to look into that today! The warm bath and propping pillows between my legs and behind me really helped last night and the aches are more or less totally gone today so maybe it was just a bad patch! But I’m definitely going to try and find a physio specialising in maternity now, I was speaking to my friend last night who was pregnant last year and with the same hospital I’m with. She was referred to physio by the hospital and that turned out to be a telephone appointment and an email with some stretches on! So I’m definitely going to try and find something myself just incase x

Just had our scan and saw a healthy, wriggly baby measuring 11+6. EDD 17th April 🥰

theodora2146 · 03/10/2023 16:36

Thank you everyone!

So nice to hear about everyone else's positive scans! 🥰

XenaTheWarriorPrincess · 03/10/2023 16:37

Congrats on everyone's scans so far! I'm a little behind most of you at just over 10 weeks as I'm an end of April due date, but just got my appointment through for the dating scan for the 18th 😊

I'll be 12+3, 2 weeks to wait which seems like forever but hoping it goes quick.

Also got all the bloods back and know my blood group now for the first time in my 32 years 😅

Misty84 · 03/10/2023 17:17

Congratulations @sugarplum33, amazing! 🥰

Yikes @XenaTheWarriorPrincess, that makes me realise I don’t know my blood group, and I’m 39! 🤪

Ttcmumma · 03/10/2023 17:50

I have a 5 year old and still couldn't tell you my blood group... I clearly didn't pay attention last time. I was honestly in lala land when I had him 😅 will check when I get these bloods back haha

sweetdreams23 · 03/10/2023 18:03

Great to hear about everyone’s scans! Mine was booked for when I was 13 wk 5 days but midwife wasn’t happy I was given that date due to the screening having such a small timeframe so she managed to get it moved forward a week so I’m glad I don’t have as long to wait now… 5 days to go

Pinkstuffs · 03/10/2023 18:10

@sweetdreams23 my scan is booking for 13+1, I didn’t know there was a timeframe. Do you know what the limits are? It was originally in for 12 weeks but my DH is going away so I had to move it back! The hospital didn’t say anything when I rearranged it.

XenaTheWarriorPrincess · 03/10/2023 18:14

Just needs to be before 14 weeks @Pinkstuffs so yours should be fine.

It's quite common to measure a day or two ahead of your initial edd, so it's possible that if you have the scan at 13+5 or 13+6 that your babe will be too big to do the screenings.

sweetdreams23 · 03/10/2023 18:15

I think the combined testing needs to be done by 14 weeks. She was just concerned that if I was measuring even a couple of days ahead they wouldn’t have been able to do it. Your dates will be fine I’m sure :)

Ttcmumma · 03/10/2023 18:37

I measured 5 days ahead on Monday, 13 weeks instead of 12+2. Baby was constantly moving so may not have been accurate but definitely good to have a little bit of a gap between the scan and the cut off point for tests just incase you're further along than you thought. My next scan is now in 7 weeks when by LMP I would be 19+2 but off this week's scan I'll be bang on 20 weeks x

KatieJ345 · 03/10/2023 20:22

@XenaTheWarriorPrincess I have my dating scan on the 18th too! Will be 12+6 then.

sugarplum33 · 04/10/2023 06:21

Thank you @Misty84 ❤️

Alice4875 · 04/10/2023 09:30

I have my 12 week scan today in the afternoon.
From LMP I should be 12+2 but I did have an early scan at what I thought was 8+4 and baby was measuring 7+4. I do have slightly irregular periods so potentially ovulation is not when would usually be expected.
Really nervous for the scan as apart from sore boobs on and off and some mild food aversions I don't have my symptoms and I'm worried something is wrong.

Knock123 · 04/10/2023 11:12

@Alice4875 I wouldn't focus on the previous measurement, they can't accurately date at that stage because the baby is so tiny. I have had a few scans with the consultant since 6 weeks and the dates have jumped about each time.

I totally understand your anxiety, I hope it brings you some comfort to know that most women feel anxious before scans, whether they have had terrible sickness or not, so you're truly not alone.
Mild food aversions and sore boobs on and off are still symptoms, another symptom is no period!
I have lots of friends who have said the only symptom they had was they were a little bit tired and they have gone on to have healthy babies.

On the other hand, I have had 2 miscarriages and had terrible sickness with both those pregnancies, even after the miscarriage was complete, so symptoms really don't mean anything.

Good luck for later, I hope you have someone coming with you to hold your hand?

Knock123 · 04/10/2023 11:15

Also I remember talking to one of my friends with kids when I was pregnant with my daughter, telling her how anxious I was and she said 'welcome to motherhood!' and she was totally right. Once you get pregnant the worry is always there, it just changes through your child's life. Now pregnant with my second and I am much more relaxed!

Thank you!
All was well at the scan, estimated at 11+4 with a due date of April 20 at the point.
Very relieved!

sweetdreams23 · 04/10/2023 17:28

How’s everyone’s bumps? I’m very petite and mine has definatly changed from bloat to a definate (very small) bump now as it’s there all day! Just around 12 weeks now, 2nd baby. Similar timing to last time I was showing around 13 weeks x

Hopefulfirstround · 04/10/2023 18:26

Anyone get scared that the baby will just have disappeared on the next scan . I’m 14+3 weeks now and due another scan next Friday and I’m just so scared it’s all in my head

Butterfliesandroses · 04/10/2023 19:06

@sweetdreams23 unfortunately my whole body seems to absorb the bumps in my pregnancy, so I have relatively small bumps while the rest of me gets bigger 🫠. I'm 14 weeks and expecting the same this time! X

Ttcmumma · 04/10/2023 19:26

@sweetdreams23 I have a fairly noticeable bump already, around 13 weeks but I never fully lost my bump from my MMC in January so I don't think that helps it look larger than it should. Plus 3rd pregnancy so assuming I'll show quicker

Bluesky85 · 04/10/2023 21:03

@sweetdreams23 I’m 14 weeks and my bump seems huge! Unless I wear a really baggy jumper it’s blatantly obvious! I don’t understand why it’s so big when the baby is still so small!

Knock123 · 05/10/2023 10:23

Didn't get a bump last time until about 25 weeks, this time I have had the bloat which feels like it's starting to go down a bit but no sign of a bump so I think/hope it'll be the same as last time.

I've had covid the last few days, apart from the horrible covid symptoms it's made me very, very sick. I havent even been able to keep anti sickness medication down and thought I was going to have to go to hospital yesterday for dehydration but managed to slowly sip away at some water. Feeling slightly better today so hoping I am through the worst of it. Definitely sounds like it's going round though so be careful everyone.
