I feel your pain! Itโ€™s small things setting me off. Havenโ€™t even attempted a conversation about names yet as I donโ€™t think this has sunk in properly for OH. Donโ€™t feel silly Iโ€™m sure he understands! What a lovely reaction from your kids to news. Nice idea with the mugs too

Dannic2018 · 18/07/2023 20:12

Has anyone had their Maternity exception certificate? Iโ€™ve had mine emailed to me today! I donโ€™t think I got it with my ds until I saw my midwife and she hand wrote it! So from the 18th June until January 2025 Iโ€™m except ๐Ÿ˜€

LydiaWalker93 · 18/07/2023 20:13

@Dannic2018 I was told I don't get it until I'm 20 weeks preg

Kalodin · 18/07/2023 20:16

Got mine an hour after my booking appointment at 8 weeks via email @Dannic2018

Noodle89 · 18/07/2023 20:29

@lilluce95 yh I want sure if it would wrap round fully.. I like them really long so I can hug it and have it between my legs but then I want something to go round and support my back so I can stop myself from rolling onto my back all the time. Only have a small double though so think the 9ft would be too big with me and hubby both in the bed ๐Ÿ˜„

Noodle89 · 18/07/2023 20:30

@Dannic2018 also had mine while at my booking appointment this time round.. with all my others I had to wait till I think it was around 20-25 weeks till my midwife sent off for it. So different this time round

PartRadish · 18/07/2023 20:58

I'd had it by now in my other pregnancys but nothing this time round. Asked whole I was at the GP and they said ask midwife. Rang midwives and they said remind them at my 16 week appointment. Tiny bit grumpy about it because I'm now onto my third progesterone prescription and I know ยฃ30 isn't life changing money but still, every little helps at the moment!

RG9895 · 18/07/2023 21:00

I got my certificate the day of my booking appt where I was 8 weeks, not used it yet though as cant get a bloody dentist appointment!

I've also ordered my pregnancy pillow and I am so excited!

Hummusanddipdip · 18/07/2023 21:08

I havent had mine either yet actually thinking about it... Midwife said she'd email it to me after my booking in, so far nothing.

Although when I picked up my aspirin, when I was asked why I was prescribed it (new to me medication) they didn't charge me for the prescription. I thought they need the certificate to do that?

Mummyme87 · 18/07/2023 21:24

I havenโ€™t applied for my exemption cert. Apparently itโ€™s all online now. Need to find a midwife that can sort it for me in case I need prescriptions.

Matildahoney · 18/07/2023 21:32

The midwife booking team did my exemption certificate before my booking in appointment. I've been on higher dose folic acid since my first pregnancy last June!
Those of you on aspirin, you can get it for 79p, the same lady requested mine 3 times, but my GP has never processed it, so I've had to buy it but it's so cheap I don't mind

ThomasinaLivesHere · 18/07/2023 21:41

@TunnocksTCake Thanks, Iโ€™m sure youโ€™re right, loving the child will make loving the name easy.

Bims2019 · 18/07/2023 21:49

Midwife filled in their part of the maternity exemption form at my booking appointment, I then had to fill in my details and send it off by post. It came back pretty quickly though!

@Matildahoney hope your 16 week appt goes well tomorrow, I'm weirdly nervous and excited about it!

Love all the name chat, we have a few girls names we like but are really struggling with boys. It's so tricky and apparently we have very different taste! I'm taking it as another sign that baby is going to be a boy ๐Ÿ˜‚

Matildahoney · 18/07/2023 21:59

Thanks @Bims2019 you too!
I had my first cervical scan today, so got to see baby and heartbeat again! It was really nice, at our 12 week it kept fidgeting, today it was just chilled, I think cos I'd just eaten ๐Ÿคฃ

lilluce95 · 18/07/2023 22:19

@Noodle89 yeah I'm the same as you, didn't want it taking up too much room in the bed but this one is perfect ๐Ÿ˜‚ let me know how you get on with the 9ft one!! X

Kalodin · 19/07/2023 07:26

Tell me your tips on hiding a bump! I've tried on all my clothes today and everything seems to bloody show it. Even when I suck in, there's still an obvious bump.

buckingmad · 19/07/2023 07:29

Sitting a 4 hour exam today for my chartered accountancy qualification ๐Ÿ™„ not ideal when youโ€™re still a bit queasy and still getting over a bad cold! God knows if my bladder will hold out but itโ€™s way too time pressured to waste time peeing!

A nice pay rise relies on passing this exam so am feeling the pressure ๐Ÿ˜ญ

Hummusanddipdip · 19/07/2023 07:54

You've got this @buckingmad

No idea @Kalodin but I gave up about a week ago. My PE top is a men's L and that shows it now too ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ

Mushroo · 19/07/2023 07:59

@buckingmad i remember the accountancy exams well and the lack of time to pee!

My advice is if you need to oee, just do it, or you end up distracted for ages debating whether to go! (I ran to the loo in the middle and wasnโ€™t even pregnant).

Youโ€™ll be fine - good luck!

Flossiepot · 19/07/2023 08:16

Good luck @buckingmad - I've also already got my pregnancy pillow DH got it to stop me rolling over and it's really helped, I can't sleep with my head on it though as it's too hard so for the nights I use it upside down ๐Ÿ™ˆ Also got my Mat B form at my booking appointment. (I've missed so much in the last 24hours)

lilluce95 · 19/07/2023 08:20

Good luck @buckingmad!!

@Kalodin I've also given up trying to hide it. My first day back in the office today since the bumps really started to show so I'll just embrace it ๐Ÿ˜‚ I have found anything that is snug around your waist/just under your boobs and then flows out usually works though! Like a peplum top or a flowy dress x

Flossiepot · 19/07/2023 08:32

Sorry not Mat B - the exempt certificate ๐Ÿ˜น
Has anyone whos on their first pregnancy for a bump yet? I feel im really starting to show but getting paranoid that it's just chub ๐Ÿ™ˆ
Hope you're all doing well.

Flossiepot · 19/07/2023 08:33

*got. Goodness me I need to go back to bed today ๐Ÿ™ˆ

Bims2019 · 19/07/2023 08:50

@Flossiepot yep, it's my first and I'm showing! Some of it is chub but there's a definite bump there too. I can still hide it with loose tops if I want to, but have also started wearing tighter things that show it when I feel like it. It is weird though!

Mushroo · 19/07/2023 09:00

@Flossiepot definitely a bump for me. Although I can suck it in a bit which implies itโ€™s partly due to my complete lack of core strength rather than a huge baby.

Its been noticeably bigger this week though (16 weeks)
