I think I have my girls name already. Had it for a long time, itโ€™s boy names that are the challenge.

LozzieLoo · 14/07/2023 12:35

I have a cervical scan booked at 16 weeks, does anyone know if we get to see baby during that? And can we find out the gender at that scan or do you have to wait for the 20 week scan?

youaremysunshine03 · 14/07/2023 12:58

We have no names! We decided our DDโ€™s name really early on as Iโ€™d liked it since I was a child and sheโ€™s sort of named after family members. This time around weโ€™re clueless! Every girls name I suggest he just gives a โ€œmehโ€ face, we also went through the top 100 boys names and he said no to every single one ๐Ÿ˜‚ canโ€™t say I particularly love any either this time around!

Two weeks today until we can find out the gender then think about it a bit more seriously.

We have our first cervical length scan booked for 16 weeks too, then every two weeks after that. The sonographer at our 12 week scan told me they will have a very quick perk at baby just for reassurance at the beginning. Our trust don't tell you the sex unless you pay for a separate appointment after 20 weeks. I know this varies by area though.

PartRadish · 14/07/2023 14:08

We were sorted for a boys name, which is quite the achievement seeing as we already have 3! Now we know it's a girl we have zero girls names. We've never talked names until we knew the sex so we've just never even looked at girls names before. Going to have a look at the app mentioned above. I used Nymbler with my older two which was brilliant but it seems to have gone now!

Onedayatatime24 · 14/07/2023 14:10

We have a list of a few names but nothing set in stone! Might pick a couple we like then see what they look like when they're here.

Also sorry if this is a stupid question... Has anyone started gaining weight yet? I've gained nothing so far (but already have high bmi so glad about that) - just wondering if I should be concerned that I'm not gaining?

Luhou · 14/07/2023 14:11

We've got a few names, mostly girls names. I think my DH doesn't see the point in thinking to much about it until we know the gender.

I've got my scan this afternoon. Excited and a bit nervous!

PartRadish · 14/07/2023 14:15

The main thing we're struggling with at the moment is prams. We've always just had Bugaboos before. Eldest and middle had the same Cameleon then a Bee from about 12 months and with youngest we had the Donkey because he was on home oxygen until he was nearly 2 and the tank fit perfectly in the side basket. Then he had a Fox afterwards which we actually still have and the carrycot is still in the packaging.

The problem this time is they're huge when folded, especially with the carrycot and we need something to fit it alongside one, sometimes two, wheelchairs in a Peugeot 5008 with two car seats and two tall older boys ๐Ÿฅด. I think we might need a roof box for the wheelchairs because I just can't see how it's all going to fit!

Kalodin · 14/07/2023 14:34

Last time I had cervical scans and yes, each time they checked on baby @LozzieLoo And yes, mine told me the sex at the one approx 16weeks.

sashastuck · 14/07/2023 16:29

Weโ€™ve had our boy name picked for a looong time before we conceived but are really struggling for a girl name after the dog incident! It was the only name we both loved!

We have talked about shopping but to be honest itโ€™s me actually telling him what we need. Heโ€™s starting a new job in Sept so I think when he feels he can contribute more heโ€™ll be happier to get involved. I ordered a baby bath in the Mamas & Papas sale, couldnโ€™t resist!

@Onedayatatime24 I was thinking about this yesterday.

RG9895 · 14/07/2023 16:34

We have had our girls name for years but always struggled with boys names so we went through the app and been pretty set on it since I was super early on! We have middle names too โ˜บ๏ธ

Sorry if I am being stupid but whats a cervical scan? I've never heard of this and whats it for?

suz2285 · 14/07/2023 16:55

@Onedayatatime24 I've not put on anything yet either but if you're overweight you're not needing to gain as much anyway, it's not recommended to gain too much until way later on so not to worry at this stage! You'll gain when you need to ๐Ÿ˜‚

Dannic2018 · 14/07/2023 17:00

We have our gender scan next Saturday and I am convinced itโ€™ll be another boy as my hubby has all boys on his side but heโ€™s hoping for a girl. Iโ€™d love another name with a R so have a girls one and a middle name in tribute to my dad but not sure on boys names. I just want to know so I can be organised on buying as money is stretched with renovations in the house. Poor baba will be in our room for a while so no nursery, even though we have a 4 bed Iโ€™ve got 3 children and no one can share currently ๐Ÿ˜ฉ

Kalodin · 14/07/2023 17:27

Not stupid if you don't know @RG9895 - some women will require their cervix checked via a scan, typically to see the length or if it's starting to open at the top. It's typically required for those who have needed some sort of operation on their cervix and those who are at risk of pre term birth

FirstT1meMum · 14/07/2023 17:34

@Onedayatatime24 I've not gained anything yet but also too have a high bmi. I think I could still potentially have lost a pound or so but not sure! Presuming that it's all okay!! Every little thing is so worrying isn't it?!

Ttcdcno1 · 14/07/2023 17:49

Has my blood results back from the screening on the badger notes app this morning.. I take it this is good right?

Due January Part 4! ๐ŸŽ‰
LittleAlien24 · 14/07/2023 18:19

@Lightningrain my OH only participates in choosing names lol other thing go to way that I'll send him pictures of items and he says ok, meh, goid etc lol
@ThomasinaLivesHere if it would be up to my OH then poor child would have a name from star wars ๐Ÿ˜‚

We have agreed on a middle name for a girl, it's a tribute to my nanny ๐Ÿ˜Š well he even said we can used it as just a name because we not sure will we have middle name for baby or not

Matildahoney · 14/07/2023 18:32

I've put on half a stone, but I did go from an 800 calorie a day diet to get my BMI down, to eating normally, so that's to be expected!
As for buying things I don't want to buy anything until I'm past 20 weeks! A family member had everything by the time she was 15 weeks!
For those with cervical scans, my first one isn't until 18 weeks, but I know I've had 26mm of cervix removed in the past 10 years or so ๐Ÿ˜ฌ

Onedayatatime24 · 14/07/2023 18:38

@suz2285 ahh okay, thanks! Google is so conflicting ๐Ÿ˜‚

@FirstT1meMum I know, never thought I'd worry about NOT putting on weight ๐Ÿ˜‚ I've also lost a couple of pounds since my booking appointment, I guess no booze and I've not wanted sweet stuff. I was thinking baby should be growing so I should be gaining but then I checked my app and it said baby is about 50 grams or something soooo just preggo brain being nuts again.

buckingmad · 14/07/2023 19:19

I didnโ€™t really put on weight with my first until well into second/third trimester. Youโ€™re using a huge amount of energy growing the baby plus weird diet and baby is still relatively light/placenta is small at the moment.

Youโ€™ll put it on, trust me ๐Ÿ˜‚ I put on 3 stone, went from 7.5 to 10.5 stone.

sashastuck · 14/07/2023 19:47

Those of you who have been/are experiencing the insatiable hunger, are you giving into it some days? I really have overdone it today (well I havenโ€™t yet but DP said heโ€™d bring me home a pizza later and I didnโ€™t decline), I know Iโ€™ll feel so full and probably regretful later but Iโ€™ve just been starving all day!! Itโ€™s normal for appetite to increase isnโ€™t it?

LittleAlien24 · 14/07/2023 20:17

@sashastuck yes im giving in when feeling hungry or starting to feel it. If i don't i feel sick. I can't eat bigger portions like i used to so now have to eat more often.

ThomasinaLivesHere · 14/07/2023 20:20

@sashastuck Iโ€™ve been giving into it and not feeling that guilty about it. I suppose that pregnancy is a good excuse for giving in to it ๐Ÿ˜‚

@LittleAlien24 haha my husband is also a fan of Star Wars Iโ€™m sure he would use a name from it too ๐Ÿ˜‚

Thereโ€™s still lots of time to agree on a name but I hope we come up with something before birth. We sort of have the middle names chosen.

Luhou · 15/07/2023 06:51

I'm still on tiny portions over here. I feel like I am getting my apetite back a bit and have startef fancying stuft a bit more. Last night I fancied a dominos vegi supreme but a few slices in -I was done.

Had my scan yesterday, went well and feels much more real now. Looking forward to telling everyone over the weekend xx

RaspberryTime · 15/07/2023 06:52

Got my long awaited screening results yesterday. For anyone whoโ€™s wanting comparisons: <1 in 5000 for all three and Iโ€™m 39 years old. The relief is real!
