@suz2285 ohhh fair enough, I didn't realise they had to do that, what a pain! I did wonder why they bother with it if they're not going to publish anything in it, seems a bit of a waste!

Mummyme87 · 11/07/2023 13:55

Booking blood results, like HIV/hepatitis/syphillis/full blood count etc you will get at next midwife appt unless thereโ€™s a problem.

we still have a car seat from other two, but they both screamed blue murder most of the time in it and we do long journeys up and down the country. I know the Joie 360 is supposed to be good and lasts until about age 4. We need to buy a new car seat for between 12m-4yrs as last one broke. Ah decisions

suz2285 · 11/07/2023 14:03

@Onedayatatime24 yeah it seems ridiculous but knowing the nhs systems it's really the same everywhere no systems talk to each other ๐Ÿ˜‚ so yeah I think she said they'll call if there's an issue but don't expect the results to be on there quickly! So that's handy

Speaking of which i left mine a voicemail on Friday, bank hol yesterday and I was hoping to get a call today but nothing yet ๐Ÿ˜‚ need to get booked in for that other blood test, and I'd like to do it asap!!

TunnocksTCake · 11/07/2023 14:03

@Kalodin We are still on paper here too, I like it! Though an extra thing to remember to take with you! I am assuming no news is good news too.

@Mummyme87 We have a Joie 360 and I love it, however I only recently realised that my DD is almost too tall for it, shes not even 3 yet (but very tall for her age!) so we will need a new one for her! Shame really as it really does save my back but I guess she can clamber in herself now.

We kept EVERYTHING from DD to the point where DH is hoping that its another girl so we dont have to buy any new clothes!! We will need a buggyboard though and a new bouncer - that is the one thing I sold as I got it off Fb marketplace and I was sick of looking at it!! We will have so much space in our attic when this new one grows out of all the baby stuff and we can finally sell it!

Mummyme87 · 11/07/2023 14:08

@TunnocksTCake we are on paper aswell. I prefer it.

actually we donโ€™t have a bouncer either. Canโ€™t remember what I did with the last one

Lightningrain · 11/07/2023 14:13

@Lilothblos thanks for the heads up. I hadnโ€™t really looked at baby monitors but this looks like a great deal.

It sounds like few people are on baby number 2 (or more!). This is our first so we have absolutely nothing baby related. We donโ€™t plan on moving house either so I think having a dedicated nursery for baby related things to live will help to keep the rest of the house a bit tidier.

My thought was to buy a few little bits here and there when I see something on offer but Iโ€™m sure DH would be happy to buy everything a couple of weeks before the due date. I think spreading the cost will definitely help though.

Onedayatatime24 · 11/07/2023 14:17

@suz2285 I'm so impatient I just hate waiting for stuff like this, especially when I know the results are in the system somewhere, I just can't see them!! I bet it's so second nature to the midwives that they're like meh what's an extra week or two, but feels like an eternity to me. ๐Ÿ˜‚ Hope you get the call back soon to get your bloods booked in!

I'm still too hesitant to buy anything big, we said we'd buy some clothes and small bits and bobs when we get the screening results back, but probably won't buy prams, car seats etc. until after the 20 week scan. Would love to be more organised but I still feel like I'm going to jinx it! Stupid I know ๐Ÿ™ˆ

suz2285 · 11/07/2023 14:21

@Onedayatatime24 that's exactly right! I keep checking mine! It's the same with this phone call they'll be thinking ah we've got weeks to do the bloods but I don't have any reassurance until they've done them! I'll be at my 20 week scan before them at this rate tbh ๐Ÿ˜ฉ

I'm the same re buying things, it doesn't feel real still to be, I'm not buying anything until way later on ๐Ÿ˜‚ haven't even looked at a baby grow or anything!! Just trying to get though one day at a time

TunnocksTCake · 11/07/2023 14:21

@Onedayatatime24 I was like that with my first, partly due to covid which I kept hoping would go away so I could try prams out in person! There is plenty of time so no need to rush, just maybe start putting money aside then you can go on one big blow out!

We are going to be seriously outgrowing our house when this one arrives (planning an extension in afew years) so going to try to keep spending to a minimum!!

Bims2019 · 11/07/2023 14:29

The only thing I've bought so far is one little baby outfit I found at the weekend and couldn't resist. It still feels too soon to look at bigger things and I'm banking on there being lots of time late to worry about all that! ๐Ÿ˜‚

I'm 15 weeks today and absolutely knackered. Is anyone else's sleep really disrupted at the moment? I've been trying to do all the right things to help get ready for bed, meditation, warm drinks, not looking at phone etc, but then I'm wiiiide awake! And when I do get to sleep I'm having the craziest dreams and getting up twice for a wee. Where's this elusive second trimester glow??

Lightningrain · 11/07/2023 14:31

@Onedayatatime24 and @suz2285 Iโ€™ve definitely had that feeling of not getting ahead of myself but I think now that weโ€™ve told family and friends and got the screening results back it all seems more real.

Other people are asking about names, whether weโ€™ll find out if itโ€™s a boy or girl, what weโ€™re buying (particularly friends with babies) and it almost seems as if Iโ€™m being silly by feeling like itโ€™s too early. When I saw the prime day email I was definitely tempted to see if there are any bits on offer! I think Iโ€™ll stick to my initial idea of buying small things here and there but wait until much closer to the time for the bigger purchases.

Lightningrain · 11/07/2023 14:34

@Bims2019 Iโ€™m exactly the same with sleep and only a couple of days behind you! Iโ€™m eagerly awaiting the second trimester glow that everyone speaks of as well.

I have a sleep tracker app on my watch and Iโ€™m rarely getting above 5 hours of actual sleep. The nighttime wee trips have reduced over the last week or so but itโ€™s still at least 3 and Iโ€™m wide awake between 5-6am every morning.

suz2285 · 11/07/2023 14:45

@Lightningrain that's exactly how I feel and we haven't got any screening results other than 'looks fine' ๐Ÿ˜‚ we've told close family now and everyone's asking stuff but it feels so early still , this week is absolutely dragging for me.... eugh! And I'm stuck in a panic about having no reassuring blood work... and not really being able to do much about it, though I believe everything 'seems' fine ๐Ÿ™ˆ

sashastuck · 11/07/2023 14:47

@Bims2019 YES regarding sleep, last night was the worst Iโ€™ve had in ages. Up for a wee twice, wide awake at 3am for no reason, too hot then too cold with fan, it was awful.

@RG9895 and @Matildahoney so happy about your low risk results. @RG9895 I didnโ€™t take note (although Iโ€™m sure Iโ€™ll find it in my notes) of my results although I know she said it was all low risk ๐Ÿคž๐Ÿผ

Iโ€™ve been buying clothes now, as itโ€™s our first weโ€™ll probably need to start from scratch. Weโ€™ll get some hand me downs from my partnerโ€™s new nephew but 1) we could have a girl and 2) I donโ€™t to bank on them giving us lots as they may choose not to. I ordered an adorable sleep suit from Jojo Maman Bebe, theyโ€™ve got a decent sale on! Thanks for the monitor recommendation. X

Onedayatatime24 · 11/07/2023 15:02

@suz2285 I can handle all the symptoms and feeling tired, it's the waiting around for info that really gets to me so can only imagine how you're feeling about the bloods and screening tests.

@TunnocksTCake That's a great idea about putting money away. We've started saving for my mat leave but not really got a pot for baby bits! Will start that now (add it to the list of about 6 savings pots I have on the go atm!).

@Lightningrain Glad it's not just me! Definitely think I won't be able to resist some tiny socks but big things can wait. Worst case, there's always next day delivery. ๐Ÿ˜…

@Bims2019 My sleep has been all over the place! Up until last week (when I got to about 12+5), I was up every single night for a wee. Seems to be easing off the last few nights but not sure if it'll last as I'm still as thirsty as ever. Also had crazy vivid dreams from day one and I never really had dreams before (or never remembered them). I seem fine getting to sleep but then toss and turn all night and can't get comfy. I seem knackered either way, even when I get a full 8 hours tbh so not sure it makes a difference. ๐Ÿ˜‚

Noodle89 · 11/07/2023 15:35

@TunnocksTCake we were doing the same. Been putting money away since we found out then unfortunately my husband was made redundant last month so had to use the money for food etc over last month. Hoping to replace it all once his redundancy comes through.

Need to get everything again this time round, baby #4 but our youngest is 7yrs old so don't have anything left ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™€๏ธ
Had a look on amazon and saw a baby wrap/sling don't to ยฃ22 so might see if I can get that. Other then that we have just bought a few little outfits so far! I'm hoping we won't need to pay too much for the big stuff as my friend has offered me her pram/car seat/baby swing etc so hopefully that happens.

Noodle89 · 11/07/2023 15:37

Is anyone else suffering with big headaches? Feels like I've had one everyday for past 2 weeks! Today's is particularly bad, paracetamol helps a bit but then comes back just as bad.. ๐Ÿ˜ซ roll on bed time hopefully I can sleep it off and it will go tomorrow

Bims2019 · 11/07/2023 15:44

@Lightningrain @sashastuck @Onedayatatime24 it's reassuring to know I'm not the only one, but really sorry you're all struggling with sleep as well. Last night was especially bad, just couldn't get comfy then too hot and too cold ๐Ÿ™„ can't win!

I've stopped wearing my fitbit at night, as it was depressing me seeing just how little actual time I was asleep for ๐Ÿ˜‚

cossie13 · 11/07/2023 16:03

12 week scan yesterday and measured 12+1! So relieved to have finally got to this point and to know that this weekend we'll be hitting the second trimester! We both feel like we can finally start enjoying this pregnancy ๐Ÿฅฐ

Anyone want to have a guess at gender?? โ˜บ๏ธ

Due January Part 4! ๐ŸŽ‰
ColinFromTheBar · 11/07/2023 16:24

Hi can I join you? Iโ€™m 11 weeks and due at the end of Jan. Definitely sympathising with the sickness people are feeling. Itโ€™s still making me feel awful but it lasted my whole previous 2 pregnancies so not sure why I expected anything different!

Lightningrain · 11/07/2023 16:25

@Noodle89 I woke up with a headache this morning and it got worse as the morning progressed. I took some paracetamol when it got so bad that I couldnโ€™t concentrate on work and then had half an hour of sleep in my lunch break which helped a bit. Iโ€™m also planning on getting an early night to try and sleep it off!

I had a list of housework jobs I wanted to get through on my lunch break as well so feeling very unproductive.

MrsJ6921 · 11/07/2023 16:36

My results were also this and Iโ€™m 26. Iโ€™m not worried as Iโ€™ve seen much higher chances!

sashastuck · 11/07/2023 16:43

@cossie13 aww lovely scan pic! Iโ€™m guessing girl x

@ColinFromTheBar congratulations!!

RaspberryTime · 11/07/2023 17:03

@Noodle89 Iโ€™ve got a really pounding headache this afternoonโ€ฆalthough it may be because I had the mother of all emotional meltdowns when I realised Iโ€™d washed a tissue in with my black clothes ๐Ÿ™ˆ๐Ÿ˜ฉ

FirstT1meMum · 11/07/2023 17:06

I'm another that's suffering with headache! Started yesterday although I do also feel very congested and have a terrible cold! ๐Ÿคง

DH has been lured into the Prime day! He's not bought anything from there yet but he keeps saying how cute things are so half expecting a big box to turn up before Friday...

I've had a notification through one of my NHS webs today with an appointment letter for anaesthetics...does anyone know what this is likely to be for? Is it normal to have this appointment? Really thrown me as midwife never mentioned speaking to them!
