FirstT1meMum · 09/07/2023 14:37

Having a wobbly emotions day today. I just wish I felt more pregnant, I'm 14 weeks today and still don't quite believe there's a baby in there! I feel so guilty feeling this way as all I've ever wanted is to start our family and now I just don't feel how I expected. I love having the scans and seeing the little one and then I ride a high for a few days but then because I've never really had any symptoms I always feel like it's a bit of a dream! Don't get me wrong, I'm so happy I'm pregnant and love knowing I'm havkng a baby. I'm hoping as I get further along its different! I've started trying to talk to baby as my app suggested but feel a bit...weird! Not quite sure what I'm after but just needed to write how I'm feeling somewhere with the hope someone else feels a little bit similar!

Kalodin · 09/07/2023 14:44

@FirstT1meMum Hopefully once you get a bump and can feel baby proper wriggling about things will change and you'll feel more pregnant. I always loved rubbing moisturiser over my bump and imagining my birth and those first few days as a way to connect.

Hope rest of your day passes smoothly and you get a good sleep tonight @Mummyme87

sashastuck · 09/07/2023 15:13

@FirstT1meMum I know how you feel. I donโ€™t really feel pregnant now but hold onto the joy that comes with knowing you are. Iโ€™ve been writing a journal since before we conceived to this baby - I doubt if Iโ€™d ever want them to read it but itโ€™s been a nice way to connect with them in a way. When you start seeing more of a bump and feeling baby it will be different โค๏ธ

@Mummyme87 sounds awful, sorry! I hope your day is flying by! ๐Ÿคž๐Ÿผ

buckingmad · 09/07/2023 15:31

@FirstT1meMum I promise once you start feeling little nudges and get a bump you will feel pregnant! First trimester/beginning of second really is rubbish. Lots of hormones, rubbish symptoms or panicking about lack of symptoms. Plus as you progress youโ€™ll have more midwife appointments, 20 week scan, maybe do NCT or something like that, buy more stuff etc so it becomes more part of every day life.

suz2285 · 09/07/2023 15:38

@FirstT1meMum I had all the symptoms in the first trimester but now I'm feeling more 'normal' but still crying all the time/stretchy feelings in the uterus etc but yeah it's so exciting seeing baby but it's hard to connect that with actually being a baby inside! I think because you can't feel/see anything yet! Also it's a huge change, I can't actually imagine the baby being an actual baby yet, being born, being here in the house with us, it's a lot to get your head around

I'm just trying to take each day as it comes right now and not looking too far ahead x

FirstT1meMum · 09/07/2023 15:42

@Kalodin @sashastuck @buckingmad @suz2285 thank you all so much, feel so much better knowing its somewhat normal to feel this way. I've spoken to DH and we're going to start thinking about the nursery and what we want it to be like. I've got a pregnancy journal I started filling in a couple of weeks ago but will try and do it daily. Thank you all for your advice, will definitely be doing them. We find out what we're having in just over 2 weeks so I'm hoping when I can call it my daughter or son not just 'baby' it'll feel more real too! Thank you again for the hand hold โค๏ธ

suz2285 · 09/07/2023 16:40

@FirstT1meMum I've got a pregnancy journal too, I'm struggling to write 'what we've been up to' cos we haven't been doing that much ๐Ÿ˜‚ working and then figuring out what I want to eat every day is bad enough tbh!!

FirstT1meMum · 09/07/2023 16:50

@suz2285 I think that's why it took me so long to start! I literally get up, work, come home, nap, eat, bed, repeat ๐Ÿคฃ

Kalodin · 10/07/2023 01:17

Fell asleep at 7pm and now wide awake and all hungry at 1am! Tempted to go make some food but also don't want to wake the kids. This illness has really messed with my sleep! Been weird all weekend with it.

Also keep thinking about my bloods hopefully coming back soon, excited to know if boy/girl! More I think about it, more I realise I would love a girl, although after 3 boys I'm sure it will be another boy! I'll be following in my Nan's footsteps with 4 boys.

Luhou · 10/07/2023 08:53

Hope you got back to sleep @Kalodin.

Anybody else strolling into the office this morning looking 6 months pregnant, pretending like they haven't noticed ๐Ÿคฃ trying to wait until my scan on Friday to say anything.

TunnocksTCake · 10/07/2023 10:03

@Luhou haha YES thats 100% me! Luckily its just me and my boss in the office and shes actually not coming in now, I was going to wait a few more weeks to tell but I don't think I can!

Is anyone else getting awful piles?! Sorry TMI - I had them towards the end of my last pregnancy and have had a tendency for them since and always found the behind the counter anusol works really well but you cant have it when pg๐Ÿ˜ฉThey fobbed me off with the 'natural' version thats safe but its not doing anything, I'm so uncomfortable. Any recommendations would be very happily received!

Nellynoo182 · 10/07/2023 10:13

Thanks for the new thread! How is everyone getting on?

We have our 12 week scan today which is exciting. Had the news that Iโ€™m Group Strep B Positive yesterday which was a bit worrying? Anyone else had this?

Weโ€™ve also been advised we may want to give birth in Stoke over Telford due to a history of premature birth with my DS and Stoke being a specialist hospital. Anyone given birth in Stoke or Telford and happy to share their experiences? Thank you โค๏ธ

TunnocksTCake · 10/07/2023 10:30

@Nellynoo182 yes I am also group B Strep positive - or was in September. From what I have been told it is a very common thing that comes and goes and the test you should get (we have to go private for it here) at 36/37 weeks (from memory) is the only one to worry about as it may well go away before then. Still an extra worry but the fact they had stickers for my notes made me feel a bit reassured that it must be so common if they get stickers for it!! I think if you have the IV antibiotics then it should be fine - just dont delay getting to hospital when the time comes I guess?

Redpanda21 · 10/07/2023 11:01

@TunnocksTCake speak to gp. Iโ€™ve been prescribed some pregnancy safe cream/ointment.

Nellynoo182 · 10/07/2023 11:01

Thanks @TunnocksTCake for sharing! I am on antibiotics now and have been told I will be given IV antibiotics through a drip regardless when I am in labour now. From googling it looks like itโ€™s fairly common so thatโ€™s a relief. I havenโ€™t been given a sticker yet though ๐Ÿคฃ

Onedayatatime24 · 10/07/2023 11:09

@FirstT1meMum I could have written that myself! Also didn't really have any symptoms and because I'm overweight I can't see any sign of a bump coming any time soon. Even my bloating seems to be getting better. I want to tell people but I think I still don't quite believe it myself! I didn't think about a pregnancy journal... Does it help? Let me know if you find anything. So tempted to book a 16 week scan too!

RG9895 · 10/07/2023 11:13

Is anyone else waiting for their combined screening results and feel like its taking forever? Hoping for good news and not sharing publicly until we have them. Been a week today and I'm getting so impatient!

lilluce95 · 10/07/2023 11:15

@Luhou this is me too!! I woke up this morning and I feel massive?!!! My sister even asked me if I was having twins ๐Ÿ˜…

Flossiepot · 10/07/2023 11:15

Yes @RG9895 - ours was a week last Friday. I even contacted the midwife who said they haven't even had the results back (which I know should be good news) but want to be told or see it in writing before we're announcing wider ๐Ÿ˜น it's driving me crazy

RG9895 · 10/07/2023 11:19

@Flossiepot glad its not just me! I have a midwife appt next Monday so if I don't have it then I will be asking! Hope you get yours soon! In the mean time we can be impatient together ๐Ÿ˜‚ every time the postman comes I run to the door hahaha wish they could make the process quicker!

suz2285 · 10/07/2023 11:32

@RG9895 if you haven't heard then it's likely good news! ๐Ÿฅณ it is annoying waiting for everything though! I'm waiting for the midwife to call me about getting the quad test but it's a bank holiday today! We just did our announcements after the scan cos we couldn't have the full testing and baby looked fine... I wanted to wait for bloods but since we'll not get them for weeks then we just had to decide ๐Ÿ˜‚

I feel massive today too, it's not baby tho it's too early! But I think it's the expanded uterus pushing everything else slightly up? I'm still the same weight but my tummy is def bigger and it's kinda uncomfortable to hold it in ๐Ÿ˜‚ my muscles are achy! And I prob shouldn't have hit those golf balls last night cos I def feel like I stretched all my sides ๐Ÿ™ˆ

lucya66 · 10/07/2023 11:34

Motion sickness

is anyone else experiencing motion sickness? Iโ€™ve had morning sickness since 6w3d and Iโ€™m now 15w2d. I am constantly nauseaus and I vomit some days, 1-5 times. Some days I retch, my stomach contracts but nothing comes outโ€ฆ usually after Iโ€™ve had a sickness tablet as if it stops the vomit itself. Not the feeling.

im noticing the actual vomit comes when I stand up and walk around, like motion causes the sickness. Is anyone else having this? Like I am getting dressed in the morning and the motion makes me run to vomit. Or I bend down to pick something up and the vomit comes.

anyone else noticing this is when they vomit?

or if I get in the car, I feel the need to pull over and vomit (but havenโ€™t yet).

RG9895 · 10/07/2023 11:51

@suz2285 that is very true! I keep trying to tell myself that too hahaha I dont blame you! I am very tempted to do the same but I think it cant be too much longer now ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿผ

I feel huge as well and its my first baby! Ive popped at the top and in my head I think thats probably just my intestines ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ

@lucya66 I read something the other day that said if you had motion sickness before then it can be a reason as to why you get morning sickness! Did you have it before? Ive always had bad car sick which is why I think I have bad nausea now still and I'm 14 weeks tomorrow and no sign of it going anytime soon, sometimes I actually think its getting worse! Hope you feel better soon!
