@ThomasinaLivesHere that's great news about the results! Just shows you never know Do you! It's all to do with hormones and chances and all sorts but it's drummed into us that age is the worst thing ๐Ÿ™ˆ๐Ÿ™ˆ

Mummyme87 · 07/07/2023 09:50

@ThomasinaLivesHere ah another boy, lovely congratulations. I have two boys. I good news on your super low risk result. Mine was much lower than I thought, was expecting a risk in the hundreds

LittleAlien24 · 07/07/2023 10:29

Im here trying not to cry. Im so heartbroken. My 18 year old went to work to another country for a summer with dad (deal was we get her working but she'll come back to finish her school). He just called me and said she's saying she doesn't want to finish her school, she has only 1 year left and she wants to stay there until after Christmas and come home then with him. I just can not imagine her not coming home for Christmas ๐Ÿ˜ข i know kids grow up but i wasn't ready for this on this Christmas.

Hey LittleAlien, try not to panic. Sounds like you need a proper chat with your daughter rather than her dad speaking for her. Sure you can persuade her of the need to finish school and that you want her home (at least for Christmas if not before). What's she working as?

LittleAlien24 · 07/07/2023 10:44

@WitcheryDivine thanks. that's the thing she'll rather talk to him than me, even tho we always got along and I've always been there. I've talked with her so many times that at least have your leaving cert and then take time off if you want to think what to do next but she said to him she feels like the weight of the world is on her shoulders with the school (she always done brilliant at school). She works as a security on concerts, festivals, golf tournaments etc

WitcheryDivine · 07/07/2023 10:48

Well then I guess it's up to him to persuade her then, but having her leaving certificate sounds like something she really should do. One more year is really not much. And if she wants to bounce straight back into doing security after that it'll still probably improve her chances of promotion etc.

Had our dating scan today! All looking good! Date has unbelievablely been moved forward another 3 days, crazy because baby already caught up 6 days between 6 weeks and 10 weeks, guess mine just start small ๐Ÿคท๐Ÿผโ€โ™€๏ธ Now due 16/1 so 12+3 today.

The legs were so, so long! And the head shape is identical to our 3 boys ๐Ÿ˜‚

Sonographer was so lovely and is going to chase my referrals to preterm clinic and the perinatal team because I've not heard anything yet, but she said that wasn't unusual because they do tend to like to wait until after the dating scan. Anomaly scan booked for 24th August.

NIPT told us girl and the nub does look very girly in this picture, the bladder is high too so I think I might start to believe it soon!

We're going to tell our boys later. I can't wait, keep welling up thinking about it ๐Ÿคฆ๐Ÿผโ€โ™€๏ธ

@PartRadish Congratulations!

@LittleAlien24 Ah thatโ€™s tough itโ€™ll be hard not seeing you child at Christmas. Hopefully plans change.

@sashastuck @Mummyme87 @suz2285
Thank you ๐Ÿ˜€

It's husband's 45th birthday today and we're going to have some friends over - we've taken the approach of telling people as we see them but I told him we didn't have to today since it's his birthday and he should be getting attention for that. But no, he really wants to tell them all and it really pleases me - it's taken him a while to come around to the idea and be less petrified, but he's more keen to tell people than me now!

LittleAlien24 · 07/07/2023 11:43

@WitcheryDivine that's what I've said, finish leaving cert and take your time after that, no problem. I did tell him that he has to convince her.
@PartRadish congratulations on the good news.
@ThomasinaLivesHere thanks, i really hope she changes her mind. It's already hard that my OH is not with us on Christmas and now she as well.
@Gremlin84 happy birthday to your husband and it's good he's come around and wants to tell others

youaremysunshine03 · 07/07/2023 12:40

I dipped out of this for over a week and came back to see so many messages and find a whole new thread! Oops I need to get better. Hope everyoneโ€™s doing ok, I need to read through all the posts on here and catch up properly.

I had my 12 week scan last week (was originally this week). Went into the EPU with spotting and they decided to do my nuchal scan for me then which was lovely. Allโ€™s looking well and baby is measuring slightly ahead yet again.

Finally starting to feel a little more human this week!! The nausea is gradually fading but I am still exhausted. 13+2 today ๐Ÿ’›

suz2285 · 07/07/2023 13:05

Had our scan just now, measuring ahead so moved to 12+6 which is great as I'm now almost a full week ahead and 13 weeks tomorrow ๐Ÿฅณ

Baby was being a little monkey though and wouldn't turn the right way despite walking and jiggling so I couldn't get the NT measurement which means they can't do the full testing ๐Ÿ™ˆ she did manage to get one measurement which was 2, and she said it is most certainly normal but cos they couldn't get 3 for the average I can't do the main testing

Which means I have the option to get the quad test in a few weeks which doesn't check for edwards or patau's only for downs and spinal issues.... so I need to call the midwife to get that booked in!

But scan looked perfect, baby bouncing around! I also don't think I can see a nub in any of the pics I got but have asked the nub experts hahah! We did get some cool pics of babies full spine though as they were back to front! And we seen all the arms and leggies and even the brain!!

Glad to hear all is going well for you! I had my scan yesterday and i'm also 13+2 โคexciting times! The nausea hasn't been too bad for me but the exhaustion is real!

RaspberryTime · 07/07/2023 15:34

More great scans today! Congrats ladies โ˜บ๏ธ

Hummusanddipdip · 07/07/2023 16:07

Had our scan this morning, measuring 12+3 so moved me forward 2 days.

Baby was stubborn, tucked in a nice corner so had to do a bit of jiggling to try and move, which worked, but only insofar as baby flipped to the same position facing the other way ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™€๏ธ took a toilet trip and did a bit more jiggling. Eventually got measurements, with baby bouncing and being as difficult as possible, the sonographer was great and got a colleague in to see if they could get any better. Got a lovely set of pictures, I've no idea on nub theory if anyone has any guesses?

lackingpatience · 07/07/2023 16:23

Itโ€™s very exciting to see all the scans. Cant quite tell whether it makes me more nervous or excited for next Wednesday but ahh! Anyway!

Iโ€™ve been trying to do maths on maternity pay. I have an occupational work scheme of 9 weeks full pay followed by 18 weeks half pay. Iโ€™m slightly confused by statutory maternity pay however, so would appreciate advice from those better informed/none newbies! Is SMP paid on top of your OP, so for example I would get 9 weeks + SMP (6 of which is 90% of salary) and then 18 weeks + SMP and then 12 weeks of SMP (as you can get 39 weeks in total)?

lackingpatience · 07/07/2023 16:41

Internet died, or would part of my initial 9 weeks of full pay and 18 weeks of part pay be made up of the SMP, so itโ€™s not in addition to but part of?

Mummyme87 · 07/07/2023 16:50

@lackingpatience SMP is on top of your works Occupational mat pay. So nhs do full pay 9weeks, half pay 16weeks plus SMP, then 13weeks SMP or something along those lines

FirstT1meMum · 07/07/2023 17:20

Had my combined screening results back today and chances are 1 in 100000 for all 3. Feel like I can breathe a bit now! Planning on telling the rest of my work colleagues on Monday now then joining the Facebook page!

Not sure if anyone else has found this but my goodness I can't seem to stop going for a wee! I was like this at about weeks 3,4 and 5 then it really settled down! Hitting 14 weeks this weekend and it just seems to be whatever liquid I put in comes straight back out! ๐Ÿคฃ

Thank you for the reply! The wording is so bad on our guidance!

fingers crossed it is this as it makes a huge difference!

Dannic2018 · 07/07/2023 18:50

@FirstT1meMum I am exactly the same literally said to my husband maybe I have diabetes ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ

Onedayatatime24 · 07/07/2023 19:14

@FirstT1meMum same here, super thirsty all the time, weeing all the time. Don't think I've slept through the night without having a wee since I found out tbh! Great news about your screening results too, did they take long to come back? Can't wait for ours so we can tell people!

FirstT1meMum · 07/07/2023 19:17

@Dannic2018 oh god don't say that ๐Ÿ™ˆ๐Ÿคฃ

@Onedayatatime24 it's so annoying, feel like I'm constantly asking someone jump in my class - can't wait for them to know why! ๐Ÿคฃ I had the blood test and scan 8 days ago and the letter came today dated the 3rd! All seemed very quick process โค๏ธ

Noodle89 · 07/07/2023 19:35

@Hummusanddipdip I'm gonna go with girl for you

LozzieLoo · 07/07/2023 20:42

Hi all, first time posting as Iโ€™ve just came across the thread. Have my 12 week scan on Tuesday, although we did get one at 9 weeks too. Does anyone else feel like the time has dragged?! Longest 8 weeks of my life since we found out!
