My trust still do hand held paper notes and they aren’t the National notes, they are specific to the trust.

glad scans have gone well today!

@LittleAlien24 in UK everyone is weighed at booking and then not again usually. Some do at 36wks to rework out your BMI which is silly as it’s not a true bmi. Some places if you’re over a certain bmi, they weigh you at every appt. I think my place weigh at every appt if bmi over 45 at booking

suz2285 · 16/06/2023 04:54

@Cheeseycheeseycheesecheese yeah all the apps are similar some just have better diagrams and info! I like pregnancy + for the 3D baby image and then Ovia for the info and you can compare baby to sweets, animals or fruits/veg 😂 currently my baby is the size of a Pygmy seahorse, oh but it'll change today so that's an exciting day!

@sashastuck yey for the scan! So good!

@Onedayatatime24 that's a lot of appointments, you'll surely get letters esp for the gd scan as it needs to explain the test some of them you have to fast for as well! Lol at the pillow dilemma, no idea but I'm sure someone will know

I'm awake in the middle of the night as there appears to be some big incident going on in the next street but after 30 mins watching out the window I'm still none the wiser as to what is going on so I'm back in bed! DH obviously woke up for 2 mins and went straight back to sleep and no doubt will now complain how tired he is all day 😂😂

PartRadish · 16/06/2023 06:12

Our trust use Badger Notes too and the general consensus is that it's a bit crap really. Most common complaint being that it never gets updated for the patient with scan reports or blood results or anything really. True for me so far, my booking in was a week ago but it still just has my pre-booking assessment questionnaire and nothing else. At least it's consistent I guess 😆

Mummyme87 · 16/06/2023 06:17

Yup badger is rubbish. We get women turn up not booked with us on badger and we have no access to it except via their phone. Often all you can see is a scan!

suz2285 · 16/06/2023 06:19

@PartRadish @Mummyme87 interesting, I've heard that too. Wonder if it depends on the area and if they bother to upload things, so far I can see only one appointment on mine but haven't had much else so far so we shall see!

any idea why it's called badger? Seems random 😂😂

Mummyme87 · 16/06/2023 06:37

@suz2285 no idea. The health visitors and social services team were first to use it I think. BadgerNet.

have my booking this morning, my friend has just text to remind me as she’s doing it 🥰

PartRadish · 16/06/2023 06:46

Ooh I know this one, I read something about it ages ago! The company who make it are called clevermed and the Director/creator or someone important like that is called Mr Badger 😂

lucya66 · 16/06/2023 07:13

@Onedayatatime24 i have bought a pregnancy pillow. It’s my first pregnancy and after researching online, I saw the BB Hug Me pregnancy pillow was getting a lot of hype and the reviews looked really good. It was £130 new but I found one on facebook market place for £60 and got it the other day.

its easy to wash the cover and I’ve been sleeping with it for a few nights. It’s good to put in between your legs to relieve pressure on your hips. Also I like my belly to not touch the bed as it hurts/ is bloated.

suz2285 · 16/06/2023 07:35

@PartRadish well that's a boring reason 😂 it's kinda cool that it's not an obvious pregnancy name tho, however I guess anyone who's ever been pregnant knows what it is anyway! I've got all my pregnancy related apps hidden in a folder on my iPhone right now so nothing is too obvious if someone was to glance at it 🙈😂

Babydustthisyear · 16/06/2023 07:39

@FirstT1meMum - I can relate to you, I am 12 weeks today 🎉 and I have my scan next week, I have had not a lot of symptoms, except bigger boobs, and aversions to some foods other than that I feel fine. Every now and then I worry but I think that we just expect to feel the usual symptoms of sickness and tiredness. I know a few people who didn't have any symptoms. I do think it makes you worry more coming closer to the scan. Good luck for the next few weeks 💕💕

lucya66 · 16/06/2023 08:24

Does anybody have the thing where you’re brushing your teeth and you gag? Like your gag reflex is a lot stronger. I’ve heard about it from friends but this is the first time I’ve had it.

lackingpatience · 16/06/2023 08:34

I am also using badger. My checking in appointment was earlier this week and the app has updated with that and indicates what weeks in the future my next appointments will be, and lists the blood and microbiology tests they will be running, but obvs no results yet.

So far so good as far an I’m concerned. They gave me the paper book but state they don’t update that, just the app.

youaremysunshine03 · 16/06/2023 08:44

@lucya66 yes all the time 😭 it’s the worst! I gag most of the time and have actually vomited a couple of times while brushing my teeth too. I cried the other night because I just wanted to clean my back teeth but couldn’t get near them 😂

Mummyme87 · 16/06/2023 08:57

@suz2285 pregnancy notes are a new addition to badger net. Health visitors and social services used it first.

@lucya66 i get toothbrush gagging. It’s horrible isn’t it. Get it every pregnancy

Onedayatatime24 · 16/06/2023 09:15

@suz2285 yeah assuming I should get letters, the GD one is quite far off so guessing that's why I've had nothing yet! Badger is meh for me so far, I can see my booked appointments so it's good not to have to wait for the letters for the obvious ones but that's about it. There's info from my booking appointment and I can see what bloods they did but no results uploaded yet and my booking appointment was 2 weeks ago. Also lol at your street drama, it's always me that's rubber necking out the window too while DH rolls back over. 😂

@lucya66 oooh thanks I'll have a look at those! Never even thought about getting second hand either, that's a good shout. Good to know you can wash the cover too!

suz2285 · 16/06/2023 09:29

@Onedayatatime24 he had the cheek to say he was tired! He was sleeping right through it! Though it was him that asked me to get up and see what it was! I watched for 30 mins at 4 am 😂😂 was a house fire, doesn't sound too good hopefully everyone is ok 🤞

I did remind him if we have this baby he'll never sleep through a whole night again, eugh 🙈😂

YES, it's the worst - it's only when I do the backs of my bottom molars though, so I've now got a little routine where those are left to last so at least the rest of my teeth are clean just in case

cossie13 · 16/06/2023 09:55

Ok so I think I'm caught up from yesterday! Queasiness has been kicking my arse the last 24 hours.

Yes, our trust uses the badger app, not sure how I feel about it yet. Does it completely replace the purple folder that I had with my last 2?

Yes I am really struggling with brushing my teeth. Have done for the last 2 weeks or so. It's actually starting to get me down because I feel gross. I've had to start just brushing the front teeth for 2 mins, quickly going over the back ones and using mouthwash just to make sure the back ones are somewhat clean!

Kalodin · 16/06/2023 10:02

I kinda like the sound of an app for where eveything is! It's still paper here but encouraged to record stuff on our Mum & Baby app. The BadgerApp could be useful as last pregnancy the hospital lost my notes when I was admitted into the ward which was so frustrating as I was transfered to a different hospital with no notes and I had to explain everything to this MW whilst in labour (on my own due to Covid) and she didn't bloody believe a word I was saying as she wasn't convinced I was I'm pre term labour until I forced her to check my cervix and she realised I was 8cm!

Cramping is really getting me down. Feels like Braxton Hicks already, whole belly keeps going rock hard.

Lilothblos · 16/06/2023 10:23

When did people get their folder / notes / badger app or whatever it’s called? I’m 9+5, had my bloods over 4 weeks ago and telephone booking appointment over 3 weeks ago and nobody has told me anything about where / when I can access my notes!

Redpanda21 · 16/06/2023 10:27

Also on badger notes. It’s okay once you get used to it and the midwife clicks the right button for the notes to show your end! Had it in my last pregnancy.

I have the Koala duluxe pregnancy pillow from my last pregnancy. Not started using it yet though.

Has anyone started thinking about pushchairs? My youngest will be just under 2 and wondering if we need a double or if a seated buggy board will suffice?

cossie13 · 16/06/2023 10:28

@Kalodin That does sound like a right faff! You'd think the NHS would make it easier to access your notes country wide! As for the braxton hicks, I thought the same and mentioned it to the midwife yesterday and she said it sounds like ligament pain. As our bodies know what to do after the first pregnancy everything stretches and moves waaaay earlier than with our first. Some people find it excruciating and others don't feel a thing.

@Lilothblos I got a phonecall from the midwife when she booked my booking appt. and 12 week scan explaining how to access the app. Do you have a booking appointment in person coming up? I'd imagen if your trust doesn't use an app then you'll get your physical notes there

We have! I have a 8 year old and a 5 year old so I don't need to be thinking doubles or buggy boards, but when I had my second my youngest was just under 3 and we used a standing buggy board. So a seated one for a 2 year old should be just fine - and a major space saver!

Lilothblos · 16/06/2023 10:45

Thanks @cossie13 they don’t seem to do an in person booking appointment where I am, just the bloods in person and then asking all the questions over the phone. My next midwife appointment isn’t until 16 weeks, but I guess I’ll just ask then.

@Mummyme87 im in spain now and it's a bit different here 😁

When i found this website online i didn't realise its uk site so i hope everyone is ok if i stay in this group even tho im not in uk 🙂

We have no apps here. Doesn't matter what doctors you go to you get all your results on paper or xray/ct scans on dvd for yourself and it's up to you to keep them safe and bring thrm with you to another doc or appointment if needed lol

Im thinking of looking into getting the pregnancy pillow.
Luckily I've buggy left from my youngest one. I absolutely love the buggy even tho it's 16 years old lol but im thinking of maybe getting a buggy with hard carrycot for first 6 months and then start using my old buggy 🤔 old buggy has the hard base soft edges carrybag in for babies.
@Redpanda21 my oldest was under 2 when my youngest was born. I had single buggy and bought the standing buggyboard for my oldest. That was enough for us but well mine loved to walk 😁 think it all depends on a child to decide what to get
