Thanks all.

Yep baby brain is real! Caught me out a few times at work the last few weeks, I'm normally really on it, and a few times my boss has had to point out really obvious things! I don't feel too bad though as it's usually the other way round 🤣

Kalodin · 03/07/2023 06:15

Accidently told DS1 this morning 🤦‍♀️ I was talking to DH how I'm adapting my gym routine this morning and mentioned the word "pregnant" in front of DS1 🤦‍♀️

We didn't want him to know because of the risk of losing this baby, he really struggled when he lost his brother.

But his face totally lit up and he was so happy and excited. Sat here in the gym trying to not cry! Well emotional.

buckingmad · 03/07/2023 06:55

Ughhh I’ve succumbed to the cold that is going round. My throat feels like I’ve swallowed knives!

DH got up with our toddler last night and I could hear her screaming for ages but resisted taking over as she needs to learn to settle for him too. He finally came back to bed saying “it’s hayfever, her nose is blocked” but I knew that wasn’t it, she wanted me. Shock, when she woke again a few hours later I went to her and she fell straight back asleep 😂

does make me feel a bit guilty about having another though. Hopefully in the next 6 months she starts self settling a bit better during the night, at the moment she wakes once and needs cuddling back to sleep maybe 8 out of 10 nights.

CarnelianArtist · 03/07/2023 07:04

@kalodin oh no! Did he get it? At the hospital I said pregnant a number of times but my 4 year old though he has a good vocabulary didn't seem to realise somehow. I think he put it down to a medical situation.

Although it's disappointing you didn't get to do it as planned it's OK, there isn't a wrong time to tell them. It's great he was excited :) Really happy for you.

And you're going to the gym!! So impressed. I get out of breath walking up the stairs then feel like I need a shower after 10 mins yoga so my exercise is well down. Its hormones, I don't have asthma.

Sorry you have a cold, I had it and it made me think my pregnancy symptoms were twice as bad as they are!! Hope it goes soon.

Don't feel bad. It's hard getting kids to sleep but they'll love having a sibling. I think you'll have better luck settling her when you're not exhausted from a cold.

I've given up settling my 4 year old separately. I know...4. 😆 we'll probably end up sleeping in a pile with my luck husband in the guest bed. I just don't have the energy.

Hummusanddipdip · 03/07/2023 07:16

@buckingmad and @CarnelianArtist ds is 4 next week and he still gets a hug to sleep most nights. Dh and I take it in turns, it's a bedtime routine we all enjoy. He can be put in his own bed and will settle alone, but he likes the big bed with a couple of books and cuddles. He's out by 8pm and moved to his own room (not sure how much longer I can do that one) but comes back into our bed at about 4am until I wake him up.

If you don't already bucking I'd get your DH to do bedtime more often than you going forward, just to get her used to daddy being the one to put her to bed?

CarnelianArtist · 03/07/2023 07:21

Matildahoney · 02/07/2023 18:40

I also get it when I cough and sneeze and also hold my tummy so it's less painful, mine is always right side pain though, has been since early on so I was worried it could have been an ectopic, but nothing was mentioned at our 8 week scan!
I've also found when I go for a walk or walk a long (ish) distance I get an ache in and around my pubic bone I guess you'd describe it was, very odd and uncomfortable!
Nausea comes now and again, but I'm 13+4 today, scan is tomorrow which I am so nervous for! I just want to know everything's ok!

I had a similar pain though its gone now . They scanned early on for reassurance all fine. They said you can just get pains in pregnancy. 🤷‍♀️

Just to mention to all the new joiners, there’s a private Facebook group for Jan 2024 if anyone would like the link.

I’ve been so useless this weekend, spent it all in bed feeling like death while husband cooked, cleaned and looked after our 2.5 yo 😵‍💫 He’s going away for 12 days from Wednesday and I am absolutely dreading it, I hope the 2nd trimester is easier, technically starting on Friday 😞

Please can you send me the link? I've been lurking for a while and do remember seeing it but can't find it now!

buckingmad · 03/07/2023 07:22

@Hummusanddipdip @CarnelianArtist thanks both. I also love the cuddling to sleep part of bed time so no regrets there (we even built her a small double Montessori style bed so we can get in with her 😂). But if next baby is anything like she was then I will be glued to baby from about 6pm onwards cluster feeding for the first few weeks. I’m sure it’ll be fine, just prefnancy hormones making me catastrophise.

I have started making DH do bed time more but he’s army so most weeks he’s away at least one night and the first night he does with her again is always the hardest. He also goes away for 6 months when new baby is 9 months and toddler is 3 🫠 can’t wait. Just as I’ll go back to work too!

I have the same worry. A friend told me the birth if the baby actually helped her 4 year old sleep separately. The 4 year old didn't want to be in bed that early and complained of the wriggling so she said you have a big girl bed and you can teach your baby brother how to sleep independently. It helped. I think things have a way of working themselves out when necessary.

For anyone interested, The Positive Birth Company have 50% off their online courses all this week. I’m going to do the hypnobirthing one. I’ve looked for courses in person but they’re all £300 plus and that alongside the challenge of childcare I think this will have to do. It’s very well reviewed

That's really good. Could you just get your OH to carry them across?

TunnocksTCake · 03/07/2023 11:33

Ive been getting awful pelvic girdle pain too, it woke me up last night. Still very tired and cant wait for that to go, I get to lunch time on the days I have with my toddler and I just have nothing left to give. Feel like an awful parent.
I'm getting really out of breath just going up the stairs, I quickly went up yesterday to change into some trousers while DD was downstairs then when I came back down I was so out of breath DH thought something awful had happened. V weird and I hate nto being able to do things but I guess I just need to take it easy.

flowerpot258 · 03/07/2023 11:39

@RaspberryTime @Mushroo - it certainly isn't easy. I have a 9 year old who currently has the chicken pox and I've got a 1 year old who is going through a sleep regression Blush I now seem to have terrible nausea which I'm hoping won't last too long.

I don't know about you but I'm definitely not enjoying being pregnant at the moment Hmm

RG9895 · 03/07/2023 11:43

Hi all! Hope you are all okay! Sorry I have been struggling to keep up with this thread but will try moving forward...

I had my scan today, all looking good and will get combined results back in a couple of weeks. Saw it waving and bouncing around 🥹🥹 due 9th Jan!

Feel free to make any guesses although I'm not sure if you can see the nub?

RaspberryTime · 03/07/2023 13:34

@flowerpot258 Sorry to hear that, sounds like you’re having a tough time. I sometimes have the same feeling that I’m not enjoying how it’s all going. Someone suggested to me that reminding myself that the alternative is not being pregnant might help my mindset. A lot of the time it does. But feeling bleugh does still suck!

LittleAlien24 · 03/07/2023 13:36

Had my scan today (feel free to guess the gender). Baby ok and fibroid hasn't grown. Baby was quite active, doc kept laughing because the minute she tried to measure it would turn it's back lol Measures few days ahead but she didn't change the date so still 13 January, well planned cesarean about week earlier.
New scan in 3 weeks to measure my cervix and hope it's still ok and should be getting the combined test results in few days

Onedayatatime24 · 03/07/2023 13:43

I'm having crazy twinges and sharp pains today! Not sure if I over did it at swimming or if I'm just making room in there.

Have our 12 week scan in the morning, been excited all weekend and now I'm a bag of nerves, can't concentrate on anything at work.

So lovely to see everyone's scans coming through though, congrats all!

LittleAlien24 · 03/07/2023 13:48

@Onedayatatime24 i had sharp pains on my right side for the last 2 days and today at ultrasound i felt them again so asked the doc. She said its ok, it's the uterus growing. Good luck at your scan tomorrow

I am also struggling with pelvic girdle pain and todler who constantly wants me to sit on the floor!

With your breathlessness, may be that you're anemic, I had this in 1st pregnancy and it makes you super breathless. Midwife perscribed iron tablets and it improved.

Luhou · 03/07/2023 13:57

Gorgeous scans!

TunnocksTCake · 03/07/2023 14:09

@Luhou yes it did occur to me I may be anaemic but have had the booking bloods and assumed that would be one of the main things they would test for so would have let me know? Maybe not. Might see if its worth just taking additional B vitamins anyway. Thanks :)

Onedayatatime24 · 03/07/2023 14:12

@LittleAlien24 oh that's good to know! Thank you, I can't wait for it to be done and dusted and to see little one in there! 🤞

sashastuck · 03/07/2023 14:12

Aww lovely scan pics! I’m guessing girl for you @RG9895 and boy for you @LittleAlien24

Thanks so much for that @Mummyme87 - I wanted to do a course so will look into that tonight!

Sorry to everyone else with the cold, mine is doing my head in. Got coughed on right in the face by a child at school today so can’t see my recovery starting any quicker.
