@Luhou i had one at 8 weeks and I’m glad I did, but I wouldn’t say it’s particularly lessened my worry about the 12 week one! So I wouldn’t say getting one is a necessity

Salamander91 · 15/06/2023 10:23

@flowerpot258 my 2nd was slightly smaller than my first. My 3rd was a massive 10lb 7oz though so I'm nervous 😂thankfully will be a c section!

@Kalodin my first scan I was measuring 5 days less than I should have been. It was measuring for my dates when I went back at 9 weeks. It's hard to get accurate measurements when they're so tiny.

cossie13 · 15/06/2023 10:32

Oh definitely don't worry! Early scans are lovely I won't lie, they make everything feel a little more real as you've seen something there if that makes sense?

flowerpot258 · 15/06/2023 10:34

@Salamander91 - oh my! That is massive haha

Redpanda21 · 15/06/2023 10:39

@Kalodin good luck with the scan today.

I would highly recommend using progesterone up the back passage as you don’t get the mess and it’s more ahem accepting! You don’t have to lay back down after inserting

Bims2019 · 15/06/2023 10:56

@Gremlin84 it's great that you're not feeling worried. I go through phases of feeling very practical and "what will be will be", to feeling anxious if I don't have any symptoms. Mine is first pregnancy as well so the not knowing what's coming can be both a blessing and a curse! Agree with @cossie13 that we are largely a bunch of anxious and impatient individuals 😂

@Mushroo that sounds like such a bizarre dream! Must have been a relief to wake up 😅 I always have intense dreams, usually about trying to pack to go somewhere in a hurry and I can't find what I need, or that someone is angry with me. It's exhausting!

@Luhou I had an early scan at 7 weeks but since then have been holding off until the 12 week scan next week. It's been very tempting to book a private one in between and I totally get why people do for reassurance. I think just do what feels right for you!

@Kalodin sorry about the scan causing worry, as others have said really hoping it's just the measurements being hard to read at this point. Please do stay x

Does anyone else ever have nausea strong enough that they're not sure if they're really hungry or about to be sick? Had a couple of biscuits yesterday and it seemed to take the edge off but was unsure about eating properly in case it just made me throw up. This was late last night so I'd already had dinner

@xLJ1990x yes, this is what my nausea seems to have turned into, a deep hunger type feeling. Eating helps, but a few weeks ago when I was worse I was struggling to eat as well! But now a few weeks on its more of that gnawing stomach empty feeling that's not exactly nausea just weirdness.

@Mushroo i had a weird dream the other night where i went to order chips and i couldn't read the note i had with me, it was all jumbled, i tried to call my mum and my phone was all in a weird order and everyone behind me in the queue was getting impatient, it felt like i'd had a stroke! very glad to wake up!

@Kalodin everything crossed for you, please do stay in the group, no doubt some of us will be early/later than expected along the way

@cossie13 honestly i think if you didn't have anxiety before pregnancy you would have it during. I spoke to the midwife about that yesterday and she said most mums are anxious esp in the first 12 weeks as you really have no idea what is going on until you get a scan! I've got one on friday now and i'm panicking again

Mushroo · 15/06/2023 11:17

@suz2285 im glad it’s not just me with the dreams! They’re so intense!

good luck with your scan on Friday - so many scans coming up on here, I have my fingers crossed for all of us xx

suz2285 · 15/06/2023 11:19

@Mushroo i get more wild dreams as the weather gets warmer, i think i overheat and they are sometimes scary, hopefully wont be any worse this year, we shall see! I do take magnesium usually at bedtime if i'm waking up a lot and that seems to help settle me! But yes, no more weird dreams please!

I brought my scan forward by a week as i feel anxious more this week so fingers crossed indeed!

Kalodin · 15/06/2023 11:53

Thanks everyone, only a week behind, trying to stay positive. No follow up scanned booked as they said everything looked perfect for a 7 week scan. Was really super clear! I was surprised at how baby like the blob looked. And the yolk sac was a perfect heart shape, was a shame my Trust don't do photos for early scans. There was lots of fluid around baby, and actually the sonographer said that perhaps it was more measuring closer to 8 weeks levels.

Tbf, if I have an early baby again, will be a Dec/Jan baby anyway so thank you for saying I can stay in the Jan group

sashastuck · 15/06/2023 11:58

@Kalodin of COURSE! And you never know, if baby comes early you’ll still be a Jan gal! I hope you can be reassured that others in this group have measured behind and then caught up at their next scan. Lots of love x

@Mushroo @suz2285 I also had a WEIRD dream last night that felt so real! My sister and I went bodyboarding down the road instead of driving… we found a criminal on the loose and had to track him down which involved jumping through people’s gardens, swimming through pools 😂

Good luck to those with a scan today, thinking of you. Mine is at 6pm. I had a bit of brown spotting for the first time today so I’m thanking God I didn’t cancel the scan although I’m sure it’s all fine. I won’t be having any more sex for a while as I think that’s what caused it, although DP thinks it’s stress? Is that a thing? Work has been really tough this week so.

cossie13 · 15/06/2023 13:07

Scan went well, measuring 8 weeks and a day. Heart beat good and strong and the cramping is a combination of ligaments stretching and a small bleed below the sac 🙂

ItsAJourney · 15/06/2023 13:14

Just back from my scan too and all went well. Everything were it should be and a lovely flickering heartbeat.

@Kalodin, it’s so weird how similar we are as just like you I’m also measuring smaller than I should be. They said I was actually 7+2 but that baby is measuring 6+3 so 6 days behind. But the midwife said she wasn’t concerned about it and no need for me to go back for a rescan. She said we’re talking about millimetres here. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve been questioning my husband about it the whole way home, but when I think about it, if something were wrong like it had stopped growing then to be honest it probably wouldn’t have a heartbeat anymore so the fact it does I think is a positive thing.

We’re now discharged from the clinic and back into the NHS so I’ll be filling in my self referral this afternoon to get the ball rolling there!

Kalodin · 15/06/2023 13:20

Yeah @ItsAJourney You are right there, the Sonographer was really good with me, she explained that if it was going to stop growing (like my MMC did) then the heartbeat would be either a lot slower or irregular and the fluid around the baby wouldn't be correct either. She reassured me that she thinks there's no need for a follow up scan.

Baffles me as it means I got a positive pregnancy test (x3!) before I was pregnant!? But then again, as others have said on here, this has happened to them and by the next scan the dates matched back up with their LMP.

Oh such a wonderful scan @cossie13

Good luck for later @sashastuck

cossie13 · 15/06/2023 13:23

Glad your scan went well too @ItsAJourney. Isn't it amazing how our bodies work?

@Kalodin I'm sure all will be well, especially if there was a heartbeat there

LittleAlien24 · 15/06/2023 13:33

Hi everyone. Thought I'll line myself up here if ye don't mind 😊 bit of my back story, sorry its a bit long one 😂
I have 2 teenagers at home and been trying for a baby for about 10 years. A bit more than 2 years ago they checked my tubes (never got the results). Few months later i ended up in hospital with really bad pains and found out im pregnant and unfortunately it was ectopic. I was sad but on the same time happy that i managed to get pregnant. Soon after we moved to another country. This year march they checked my tubes again and it wasn't good news. Couldn't see my right tube, so they put it down to ectopic and my left tube was blocked. Was told my only option is IVF 😞 in may me and my fiancé went away for 2 weeks and that's when i didn't feel ok and thought I'll do a test. Wasn't hoping for anything but for my surprise the 2 lines came up straight away. Did another test lol and another one next day 😂 got back home where my gp who's gyne aswell did ultrasound straight away. Baby was where it was meant to be 😊 and he could not believe i was pregnant lol. Because of all my problems he sent me to obstetrician who after looking at all my history thought it's a miracle. Im really high risk. I've fibroid, neck of the womb is shorter because of 2 previous treatments, i have to do blood thinner injections and now started taking thyroid medication as well. I have to go to doc every 2 to 3 weeks and every time they have to do a scan to keep an eye on. So far it's growing like it's meant to, matching exactly with my period calculations. Due date is 13 January but will have planned cesarian about week earlier because of my 2 previous cesarians.
So far I've nausea 24/7 since i found out im pregnant.
Sorry again for the long story and hi to everyone

A scan at around 9 weeks, do we think that will be TV or TA? 🤔

I had abdominal with Window to the womb at 8 weeks. Nice and easy.

They wanted TV but I declined telling them to do abdominal first . From my understanding and personal unless you are overweight abdominal is fine from 7 weeks.

Personally I still get worried about 🍆 so I wouldn't just do a TV because they admit you may experience bleeding .

Hi and congratulations! Wow, that's quite a lot you've been through! How are you feeling with all that's going on?

TrudyProud · 15/06/2023 13:52

@Luhou I've had one because I'm a symptomless person but hasn't impacted any anxiety. If I'm honest until I see my baby in my arms I'm always anxious.
It's not based on anything as have had very straight forward ttc journey (first cycle both times), have easy pregnancies but sometimes things being easy just adds to the anxiety.

@LittleAlien24 you've been through a lot but that's such beautiful news

LittleAlien24 · 15/06/2023 13:53

@cossie13 thank you. Im really anxious and nervous and it's not helping that my fiancé is in another country and i won't see him until October for about 10 days. And he won't be home until after Christmas 😔, literally few weeks before baby will be born. Im trying to calm myself and saying to myself that belly is growing, sickness is here so everything is ok but not fully calm until im at scan

cossie13 · 15/06/2023 13:57

@LittleAlien24 oh bless you, I can't even imagine what that must be like. I get panicky whenever my OH is away for 1 night in case something happens. The only thing that keeps me going when he is away is that I'm never alone and as long as I have symptoms, I'm fairly happy that all is going well! And that's also what everyone in this group is for 😊

LittleAlien24 · 15/06/2023 13:58

@TrudyProud it's absolutely a miracle and i still can't believe it 😁

LittleAlien24 · 15/06/2023 14:05

@Kalodin @ItsAJourney happy to read that yer scans went well. I know it worries you when measurements don't ad really up but as long as there's a heartbeat it's ok

Onedayatatime24 · 15/06/2023 14:26

Wow this thread moves fast! So many ups and downs in this weird journey, isn't there?!

Counting down the days until my 12 week scan in just over 2 weeks. It's my first and I'm so amazed that you literally know nothing for a whole third of the pregnancy! Anything could be happening in there!!!

Also that nobody tells you about all the other non-sickness symptoms like weird dreams, intense thirst (?!), weeing all the time and the constipation omg! I've not had any of the typical symptoms that everyone talks about (sickness, sore boobs, metallic taste) so glad I joined here to see the it's all normal to be feeling all kinds of ways. 😂

ItsAJourney · 15/06/2023 14:29

Thanks @cossie13! Really pleased yours went well too and love the photo!

Thanks @LittleAlien24 and also for the reassurance, I’m sure all will be fine, it’s just such an unsettling time, isn’t it!
