I started reading this thread yesterday but just realised I never posted so missed further updates 😂

I used to get gagging when brushing but thankfully it’s gone hopefully not coming back.

On pregnancy pillows, I still have my one from last time. Dreamgenii pillow which is also supposed to be used for breast feeding too. It was expensive and to be honest I never really used it either in pregnancy or for feeding. I found a few spare regular pillows position between knees and at my back were much better for sleeping.

My trust still does paper folders. I don’t mind too much although it is a crazy amount of paper for it you get. It’d also be good to keep at the end but the hospital said they had to retain it last time.

I have my official 12 week scan on Monday! Hopefully goes well and I will see what due date they give me.

PartRadish · 16/06/2023 10:59

My 3 have 2 years between them. Eldest was absolutely fine with a seated buggy board but for middle and youngest we needed a double, middle was just a little bit too small/unpredictable still.

Not sure what we'll do this time. Youngest (6) uses a wheelchair or disability buggy so I think I'll be using a sling mostly and we'll push one each when husband is with us. Eldest uses a wheelchair (self propelled) for days out/longer distances too so the main feature we'll be looking for in a pushchair is small enough to squeeze in with the other equipment! 😄

Kalodin · 16/06/2023 11:09

Thank you @cossie13 For the reassurance on it. You'd think I'd be expecting it with this my 9th pregnancy (hopefully 4th child I birth) that I'd be used to it but it's definitely worse this time around!

On the pram talk, still got DS3's pram and all baby stuff in the attic! So hopefully all has kept well.

cossie13 · 16/06/2023 11:12

@Kalodin I know what you mean, this is my 3rd pregnancy and hopefully 3rd child I birth (I have been extremely lucky) and I just can't remember anything from either of my previous 2 pregnancies! I think there's the added worry with being a bit older too. I've found myself worrying about whether my now old body will cope 😂

A family member offered us their old travel system but I think we'll be buying new. There's something about second hand infant carriers that just doesn't sit right with me 🙈

Kalodin · 16/06/2023 11:15

What is your plan with cars btw @cossie13 ! I cannot afford to get a new car, currently got an Astra but unsure how I'll get 3 car seats across the back! DS1 and DS3 will both be in booster seats still but not sure they'll fit in alongside the Joie 360 Spin I love!

And yes I get you on wondering how my body will cope! Feels like a whole lifetime ago when I last done this!

cossie13 · 16/06/2023 11:22

@Kalodin I'm in a fortunate position (if you can call it fortunate) that I'm in the process of sorting out house and finances with the ex (yes, it has taken over 3 years to get this sorted and will probably be 4 years by the time it's done!) so will have some money to buy a bigger car. Until then though we have a VW Golf so 3 car seats in that will be interesting! I think my 8 year old is tall enough now to sit without a booster so that will make things easier, but it's so tough isn't it?? You've possibly said already but baby brain is so real this time around! How old are your other kids?

Mummyme87 · 16/06/2023 11:40

new pram needed here. I had the bugaboo chameleon previously and used it for 3yrs per child, then the frame gave up and wouldn’t close.
also getting a new car, need one anyway as our lease runs out in September but I want a 7 seater. No way an infant seat and two high back boosters will fit in our car, we’ve got the VW Tiguan. I want a Volvo xc90 they are just so expensive but persuading OH slowly 😬

Mummyme87 · 16/06/2023 11:41

Had my booking, got my notes and a few referrals to maternal medicine, glucose tolerance test, consultant and perineal midwife. All the fun!!

Kalodin · 16/06/2023 11:44

@cossie13 I suppose it's a silver lining in a weird way! Compensation maybe 😅

So DS1 is 6 and DS3 is 3. DS6 is definitely booster seat ready at 120cm (still in a toddler car seat!) And DS3 is still in the Joie 360 spin, but he is only 95cm tall but hoping he has a growth spurt to put him into a booster.

Need to find the narrowest baby car seat out there.

buckingmad · 16/06/2023 12:00

Got my scan date through but it’s a date I can’t miss work and also DH is away with the army 🙄 hope they’re ok about me moving it!

suz2285 · 16/06/2023 12:33

@buckingmad typical isn't it! I just replied to a request for a meeting saying currently free all those dates but I'm waiting for a hospital referral that may fall on one of those dates 😂 god knows!

I think they can move them quite easily is there a number to call? I need to know soon as well so DH can get a day off as well! Or a couple of hours at least...

Assuming all goes ok with my scan tonight anyway 🤞

Inmydreams88 · 16/06/2023 12:36

Is it unusual to have a pre booking appointment at the doctors surgery (height, weight, bmi, blood pressure taken), then the actual booking appointment at home, but have no urine dips done at either? Especially when I've got extreme sickness and nausea.

Vikki7 · 16/06/2023 12:38

We're getting a Skoda Kodiaq due to being on the motability scheme for my son. Thank goodness we got a 7 seater :-) I'm he car seats we use are a joie bold for my 6y/o daughter and a cosatto all in all rotate for my son. Partner currently has a Mitsubishi Colt and we are absolutely squished with us all in it and my sons pushchair. Our Kodiaq should arrive late this year. I'm still learning to drive, I'll have to pass before baby gets here.

In regard to pushchairs, I don't know what to do! I've just ordered a disability pushchair (wheelchair) for my 4 y/o son (£4500!) and by Jan we will have a newborn! I don't know of any disability and newborn pram/pushchairs available or any connection devices that could couple them up! I can't think of a solution other than I'll have to wait until my 4y/o goes to school before we go out with baby until baby is walking!

buckingmad · 16/06/2023 13:35

@Vikki7 assuming you are fit and mobile I think your best bet when on your own is newborn in a carrier and pushing your older. Then a pushchair each when you and DH are together?

Mine was in a carrier most of the time for the first 16 weeks anyway! My bassinet part of the travel system barely got used 😂

ThomasinaLivesHere · 16/06/2023 13:59

@Inmydreams88 in my experience I’d have expected a urine test at booking appointment. The problem is so many places have different procedures so it might not be unusual for where you are but you think they’d want to test soon.

PartRadish · 16/06/2023 14:48

@Vikki7 That will be our situation too (6 year old in wheelchair plus newborn) and as above I'm planning on a stretchy wrap sling for the baby initially then pushchair when husband is with us.

Bimbley · 16/06/2023 14:50

Had early scan this morning and saw a lovely little heartbeat 😍

Bimbley · 16/06/2023 14:55

Sorry pressed send before finishing.

Had early scan this morning and saw a lovely little heartbeat😍measured at 8+4 and dates say 8+2 so looking good so far 🤞

My DS will be 2.5 when little one comes along but don't think we'll get a double buggy. We mostly carried him in a sling/carrier for the first 6 months anyway so hoping to have baby in sling and then DS can go in pushchair if needed.

I bought a cheapish pregnancy pillow on Amazon last time and it did the job just fine. It was huge tho and had to kick DH out of our bed cause we only had a double at the time 😆we've just bought a super king bed so plenty of room for DH and my massive pillow this time round!

LittleAlien24 · 16/06/2023 14:57

@Bimbley that's great 😊

i know i already had 3 scans even tho im only 9w 6d but still anxious and can't wait for another one that is on 3 july

PartRadish · 16/06/2023 15:07

Great news @Bimbley 😊

Buttonmoon86 · 16/06/2023 15:19

Great news on the scan @Bimbley 😊

A bit of a random one but has any one had a sore mouth, kind of like the start of a mouth ulcer?

Mushroo · 16/06/2023 15:40

@Buttonmoon86 mines been a bit sore and I’ve been suffering with bleeding gums. I’ve bought some alcohol free mouthwash and using it after each meal and that seems to be helping.

Buttonmoon86 · 16/06/2023 15:44

Thanks @Mushroo ive only noticed it the last few days but seems at its worst today. I’ll try some alcohol free mouth wash 😊

Gremlin84 · 16/06/2023 16:02

Had appointment with doctor today - a tad high TSH on bloods, so I'm now on low dose thyroid meds to add to the vit D, the folic acid, the antibiotics for the UTI and hayfever meds (the pregnancy safe ones are much less effective and I'm so sneezy :( ). I think I'm going to end up rattling each morning! 😂

Can't believe just how many appointments there are for a first pregnancy, plus I have all the extras with the doctor now too.

Also - I've now decided I'm just going to always turn up with a full bladder. They asked for urine sample again even though it was a doctors appt about something completely different and the letter didn't even suggest that would be done! Of course I'd done what every normal person does and had a wee just before I left the house 🙄

youaremysunshine03 · 16/06/2023 16:13

Always so many messages to catch up on! 😂

Re the pregnancy pillow, I had one of the huge ones for my first pregnancy and didn’t really get along with it even though most people rave about them. They take up a lot of space and just got on my nerves, especially towards the end. I preferred just putting an extra pillow between my legs! But everyone’s so different, some friends of mine said they couldn’t live without theirs.

Glad your scan went well today @Bimbley ☺️
