Just catching up now there’s a new thread opened… how do we join the Facebook group that’s being spoken about?

suz2285 · 15/06/2023 15:02

@cossie13 great news on the scan

@Hedgehugs hopefully someone can post a link to the FB group, it's private so you can't find it otherwise, it's linked in the last thread as well (part 2)

@LittleAlien24 what a journey! welcome, and hope all continues to go ok for you!

@TrudyProud @RootsHere when i had the scan in my first pregnancy i was "8 weeks" the place i go to does only TA, and they struggled to see anything, but it turns out I was having a MC and after a TV scan at the EPU baby was only maybe around 7 weeks and not viable (no HB).

This time i went to EPU at 6 + 4 with some bleeding and they did TA to start, she said they might not see anything and not to worry but it was super clear and baby was measuring 7 + 3! I'm going back to the private place on friday for a scan when i'm now 9 weeks - so it'll be interesting to see if their scanner picks up something a bit better! I think the scanner at the hospital might be better quality tbh! So maybe that makes a difference too!

buckingmad · 15/06/2023 16:00

@flowerpot258 my mum had a 10 pounder for her second and then her third and fourth were smaller so wasn’t the case for her!

LittleAlien24 · 15/06/2023 16:05

@suz2285 thanks.

My first was smaller than my second one but we putting it down to my apcr pos (need for blood thinning injections). Didn't know with my 1st but knew it with my 2nd. I used to call my 2nd Michelin baby lol

Flossiepot · 15/06/2023 16:11

Hi Ladies, making myself present on the new thread ☺️ hope you're all well!
Just waiting patiently for my 12 week scan now 2 weeks tomorrow 🙏🏽

Dannic2018 · 15/06/2023 17:01

Hi all, had my booking appointment today and it was over 2 hours 😳 took my toddler not thinking it would be as long. I’ll be consultant led. Is everyone’s on the Badger app ? Got my scan on the 26th June so will only be 11+3 🤷‍♀️ then my 16 week and consultant appointment is all done too. I’m shattered if I’m honest and had a worry stomach all day which I don’t know why, which then makes it worse 😩

Cheeseycheeseycheesecheese · 15/06/2023 17:35

So pleased scans have been positive today, hopefully it'll be as such going forwards 🤞
Mine took over an hour and half yesterday @Dannic2018 and this is my second 🤣 although to be fair me and the midwife did go off on a couple of tangents, it was nice, like a let's get to know eachother session?

I was amazed that I only have 6 appointments this time, feels weird considering I'm sure it's like 10+ with your first? And the fact she's put me under consultant care for the risk of another small baby (to be fair I think I only grow little babies)

What's the Badger app? I've got My Pregnancy Notes, assuming that's national as that's the self referral thing. I'm using flo to track my pregnancy is anyone else?

xLJ1990x · 15/06/2023 17:47

@ssuz2285 Glad it's not just me. I wasn't expecting nausea to feel odd. I've had nausea for about 3 weeks now. At the start I felt overwhelmed how long it might last but now just try not to think about that!

Dannic2018 · 15/06/2023 17:51

@Cheeseycheeseycheesecheese I think because this is my 6th pregnancy and I didn’t have exactly easy births even though they were natural and because it’s all on this Badger notes and your maternity notes are on a app now it takes longer ? Bloods done and urine sent off and just alot of questions but she was lovely and I’ll have her all the way through I think so that’s nice. I had bigger babies and shoulder dysplasia twice they want me consultant led and I’m old at 38 🤣🤣

suz2285 · 15/06/2023 17:54

@Dannic2018 wow that's long! Mine was an hour but I went needing a wee thinking I'd be asked for a sample but nope! She wants me back in 2 weeks for that part and the bloods... so I just needed a pee for over an hour 😂

I'm on badger app too, what a weird name 😂 wonder how they decided that!

@Cheeseycheeseycheesecheese im using about 3 apps to track mine as I like to check and see what they're all saying!

I've just randomly been invited to an Elton John concert tonight! Like an hour before it starts, so I flew out of work and now waiting for my pals! Free ticket and his last tour so I'm kinda excited, in my work clothes, nothing with me but yey!!

Cheeseycheeseycheesecheese · 15/06/2023 18:06

Ahhh, that makes sense then @Dannic2018 and owch too! Hopefully this ones a little more easy.

I was expecting to be told off for my weight as I've put a bit on since I stopped going to the gym last summer, but she wasn't concerned whereas with ds due to morning sickness I lost almost a stone and was told "you were able to afford to lose it, and you could do with losing more" charming...

Are they all giving similar info @suz2285?

Hummusanddipdip · 15/06/2023 18:07

And that sounds so fun!! @suz2285 have a great night!!!!

FirstT1meMum · 15/06/2023 18:16

@Cheeseycheeseycheesecheese I'm also on my pregnancy notes and flo. I'm also using emmas diary which is quite a nice one and you can get your free packs!

sashastuck · 15/06/2023 18:51

Just checking in to say scan was all good, baby is growing away and I’m now measuring 11+1, thought I was 10+2!

Vikki7 · 15/06/2023 19:02

Checking into part 3! It's moving so fast here! Glad to hear scans all went well today, yesterday was so sad with scan news.

I know I've asked before but now new ladies have joined so I'll ask again...! Is anyone else on oral progesterone? Everyone else seems to be on vaginal and when I've been for a private scan, the midwife told me that it's unusual and told me to question it at my next appointment. (No need as I've been told to stop at week 16, next appointment is week 16!)

I saw some ladies had been talking about home birth, I'm going for my second home birth as it was so magical last time (2019) not much mess at all with plenty of shower curtains and pads on the floor. Water can be pumped out the birth pool with electric pump if you have a water birth.

A couple hours after having my son, I was hoovering the house and cuddling with my kids! No intervention, no tears, (I had a 2nd degree with my 1st and needed 3 hours worth of stitches) no need to make travel plans (our hospital is 10 miles away and I don't drive) and no need for childcare! It was so good, I can't wait for labour again! Haha! If any of you are considering it, I'm a huge advocate for it, do your research. I hired a pool from the midwives for £5! And a tens machine for another £5 and I was sorted!

My 1st birth was so over medicalised it was ridiculous - a horrible experience.

Lightningrain · 15/06/2023 19:28

Just catching up on the new thread.

I’m 10w + 5 today and I’ve noticed the fatigue and nausea if I don’t eat regularly has mostly gone away now. I’m still really bloated, especially in the evenings and I’m not enjoying having no clothes that fit comfortably!

I still have the sore boobs and the odd bit of brown spotting. I’m another one that’s been anxious and wondering whether to book another scan (I had an early one due to IVF pregnancy around 4 weeks ago but I’ve got another couple of weeks before the NHS one).

Hope everyone is doing ok in the heat. I’ve been up a lot in the night needing a wee but I’m wondering if it’s the fact that I’m too hot waking me up.

Kalodin · 15/06/2023 19:35

Same with my first birth @Vikki7 ! I done a hypnobirthing course but I certainly wasn't equipped with how to navigate if it didn't go smoothly. Done much more research now, was hoping to use it all in subsequent pregnancies but those two ended in EMCS due to suspected sepsis due to fetal distress after prolonged PPROM. Although I'd say those births were handled better by my mind.

Certainly want to swap HB ideas. I want to stay home for as long as possible, and if it ends in HB great!

LittleAlien24 · 15/06/2023 19:40

@suz2285 enjoy the concert
@Cheeseycheeseycheesecheese im using what to expect and pregnancy+ apps

Im not sure do they weigh pregnant women in this country or my doc is just not doing it. Think i have to do it at home because with my first i gained 40+ kg and doc kept saying its ok you were skinny anyway 😏
With my second i gained a bit less but had different doc and she was worried. all the test were ok so never found out why am i gaining so much weight.
@sashastuck glad to hear your scan went well

Im not even gonna dream about home birth. With first i had emergency cesarian so i was really hoping for my second to be a normal birth but no had planned cesarian because they way she was positioned. And now with 3rd im not even given an option for normal birth 😔

ItsAJourney · 15/06/2023 19:40

@Kalodin Ah, that’s great and very reassuring!

@sashastuck Brilliant news, so pleased we all seem to have had good scans today.

Sambeaumont · 15/06/2023 19:57

Messaging to hold my place on this thread xx

Luhou · 15/06/2023 20:08

Pleased to hear of people's successful scans. I use baby centre at the moment but not had my booking appointment yet.

I have a big work event tomorrow night. After browsing the shops last week I deciced to wear a dress I've already got. Thought I'd try on tonight. Not a single dress fits me. I've had to go to tesco in a dash tonight and by a dress. 😬

hellopomelo · 15/06/2023 20:34

Hi everyone, long time lurker and first time posting in here!

I'm 10w1d and had a really good scan on Monday. So far I've been super lucky with sickness and only had a couple of moments of nausea (and one day where I felt nauseous all day).

Today however I've felt horribly nauseous all day, tried eating some plain bread and it didn't help. Been unable to work or do anything but stare at the ceiling. The only thing that made it better for a bit was a long nap. Then this evening I threw everything up (first vomit of the pregnancy!). Feeling better now (for now).

This is my first pregnancy (after a MC last year at 5 weeks). Has anyone else experienced sickness coming on so late?

Onedayatatime24 · 15/06/2023 21:10

@Dannic2018 I'm also consultant led but was told it'll probably be the same except for a couple of phone calls with a consultant 🤷‍♀️ my 12 week scan is 4th July where I'll be 11+5 so not too far behind you! I'm on Badger notes too, I can see my 12 week scan, 16 week appointment, 18 week consultant call, then something at week 27 which I think is a GD test appointment! Hopefully get some letters explaining what they're all for because I have no clue other than the scans! 😂

Onedayatatime24 · 15/06/2023 21:14

Has anyone bought a pregnancy pillow yet? Or if used in the past, is there a type/brand anyone would recommend? I've seen them range from £30-100+ in all different shapes and sizes. Are the more expensive ones any better?

I'm already overwhelmed at the pillow, god help me when it comes to buying stuff for baby!
