@suz2285 @Luhou I'm also more tired second time round. Actually first time I went in the office 4 days a week, now wfh 3 days, in office one. However last time I just slept in and had mostly uninterrupted sleep, less life admin so I think that's the difference. 😴And my job is a bit harder now. Also I'm finding I'm having nightmares - though some are quite odd. I think my husband knows how tired I am because I'm constantly looking exhausted 😩 Still we've had some terse exchanges cos I'm grumpy. Keep squeezing in those naps when you can!!

CarnelianArtist · 30/06/2023 07:14

Anyone else had this issue where you think you really want a certain food, put it on your plate then think, this is odd. I thought I wanted spicey eggs now I think it tastes strange, I used to love it.

Luhou · 30/06/2023 07:45

Thanks @suz2285 and @CarnelianArtist sounds like we're all in the same boat. I'm absolutely exhausted today, I debated calling in sick. I've got some lieu time to take, might see if I make it until 12.30 and take half a day back.

@CarnelianArtist absolutely get the fancying food and then not, really fancied southern fried chicken wrap for my lunch the other day. Two bites in decided it made me gag and had to throw the whole thing away. I often skip dinner, have no appetite in the evening.

ThomasinaLivesHere · 30/06/2023 07:55

@Luhou I think my hormones are a bit out of sorts and couldn’t sleep well last night as felt angry about things that couldn’t seem to let go.

Luhou · 30/06/2023 08:32

@ThomasinaLivesHere sorry you had a crap night. I feel like I need to sleep on my side now which is not my natural position. Plus was just really upset and like you couldn't let it go. Hope you're not feeling to rough today.

CarnelianArtist · 30/06/2023 08:55

@ThomasinaLivesHere oh no. This happens to me sometimes. Sometimes journaling before bed helps, still it just happens sometimes.

CarnelianArtist · 30/06/2023 08:58

Is it me or is this very annoying. My husband just left saying I'm now extremely late for work so I'll be back when I'm back!

It annoys me because I don't understand why he was late. He was up since 6:30. Basically it's the first morning in a while he's got our kid ready, as I was tired, and our kid was faffing a bit. Then I spoke about something on the mortgage. And the assumption is I'm wfh ill collect him from nursery.

Normally he's very nice but when it comes to mornings he's annoying.

Ugh..

Misspotterscat · 30/06/2023 09:04

hi all, sorry I’m such an infrequent poster on here, And now I’m here asking for advice/reassurance again.
I feel like my symptoms have greatly reduced. Last weekend I felt the sickest I have, and since Tuesday it’s just sort of gone. I was having really sore boobs early morning and in the evening too, and now they’re barely sore. I’m 10 weeks tomorrow. I am so worried that it’s a mmc. My anxiety is horrendous and I just find I spend my days googling over and over! Husband keeps telling me to relax and that everything is going to be fine, but I keep reading that week 9 and 10 should be the worse for symptoms - not that they will reduce so much.

cossie13 · 30/06/2023 09:44

@CarnelianArtist Yeah I think I'd find that annoying too tbh! Bloody men!

@Misspotterscat I'm in the infrequent poster's group too! These early weeks are such worrying weeks aren't they? I remember being told by a midwife with DD that around 9-10 weeks the placenta starts properly taking over so there's fewer hormones reeking havoc on our own bodies and we should in theory start to feel better. That's obviously not the case for everyone but I've found the last few days I'm feeling sick a lot less and less. Doesn't stop me worrying either though!

FirstT1meMum · 30/06/2023 09:50

Did anyone else have some tenderness after their 12 week scan? It feels like some slight bruising but there's no marks or anything, is this normal? X

Gremlin84 · 30/06/2023 10:12

@CarnelianArtist yes that is annoying! I think what you said to me the other day is correct - sometimes they just don't think. They don't mean it for the most part - their brains just go into slight self-interest mode even if they're normally very considerate. And somehow it's our job to make sure their lives run smoothly.

Mine had another evening of not really thinking this week - he went out just before I got home; I didn't know whether he was coming home for dinner so made myself something when I got too hangry and nauseous. Then he got home just as I was eating and asked why I didn't text him to ask if I should make him dinner too and how I always make myself food without thinking if he wants food. This time I very calmly stated that little bean means if I don't eat I feel sick, so I couldn't wait for him and needed something. That gave him a bit of a reality check, and then I got second dinner!

@FirstT1meMum yes I felt out of sorts after the scan - too much squishing! bean was wriggly so they needed to keeping moving the wand about and jabbing in all sorts of places.

@Misspotterscat my symptoms greatly reduced when I hit 9-10 weeks and my boobs now hardly hurt at all (getting comfy in bed is much easier!). Scan this week showed a happy wriggly baby so hopefully that reassures you. As others have said, the placenta starts to take over and that often makes things better.

buckingmad · 30/06/2023 10:15

@FirstT1meMum not so much 12 week but I felt really tender after my 20 week scan with my first. They really poke and prod around then! So I’m sure it’s normal.

@Misspotterscat I had 4 glorious days where I didn’t throw up every day around 10/11 weeks. It’s back again with a vengeance 🫠 so hopefully just a case of the placenta taking over and a change in hormones for you.

Dannic2018 · 30/06/2023 10:26

Happy Friday guys
boy am hanging out of my arse today. It’s like I’ve not slept and have before period rage, im
a proper grump today! Also feel like I’m getting bigger by the day? I’ve got a slightly tilted uterus this time so didn’t think I’d have a bump yet 🤷‍♀️

Vikki7 · 30/06/2023 10:27

I swear I'm feeling flutters at 13+4! Is that even possible? I'd love to hope it was baby but totally open to the idea of gas bubbles etc! This is my 3rd so maybe....?

With my 1st I never felt anything until close to 20 weeks and think I was around 16 with my second. How exciting!

Vikki7 · 30/06/2023 10:28

Lilothblos · 29/06/2023 22:13

Got our NIPT results back today (test was on Friday), all came back low risk and found out that it’s a girl! 💕 I was convinced it’s a boy because I’ve had very little nausea, just goes to show these things don’t necessarily mean anything! Feels much more real now I can say ‘she’!

Congrats on the NIPT results and how lovely to know you have a little girl on the way!

Luhou · 29/06/2023 20:22

Please tell me I'm not alone with just having emotional break downs. Feel like everything has just got to much tonight. Feeling like my DH is just not understanding how hard I'm finding thing at the moment. Just got so wound up asking for help to get DD to bed, just broke down and threw baby wipes across to bed at DH. Now just hysterically ashamed of how I behaved infront of my DD. Just can't keep my emotions in check at all.

I have real anxiety about coping when baby arrives, not feeling like DH stepping up yet at all and not only am I exhausted feel like it's making me more and more worried I won't manage with two.

Sorry for the rant, just hysterically sobbing to myself and nobody else to talk too. Feeling like the worst parent.

The night before last, I cried myself to sleep absolutely sure that nobody loved me and my kids coz my OH wanted me to send back the air conditoner I had bought!

Lightningrain · 30/06/2023 10:33

@FirstT1meMum yes I felt a bit tender after my scan. Baby was on its side and I had lie on both sides being prodded to try and get the right image on the screen. I then had to go drink loads more water so was very uncomfortable when I went back in (assume what I’d drunk already had been absorbed as it was a hot day).

Hi guys can I get your advice on whether you would announce yet or not?

We had our 12 week scan and saw a lovely bouncing baby! We live in France so the standard procedure here is to do the scan to take a look at the NT. then they take your bloods as standard for the NIPT. Then they give you a call the following day to tell you if your high, medium or low risk for chromosomal abnormalities.

My NT (at 11 weeks+6) was between 1.8mm and 2mm which the doctor said placed us in the medium risk. My age places me in the low risk. So the NIPT results will be a helpful final gauge.

My question is - would you hold off on announcing until you got your NIPT results, or is the French system just being overly cautious and in normal UK circumstances would they be bothering with the NIPT?

Basically we would love to shout it from the rooftops so having to wait feels rubbish!

Thanks in advance :)

It's when you feel ready. With my first, I never told anyone until 1 month after she was born. Nobody knew I was pregnant.

With my 2nd, it was about 11 weeks and with this one, I let people know at the beginning of this week (13+1)

Be aware of the extra attention though! My school run has gone from around 10 minutes to 20 minutes! I told my daughter, who in turn has told all of her friends and they come and ask me what will I name the baby, is the baby a boy or a girl etc!

cossie13 · 29/06/2023 10:09

Morning guys,

Had a scan yesterday after all the cramping and baby has grown and heartbeat was lovely and strong. Baby even did a little jump for us! She said I've got an extremely tilted uterus and its almost bent in the middle! I've never heard this before but when she said the pain was probably ligaments and everything straightening itself out, it actually makes sense now. And the bleed that was sat below baby is now a lot smaller than my last scan which is amazing too!

Hope you are all ok?

I was told this too. Apparently my uterus is tilted frontwards with this baby but has previously been retroverted with my other pregnancies. Hopefully it'll straighten itself out as baby grows :-)

WitcheryDivine · 30/06/2023 11:02

I cried listening to a song yesterday, and also cried because we're renting and I'm worried about the baby not having a stable home because we haven't managed to buy somewhere yet.

ThomasinaLivesHere · 30/06/2023 11:07

@Luhou @CarnelianArtist Thanks for your responses. A journal is a good idea. I’ve tried it in the past.

@Vikki7 I’m pretty sure I’ve felt movement too even though early. It’s my second pregnancy and with my last one the placenta was attached to the front and sonographer thought it would be at back this time so that usually means feeling more movement.

I’ve booked in for a NIPT test tomorrow and get scan with it too. It’s been two weeks since NHS testing so I’m assuming the results are good enough not to get it on NHS. Going to find out baby’s sex with it too.

Salamander91 · 30/06/2023 11:56

@Vikki7 I'm sure I was around 14 weeks when I felt my 3rd. I'm hoping I'll start to feel some movement soon 13+2 with baby #4

Bims2019 · 30/06/2023 12:21

Congrats @Lilothblos on the NIPT results!

I've not heard anything back on my combined test results yet, it's been a week so hoping that means it's come back low risk 🤞

I'm also with anyone who's been more emotional, not usually a crier but I've been weeping at pretty much everything I've watched for the last couple of weeks!

Does anyone have any recommendations on maternity clothes, especially for short people?! It feels early to be buying them but I'm not feeling comfy in any of my usual stuff. Ordered some non-maternity dresses the other day in a slightly bigger size and they just look like nighties on me 🤣 any help appreciated!

Gremlin84 · 30/06/2023 12:26

@Bims2019 I'd also be after recommendations! Only 5ft and even normal clothes were a struggle to find to fit properly.

Onedayatatime24 · 30/06/2023 12:30

@suz2285 @Mummyme87 I'm with you on not sleeping, I've been waking up 2-3 times a night for a wee and having the strangest dreams. I'm usually a heavy sleeper but anything seems to wake me now! Plus my back/hips have started to ache when sleeping for some reason? Waiting until our scan on Tuesday then might have to invest in a preggo pillow!

I'm in the office 5 days a week and it is brutal (and I just sit at a desk all day!). Eyes closing from about 2pm every afternoon, headaches, generally two sheets to the wind and no brain power to do anything useful.

Also glad to know it's not just me oscillating between super angry and crying! Since I hit 10/11 weeks, it's like the floodgates have opened. Think I've cried more in the last 2 months than I have in the last 5 years.
