Is anyone else struggling with temperature? We've had some gorgeous weather this week and I've been really warm at work but then it comes to about 7/8 at night and I'm so cold! Sat under my thick winter blanket while hubby is in shorts haha! Then overnight I can get quite warm again - not sure if it's as I get more tired through the day?

Yes! I’m currently replying to you from under a thick blanket then overnight I get too hot! I didn’t think it was a pregnancy thing but now you’ve mentioned it, maybe it is!

MustIthough · 26/05/2023 21:08

Hello, hope ok to join. First time pregnancy, 6+3. Helped with IVF. 36.
Terrified! Of everything really.. 6 week scan was good. Felt V nauseous today after feeling fine all along! Wrecked most evenings and another who’s cold from about 6pm then overheats during the night 🤷🏻‍♀️
feel a bit alone, husband lovely but missing a bit of support, like how the heck do you avoid the questions when you don’t have an alcoholic drink in a social setting? We seem to have a run of ‘do’s’ at the moment and me constantly being designated driver is getting a bit old.

xLJ1990x · 26/05/2023 21:15

I'm often cold too. At work others have been too hot while I've been frozen. Other days I seem to switch between hot and cold

Eirlys1986 · 26/05/2023 21:21

@MustIthough hello 👋, it is really difficult to avoid questions about alcohol at dos as some people can just be really clumsy and just come out with jokes about you being pregnant the minute you avoid alcohol! One of my friends basically got her husband to not drink with her when they went out to some things by saying they both had some important work or event etc to do the next day. It kind of seemed like when they both weren’t drinking it detracted from her own not drinking! Not sure whether your husband would be on board with that though?! Maybe a gentle explain to him that you are absolutely knackered so don’t feel able to stay late at dos etc when others are getting p*ed and you also perhaps don’t like having to be the driver when so tired? X

Eirlys1986 · 26/05/2023 21:23

Ps I’m also in the weird temperature fluctuations group. Was absolutely roasting during sunny trip to playground with toddler earlier, now under a blanket and running a (not too hot!) bath and will be flushed as anything about 3am 😂

Ttcdcno1 · 26/05/2023 21:29

nausea, burping and temp changes over here too! Trying to teach a bunch of rowdy energetic 7 year olds while feeling like you’re on a boat is not the one atm 🤢also currently under a thick duvet

FirstT1meMum · 26/05/2023 21:57

@Ttcdcno1 oh I feel your pain! Literally crawled to half term this time! Went on an outing with them yesterday, literal 10 minute coach trip and thought my gig was up when I thought I was about to puke 🤣

@Eirlys1986 @Miniheart so glad im not the only one, thought i was going mad!!

@MustIthough welcome and congratulations! 👋 It is such a roller coaster of a time and I know I certainly have felt overwhelmed and absolutely petrified! I've found this forum to be the best thing for me and my mental health. Being able to ask anything without fear of judgement has really helped as I don't particularly have a support network of women who have had children around me! Totally understand feeling quite alone, it's a strange time because you're excited but literally feel like I'm dealing with most on my own! Always here to support or listen whenever you need ❤️

MustIthough · 26/05/2023 22:12

@Eirlys1986 thank you, yes it’s really opening my eyes to how clumsy people can be! I will have a little chat with him I think. Just don’t want to jinx it by people guessing what’s going on!
@FirstT1meMum Thank you, I think this forum might be a lifesaver.

Congrats to all and looking forward to getting to know you

Panapan · 27/05/2023 07:05

Yes, definitely struggling with temperature here. Have to keep our bedroom freezing so that I don’t wake up drenched in sweat, but also suddenly shivery at random times!

Lovethatjourneyforme · 27/05/2023 07:13

@MustIthough congratulations on your pregnancy and successful 1st scan!
Having to hide not drinking is incredibly annoying, I am always driving but have one drink, which I take pretend sips from and every now and then when noones looking my husband drinks from 😆worked very well for us yesterday at a wedding but it depends how hawk eyed your friends are/how discreet you are haha.
You'll find lots of support in groups like this, and lots of people equally anxious in the first trimester (myself included!). I joined a group when I was pregnant with my little girl and we still talk every day 😊 she'll be 2 next week.

sashastuck · 27/05/2023 07:33

The support radiating from this group is just 😍😍😍 ahhh lovely. Hope everyone has a restful weekend and those going to hen dos/events manage to make it through without too many questions asked!

I’m not feeling the temperature changes too much just yet, but… toilet/digestion issues aplenty! Anyone else? Constipated but then the opposite will happen a few days later? It’s like a cycle now.

Hello ladies.

Hope okay to join. I'm currently 8 weeks today. Had an early scan due to bleeding and unfortunately it showed I was due twins but one hasn't survived. I'm still so nervous about future scans and have another on Monday to see if my body had absorbed the other and to make sure little baby that's survived is growing well. Anyone else really struggling with nausea? I've been prescribed cyclizine to help. Any other things that people have found help? Xx

lucya66 · 27/05/2023 07:55

@Knov20 welcome and sorry for the loss of one of your twins.

im finding cold apple slices help with the nausea a bit. And just eating in general very often. I feel most nauseous when I am hungry.

I am taking anti sickness medication but not sure how much it’s helping as I still feel sick.

Ttcdcno1 · 27/05/2023 08:03

I’m finding that too, I feel the most sick when I’m hungry.
the trapped wind also seems to be worse when my tummy is rumbling too

Eirlys1986 · 27/05/2023 08:04

@Knov20 so sorry to hear about the loss of one of the twins. I really hope all continues to go well for you from now on. Boots do ginger capsules you can buy for nausea so you could supplement the cyclizine with those?

Eirlys1986 · 27/05/2023 08:07

Also, on the subject of temperature fluctuations, just woke up absolutely soaking after the night from hell with our toddler. Think he has a canine coming through which is stopping him breastfeeding or using dummy comfortably overnight so he has been like something from the exorcist all night. Resorted to putting frozen on our bedroom tv at 3am 🙈 which we’ve literally never had to do overnight before. Now very predictably, he’s fast asleep and I don’t know when to wake him so as not to totally bugger up naps today. Sigh, it’s all made me feel more sick and OH is off to wembly today so I get a whole day and night to look after DS alone…. Yay 🎉

Muriel84 · 27/05/2023 08:25

@sashastuck this is me too and I was the same with my son. The constipation hit so bad early. I’ve started laxatives a week ago cos I had horrendous haemorrhoids by the end last time 🙈 I’m take progesterone pr and that seems to be having the opposite affect every few days. Fun. I did vomit my whole last pregnancy even during labour. Also no temp fluctuations I’ve noticed.

@Knov20 sorry you’ve had such a tough start to the pregnancy and for your loss.

@Eirlys1986 that does not sound like a fun night! I think frozen at 3am would finish me off! I’m sharing a room with my son cos we’re away which is so exciting he couldn’t go to sleep till 10pm apparently, and he talks in his sleep 🫠 hope frozen can buy you some quiet time today! X

@sashastuck yes on the digestive issues. The exact same here.

Im trying to eat lots of fibre and fruit and nothing is working! I miss my morning coffee but the taste is gross right now.

Hoping it sorts itself out but everything I read suggests it gets worse in the third trimester 😬

Eirlys1986 · 27/05/2023 08:32

Haha @Muriel84 sounds “exciting”. I take back the teething explanation. He’s just got up now and has stonking hand foot and mouth rash…..at least I know what it is now. 👍🏻 Hopefully I don’t get it but it’s no big deal in pregnancy anyway. Hope you have a lovely day if you are on a half term holiday? X

RG9895 · 27/05/2023 08:45

Hi! Thanks for inviting me to the 2nd thread, haven't been on much as keep muting it so no one sees it pop up on my phone 😂

So happy for everyone having successful scans ❤️

The sickness has well and truly kicked in, not been physically sick but feel sick all day long apart from when I'm eating! I am doing the same and basically constantly snacking which is not good as I fear I am going to get huge just hope the sickness goes in a few weeks 😂

Told my mum&dad yesterday and couldn't have gone any better! No idea why I was so nervous, was anyone else? telling my sister today!

Ttcdcno1 · 27/05/2023 09:02

@RG9895 ive told a couple of friends, the same ones I told about my CP so I would want them there again if anything did happen again this time.
nervous to tell my mum because she has such big, dramatic reactions😂so she’s not getting told til the 12 week scan and everything is alright 🤞🏻

Ttcdcno1 · 27/05/2023 09:04

@Knov20 sorry for your loss of one of the twins. I hope everything continues to go well for you now 💐

Eirlys1986 · 27/05/2023 09:06

@Ttcdcno1 and @RG9895 so far only myself and partner know at 6 weeks. With first pregnancy we told parents after private 8 week scan. May wait till after a 10 week scan and harmony testing this time as for some reason I feel a bit more insecure this time around.

Miniheart · 27/05/2023 09:14

@Knov20 Thinking of you and sorry to hear about the loss of one of your babies.

Like others my nausea definitely is better if I keep snacking.

My first pregnancy was during the first wave of covid so it was so much easier to not tell people / hide not drinking because we didn’t see anyone.

Off to the hen do now with a bag of snacks and nosecco!

Muriel84 · 27/05/2023 09:23

@Eirlys1986 oh poor guy! My son had it at about 9months but not badly at all. I didn’t get it, I recall having it as a child and it was horrible! We’re at my parents out in the sticks for the long weekend. Lots of baby sitters so I can try and rest! Hope you’re stocked up on ibuprofen and calpol and he gets over it quickly. X
