Amazing thank you so much guys

@sashastuck i actually have no idea either but it would be nice to see the same person throughout! Hopefully it all goes ok 🤞🏼

Matildahoney · 02/06/2023 13:12

@sashastuck I had my triage appointment yesterday & got my booking in appointment for Weds, she told me you see the same midwife the whole way through, and once we were off the phone she requested my scan, she told me to ring the scan clinic next week to get my date (as we go away in 2 weeks) because they're so slow to send the letters out so I can check it doesn't clash and rearrange now if I have to.
I guess everywhere is probably different though as with all of this!

Eirlys1986 · 02/06/2023 13:46

Sounds great @Matildahoney - as you say it is different in every area. Unfortunately with my first pregnancy I think I saw the same midwife two times in a row only and the rest of the time it was locums/midwives covering from other areas as they are very short staffed. My booking was done via telephone and will be phone again on this occasion too. It’s a shame there’s a big variation in care people are getting depending on area but that’s life I suppose! 👍🏻

cossie13 · 02/06/2023 13:50

@Lilothblos Eeeek, yes that's a long time to wait or at least it feels like it! Good luck and I hope it goes really well!

Literally just waiting for the clock to tick over so I can finish work now

Matildahoney · 02/06/2023 14:01

@Eirlys1986 there really does need to be consistency, it's an absolute minefield! It's so hard to know what we should be doing and what to expect!
Mind you it's seems like so many people are pregnant at the moment! I know 6 friends/friends of friends!

Mummyme87 · 02/06/2023 15:07

@sashastuck if your booking appt is in the antenatal clinic at the hospital then it likely won’t be the same midwife. They are the out of area midwives but do most of the bookings for all community teams, except the continuity teams who do their own. Also the maternal medicine team do their own bookings.

I’m waiting for my midwife to let me know when she’s booked my appt for, I know it’s w/c 12th June but we haven’t arranged a date.

Buttonmoon86 · 02/06/2023 15:26

I have my 12 week scan on 23rd June, it was arranged at my booking appointment. Only 3 weeks to go 😊

Lightningrain · 02/06/2023 15:38

For those waiting for 12 week scan appointments, I had my booking appointment today and the midwife gave me the number to call and book the scan.

I rang as soon as I got home and managed to book in for when I’ll be 12w+2 so 3 weeks to wait.

Bims2019 · 02/06/2023 17:00

@Buttonmoon86 my 12 week scan is booked for 23rd June as well! 3 weeks doesn't seem too long to wait now.

@sashastuck I think I'll see the same midwife throughout as she's based at my GP surgery, so maybe it depends on where your appointments are based? The midwife made the scan referral to the hospital at my booking appt, then I got the letter with a date 2 days later! Which surprised me as she said it could take a couple of weeks. It seems to vary so much from place to place, and I'm guessing on how busy they are!

For anyone asking about telling work, I believe you have to inform your employer by no later than 15 weeks before your expected week of childbirth. So you're not obligated to say anything for a while yet, but it does usually help to make them aware sooner in case you need any support, and they can carry out a risk assessment if needed 😊 some companies will do this as standard anyway.

Bims2019 · 02/06/2023 17:07

Also just to add (I've worked in HR in case it's not obvious 😂), most people would usually let us know about their pregnancy officially at around the time they get their MATB1 form - at about 20 weeks. But lots would also tell their manager sooner, so I think do what feels best for you!

cossie13 · 02/06/2023 17:17

Scan went really well, measuring between 6 & 7 weeks and there was a good strong heartbeat ❤️❤️❤️

Thanks for the advice regarding midwives everyone. I guess I’ll wait and see!

@cossie13 awww! Amazing! X

@cossie13 lovely news, so glad it went well!!

Eirlys1986 · 02/06/2023 18:07

Great news @cossie13 💕

stressshead · 02/06/2023 19:20

Finally have my booking appointment and scan feels like I've been waiting for ages, makes it feel abit more real I still don't think I'll believe it till scan on Monday tho.

So pleased to see everyone scans going so lovely x

Lilothblos · 02/06/2023 19:27

My scan went well too, measuring 7w5d which is a few days ahead of what I had thought. Saw a heartbeat so all looking good so far 😊

MimosasInFrance · 02/06/2023 20:45

I've started spotting again this evening, feels really scary even though I know it's probably just the haematoma. Typical after feeling so positive yesterday!

DearSam48 · 02/06/2023 21:46

Rough day for me today. I've been struggling with my sickness and my anti-sickness meds stopped working so I ended up in the EPU on an IV drip to sort my fluids and provide me with more anti-sickness medication. I really stress ladies if you're struggling with your sickness get to the EPU as there is so much they can do to help you. I feel so validated and so much better after days of feeling like I was failing. :)

cossie13 · 02/06/2023 22:07

Thanks everyone 🥰 was very emotional seeing that heartbeat, absolutely incredible. She said that black but just up and to the left of baby is either a small bleed or a second sac that just didn't take. That would explain some of my cramping!

@Lilothblos so glad your scan went well too!!

@DearSam48 that awesome that they've helped you. Hope you're feeling better soon

ThomasinaLivesHere · 03/06/2023 07:19

@DearSam48 Sorry you’re going through that sounds terrible. Hopefully things get better soon. For most i believe it stops at second trimester.

ItsAJourney · 03/06/2023 08:38

Cor, this thread moves so quickly. I’ve been off for a few days and missed so much!

Congratulations to everyone who has had positive scans. It sounds like such an emotional and amazing experience to hear a little heartbeat. Our viability scan is on the 15th so feels a lifetime away!

I’m off to a counselling session in a bit and so excited to share my news. It’s really all down to my counsellor that this has happened as she was the one who encouraged me to seek help for fertility treatment in the first place. It’s been over a year since we first discussed it and I can’t wait to see her reaction!

sashastuck · 03/06/2023 09:09

@ItsAJourney aww that’s beautiful, you must share her reaction! How lovely! The 15th will be here before you know it 😅

Mummyme87 · 03/06/2023 11:32

@ItsAJourney that will be lovely to share with her ♥️

oh god I just hate this constant nausea. It just lasts all day. Sometimes I can pacify it a bit with carbs but getting worse. Such a yucky feeling, and I just can’t face talking to anyone when I’m feeling like this

Ttcdcno1 · 03/06/2023 12:06

I’m fine most of the day until I start thinking about making tea/sitting down for tea. Just no appetite for it then and I love my food 😩hits me most at night

FirstT1meMum · 03/06/2023 12:16

Sorry, me again! 🙈Not sure if anyone else experiences this but I've been getting slight niggling pains in my sides, sometimes spreading across the front of my tummy. Doesn't last long and is usually when I move. Not experienced anything like this yet, am I freaking out over nothing??? I have no spotting or bleeding and am 8W +4. Just totally new to the whole thing and questioning everything I do and don't feel!
