Scan went better than I expected :)

Heartbeat seen and no cause found for the bleeding. Only slight issue was dates aren't quite right. I should be 6+6 but measured 6+1. I tested positive reaaally early though so 6+1 just isn't possible. I have read it's very hard to date at this stage though because it's so tiny and it's not unusual for them to 'catch up' at the next scan so 🤞

Bleeding has now mostly gone brown. I did have treatment for a cervical ectropion last year so wondering if that has maybe come back?!

I've been given progesterone pessaries. Any tips from anyone already on them? I've never used them before.

Thank you for all the well wishes etc. Glad to hear your scan went well too @sashastuck

Cheeseycheeseycheesecheese · 30/05/2023 17:06

So pleased for the good news scans!!!!

I tried to rearrange my booking in appointment today, no luck 🤦‍♀️ (apparently lots of pregnant women where I live and theres a 2 week block with no clinic too, so it's that slot or when I'm 12 weeks which is less than ideal) they've booked me in midday, midweek. I'm in a school and share a car with dh, I work nowhere near my gp surgery (or dh for that matter), so will be out out for hours rather than an hour and a halfish 🤦‍♀️

Redpanda21 · 30/05/2023 17:08

@PartRadish great news.

I’m on progesterone. Advice is use rectally, no mess that way and your rear is more ahem accepting!

Eirlys1986 · 30/05/2023 17:12

@PartRadish great news about your scan 👍🏻 x

Salamander91 · 30/05/2023 17:16

@sashastuck aww wee jelly baby! So cute!

@PartRadish I had the same. My scan was at 7+3 but measured 6+5. I'm really anxious about it so I've booked another scan for Thurs evening. I should be 9+1 then so hopefully bambino has caught up.

CatLadyH · 30/05/2023 17:51

Glad to hear scans went well @sashastuck 😍 so cute & @PartRadish
First day back at work after BFP and I’m so tired 🥱 we’ve booked an early scan for end of June so I should be 8wk+5 then according to LMP, very anxious (trying not to be) but also excited!

Buttonmoon86 · 30/05/2023 18:01

Great news @PartRadish 😊

suz2285 · 30/05/2023 18:38

@sashastuck aww little arm buds! So cute, I'm hoping for the same at my early scan as I'm booked for 8+3 I think! 🤞 was that external?

Great news @PartRadish and yeah about the size they're so small at this stage it's so hard to measure so def wouldn't worry at all about it being a few days out, also they're just averages and we all know not everyone falls into the averages esp when talking about mm's of a difference, so good all is ok though! I've been checking for an update from you a few times today 😂

All very exciting!

FirstT1meMum · 30/05/2023 19:12

Amazing news about your scans! So pleased for you 🥰

RaspberryTime · 30/05/2023 20:01

@sashastuck @PartRadish So happy for both of your scan news posts today ❤️

Nausea fully kicking in at 7w+5 here 🤢 Can’t wait for bed time so I can get some relief for a few hours!

Misspotterscat · 30/05/2023 20:12

So lovely seeing the good news about scans and the pictures 🥰.

I have contacted my gp today to refer me to early pregnancy unit as I was told to following my mc last time. Hoping I’ll get a scan in the next week or two to check all is well.

sashastuck · 30/05/2023 20:21

Thank you everyone!❤️
@suz2285 no that was internal, they said they do all internal until 10 weeks. It was fine though!

@Misspotterscat hope you get your scan!

Hello again all,
I just had an early scan too! 7+6 days I thought but measuring 7+5 which sonographer said is fine! Thought I may be having an internal vaginal scan as it's still early but managed to see it all with the ultrasound and saw the flickering heartbeat!

Made it all feel so much more real, I've been feeling so paranoid and anxious lately something is wrong and the sonographer was really helpful.

He did mention something about a small cyst on my right ovary which apparently is common in pregnancy and most likely caused from being the side I ovulated. It explains why I have had some pain twinges in this side but he said its nothing to worry about. Yet I am still a little worried - anyone had something similar or know more about it?

Sorry for late reply been busy and just catching up on the thread.

When I had my early scan with DS they found a cyst on my ovary, and it was not small (measured over 10cm!!!) and still did not cause any issues with pregnancy. I did have a few extra growth scans because it was so massive but carried a perfectly healthy boy to 40weeks.
I suspect if yours is small they won't even worry about it at all. Since had mine removed because it was so huge and was a dermoid cyst rather than a standard one but from all the reading I did on them (I'm a nurse so did a lot of research!) smaller ones can just go away on their own over time

Knov20 · 30/05/2023 20:50

@RaspberryTime sorry to hear you're struggling with nausea too. It's just the puts isn't it. Last baby was during covid so I was automatically off work and didn't have a toddler to run about after. I'm really struggling this time. I've got cyclizine but it's not helping!

Lululumpkin · 30/05/2023 20:57

God I am out here feeling so nauseous tonight - sending love and solidarity to anyone else feeling rough too. It can feel so isolating xxx

RG9895 · 30/05/2023 21:06

So happy to see all the positive scans! 💕

I'm 8 weeks tomorrow and can't believe how quick it's going! Nausea kicked in about a week and a half ago and don't seem to be giving me a break 🤢 glad I'm not alone but wish we all felt back to normal! Praying it goes when we all hit 12 weeks 🙏🏼

ThomasinaLivesHere · 30/05/2023 21:35

Good to read about the positive scans. I know how worrying it can be with bleeding.

It is amazing how quickly babies grow. I only had the 12 week scan with my first child and it’s so different to the 9 week scan I recently had.

Onedayatatime24 · 30/05/2023 21:49

@PartRadish congrats on the scan! They told me today that future scans might shift my measurements/dates a few days either way and that's it normal and nothing to be worried about as just hard to get it accurate so early. So fingers crossed all good and things will iron out as time goes on. ☺️

lucya66 · 30/05/2023 22:06

Sorry to those with the bad nausea. I’m still deep in it too. Some days worse than others.

its rough out here. Hope you find relief. Xx

Luhou · 31/05/2023 07:18

I've been struggling with nasuea also, but I find it's worse when I get hungry. Even if I don't feel like it if jusf force myself to have a cereal bar or toast it seems to settle. I was very sick the first time round less so this time so far - these are my findings!

Eirlys1986 · 31/05/2023 07:25

@Luhou definitely correctly about eating settling things 👍🏻, problem is that this results in a constant stream of snacking for me all day!
@Muriel84, @TrudyProud @Mummyme87 how are we all?

Cheeseycheeseycheesecheese · 31/05/2023 07:34

Those of you that had spotting, at what point did you contact epu? I wiped last night after a wee and there was brown sludgy like discharge, and this morning, same again mixed with some bright red. I know spotting this early is normal, but I just want to check I'm not over reacting? I've got light cramping on the left side and my lower stomach.

Luhou · 31/05/2023 07:36

@Eirlys1986 yeah I know what you mean about snacking, I am keeping my fingers crossed that it's only for a few more weeks. I try avoid a big meals f I've been snacking all day too. I seem to only fancy the bland and beige too which isn't ideal.

lucya66 · 31/05/2023 08:06

Yea agreed, food is the only thing that manages the nausea. Toast first thing in the morning and then constant snacks every hour. I’m eating pretty much four small meals a day now.

sometimes I feel so full but I just need to keep eating to be able to work through the sickness.

praying it ends soon for us all :)

EL27 · 31/05/2023 08:21

@Bimbley thanks for your reply!

I'm glad to hear your cyst didn't cause any problems with your pregnancy. It must have been a relief to get it removed at 10cm big.

He did say it was fine as it was small and common in early pregnancy? I just panicked when I heard the word cyst. I think I'll ask them about it at the 12 week scan for more info.

Thanks for your reply though its reassuring, I haven't really felt any weird twinges on that side since my early scan, so hoping that's a good thing 😅
