Hi guys. Another new thread here.
Baby #2 for us. Currently 17wk5. Baby due 24th Oct.
20 week scan on 9th June - planning to not finder out sex. We didn't with our 1st and loved the excitement of not knowing. We literally bought a pack of 6 white babygrows to take to the hospital and then when our DS was born we got loads of boys clothes from family & friends as gifts.
This worked well for us as I felt he did wear everything more than once.
My sis who found out she was having a little girl bought loads of clothes herself and then all the gifts from family too. She felt as though alot of it was wasted either only worn once if at all. Some stuff still had tags on when she took it to the charity shop xx

Sorry ladies this is a total vanity question, but is anyone else’s belly button popping out? Mine is really giving me the ick as used to be an ‘inny’ and seems to be on the verge of popping out. I am hoping it’ll just stay flat now but I’m only 26 weeks and it’s freaking me out 🤣 I wonder if it would go back in after birth….oh glamorous pregnancy 😆

katherine123x · 18/07/2023 19:38

@Summer022 i currently look at mine three times a day. It feels like there's no inny left and it's not one or the other! I feel like any day now it's going to be an outy! Only really happened (or maybe noticed) the last week or so!

doeandfawn · 18/07/2023 20:15

@Summer022 I’ve had to take my piercing out as both holes are now far outside the actual belly button! 25+1 so intrigued to see how much further it will push

Sagittarius25 · 18/07/2023 20:42

@Summer022 25+4 and defo got an outie 😂 belly piercing has also been out since 15 weeks

PeopleAreToads · 18/07/2023 21:56

@Summer022 mine seems to have suddenly changed at 26 weeks, definitely going to be outie soon. One corner of it seems to stick out depending on where the baby is

Saturnsmoon · 19/07/2023 02:58

@Summer022 ha, of all the bodily changes this has been the one I’ve been dreading the most, seems so silly really. I could tell it was changing from relatively only early on but only now with 28weeks has it really gone from inny to flat. I’m anticipating it becoming an outy before birth. My boss had an outy from 12 weeks though so seems to vary a lot.

I'm away at the moment (touching 40° 🥵 ). I've always had thunder thighs but is anyone finding chafing worse when pregnant? Maybe just me 🐳

Needtobuildabridge · 19/07/2023 10:17

@ttcttc the chaffing is a nightmare! I’ve had a permanent red patch at the top of each thigh for about 10 weeks now 😭

FirstTimeMamaAtHalloween · 19/07/2023 11:58

@ttcttc the chafing is SO bad. I grabbed some cotton maternity cycling shorts and they’ve been a godsend

ttcttc · 19/07/2023 12:04

Glad it's not just me. I got some maternity anti chaf shorts from next and some that are a knock off snag ones from asos which were only £7! But they have a see through panel on the belly (I call it the telly tubby window 😂) but you obv can't see that and they work!

Chanteuse · 19/07/2023 12:21

I haven’t chafed too badly but I’d definitely recommend liquid talc for chafing!

doeandfawn · 19/07/2023 12:56

@ttcttc I took 2 pairs of the asda maternity shorts with me and ended up having to wash both every day 🙃

ttcttc · 19/07/2023 14:05

I just sweat the talc off 😂 I think it's the rubbing feeling I hate most!

Haha washing both both days, well I'm not that bad but we haven't gone far through the day maybe when we do go off somewhere 😅

FirstTimeMamaAtHalloween · 20/07/2023 09:30

Anyone else’s hips just SO sore in the wee hours of the mornings? I’m always ok initially in bed then end up tossing and turning because my hips begin to ache laying on my side!

katherine123x · 20/07/2023 11:09

@FirstTimeMamaAtHalloween it's excruciating for me!!! No matter what I do, what pillow I use etc. this happens every single night!

Summer022 · 20/07/2023 13:19

@FirstTimeMamaAtHalloween @katherine123x yep same here! Achy hips every single night and so tiring have to keep changing sides every little while!

FirstTimeMamaAtHalloween · 20/07/2023 13:27

@katherine123x @Summer022 same! My pregnancy pillow has helped with various other aches but it doesn’t seem to matter what I do for my hips!

booked my NCT classes today (accompanied by a small cry from my credit card) - feels good to have another thing ticked off the ever growing list!

kingfisher168 · 20/07/2023 23:30

I've been having the same excruciating hip pain every night, even when using a pillow (just using a normal one) until I realised I have been sleeping in the wrong position. I thought the idea was to put the pillow between legs and rest the other leg on top of the pillow, but then I rolled the leg further so that the knee of the top leg is touching the mattress, so you're almost sleeping half on your stomach and half on your side (if that makes sense). And oh my it has made so much difference!

Saturnsmoon · 21/07/2023 00:11

@kingfisher168 yes! I had the same experience. My physio basically told me you have to make sure your hips are NOT stacked as that’s what causes the pressure. So if you are lying on your left, having your left leg out straight and your right leg pulled up and out resting on a pillow. Was a bit surprised because as you said does feel almost like you are going towards sleeping on your tummy but it’s made a huge difference for me.

FirstTimeMamaAtHalloween · 21/07/2023 07:02

@kingfisher168 @Saturnsmoon thank you! Woke up at 4am again today with the hip pain/heartburn combo so defo going to try that!

katherine123x · 21/07/2023 09:31

Me too!! Thanks ladies!!

Sagittarius25 · 21/07/2023 17:57

26 weeks today and pretty sure I had indigestion hit for the first time after lunch, was uncomfortable all afternoon but gaviscon has helped almost immediately thankfully 😅 also so knackered today!

monsteramunch · 21/07/2023 18:36

Bit disappointed my 28 week appointment was never booked in and I had to push for it and chase it up! Hopefully just a one off as my midwife has been great until now. Looking forward to having it next week as I think I'll get measured and probably hear her heartbeat again 😊

Recent blood test showed I'm very anaemic so that must be a big part of why I'm so absolutely knackered. And out of breath. Started iron therapy now so hopefully it will help soon.

To the PPs who had painful hips, did trying some new sleep positions help last night? I've been lucky so far and not had hip pain but it sounds horrible so I feel for you!

ForeverAndEvers · 21/07/2023 19:07

@monsteramunch so annoying about your appointment, hopefully it's just a blip like you said. Hope it goes well next week.

I just found out I need iron too yesterday. My results weren't severe but hoping this explains why I've been so tired and having heart palpitations. I need to go pick up the prescription. Hope the iron therapy works well for you.

Oh our red book came today for baby! That feels like a real human is about to arrive!
