Hi guys. Another new thread here.
Baby #2 for us. Currently 17wk5. Baby due 24th Oct.
20 week scan on 9th June - planning to not finder out sex. We didn't with our 1st and loved the excitement of not knowing. We literally bought a pack of 6 white babygrows to take to the hospital and then when our DS was born we got loads of boys clothes from family & friends as gifts.
This worked well for us as I felt he did wear everything more than once.
My sis who found out she was having a little girl bought loads of clothes herself and then all the gifts from family too. She felt as though alot of it was wasted either only worn once if at all. Some stuff still had tags on when she took it to the charity shop xx

Is anyone really struggling in this heat/mugginess? I’ve felt so sick and dizzy the last week or so not sure if it’s best or the nausea has come back. I’m 27 weeks today so last trimester!!

Definitely! It’s exhausting. I actually fainted a couple of weeks ago too, which was mainly down to going too long between meals (lesson learned!!) but it was also a muggy day, and I feel more dehydrated than usual as the temperature goes up.

I make sure I have three ice cube trays in the freezer at any one time, and have a big oscillating fan on when watching TV.

I keep telling myself this is better than having a baby in winter, and risk being snowed in on The Big Day.

LWestYorks · 10/07/2023 16:00

@ES1986 I thought i were going to pass out yesterday I went really off it was awful, and today I don’t feel much better but I’m drinking 2l + too! I just feel so so off 😫 how far are you? X

ES1986 · 10/07/2023 17:32

@LWestYorks 24 weeks. It’s annoying cos pre-pregnancy I was relatively active, and I’m struggling to take it easy without feeling like a slob. But if I over-exert myself I soon know about it.

I used to think pregnant women were overplaying how hard it is. Oh karma’s a bitch 😆😫

This was me! "Can't be that bad" oh it is 😂

FirstTimeMamaAtHalloween · 10/07/2023 18:55

@LWestYorks completely, sleep is so tricky at the mo! Maternity cycle shorts have been a lifesaver for stopping heat rash though and I’m glued to my fan!

Smiffette · 10/07/2023 19:36

I'm with you all on the dizziness! I left the office earlier because it was so hot and I felt all faint and horrible. Was so much nicer at home, plus I can lay on my bed if I feel dizzy again.

Like OP I was always active pre babies, that's the one change I found hardest, not being able to gym as much as I used to. I'm trying to go more up to the birth but feel so shattered especially in this muggy heat.

OrionNebula · 10/07/2023 20:38

@Smiffette fair play to you for going at all! I usually run 2-3 times per week but had to stop at around 14 weeks this time, I was just too knackered.

I felt really exhausted/dizzy spells last week. I did my blood pressure at work and was low.
I had my 25 week midwife appointment and asked them to do my bloods a little early (think they are normally done at 28w), anyways came back I’m anaemic, despite taking pregnancy vitamins from the beginning. So if feeling dizzy it could be that? They’ve started me on iron tablets and just trying to eat spinach/more meat ect

LWestYorks · 10/07/2023 21:07

Thanks for your replies! @HVHT i actually have my 28 weeks appt on Friday so they’ll do my bloods then, but I’m on iron tablets anyway as had low iron from the start (I did with my last pregnancy too) I just feel so out of sorts and dizzy. But I’m drinking enough and eating more than enough 🤣

GemmaJen · 10/07/2023 22:53

After some advice. I know I'm being unreasonable but I keep putting of the decision. Pre pregnancy we bought tickets to see a gig on the 31st October, my favourite band and the first time they've toured in 4 or 5 years, and no promises they'll tour again. I'm likely to have a section on the 18th October. Am I mad to consider still going? My friends think I am, but I'm not very good at being told no 😂 My mother would watch the little one, so not so worried about that element. But is a concert 2 weeks after a section madness? I had an unplanned section last time after 24hrs of labour, so presumably a planned section will be a quicker recovery? Should I just sell my ticket? 😭

katherine123x · 11/07/2023 08:07

Amazon prime day for any ladies who have that!! There's some great deals ...
The breast pump i think we like is £50 off. Can't decide whether to buy it or not but some other great offers on there!

LaVitesse2022 · 11/07/2023 09:19

@GemmaJen I can see that'd be a tricky one for you if it's your favourite band and they're unlikely to tour again. But I think YABU to consider a concert just shy of 2 weeks after a c-section. Planned or not, it's major abdominal surgery. You're unlikely to be well rested too, with a newborn. I personally wouldn't consider going 😬

OrionNebula · 11/07/2023 11:37

Just had antenatal check with my gp and another one with slightly low blood pressure here, felt a bit headachey & sick yesterday so that makes sense. Also got the whooping cough vaccine done.

monsteramunch · 11/07/2023 13:41

Massively lost my appetite the last few days after months of wanting to each much more than I do outside of pregnancy! Trying to eat little and often but really no appetite at all. Is anyone else having the same? I'm 26+1 now,

Also absolutely knackered. I've said it before but I don't know how those of you with children already are managing it - you're amazing!

NSx · 11/07/2023 15:15

@katherine123x just bought my nuby rapid cool for £25 on that 🎉 which breast pump were u looking at. I can’t decide between them all 🥹

katherine123x · 11/07/2023 16:27

@NSx so difficult isn't it. Mom cozy m5 I think but I. Am pretty clueless !!

kingfisher168 · 11/07/2023 16:33

I was massively recommended the Haaka, which basically collects letdown while you're nursing and tends to collect enough for another feed. You might find that it's enough just to do that without spending money on electric ones?

Ss32 · 11/07/2023 17:07

@GemmaJen sorry to say but I think we’ll the tickets! My last section was emergency but I certainly wasnt up to going anywhere in the first few weeks!

peonygirl · 11/07/2023 17:14

@GemmaJen I honestly think you need to give your body the rest it deserves, it will go through a massive change during pregnancy and then an operation, forcing it out of bed within 2 weeks seems too much for me. I am sorry, I know how painful this is, I will forever regret not going to Linkin Park concert when they were in London but you have a very valid reason to miss the concert - you are getting a new human :)

@kingfisher168 I am with you on this one, all my friends suggested hand pump in the first instance.

Koalawhala · 11/07/2023 17:23

@monsteramunch I lost my appetite for a couple of weeks and I’m sure I don’t eat as much as I used to pre pregnancy (I’m 24 weeks now). I was thinking it was down to space as I feel quite uncomfortable after eating sometimes.

My kids are on school holidays now so no downtime for me anymore! 😂

peonygirl · 11/07/2023 19:31

@Koalawhala oh you're a saint! I am also 24w and hardly handle myself. Just reading "kids are out of school" made me dizzy. I hope you get some me time.

I am so tired every day and any student I need to see just feels like a burden. I can handle meetings and writing/preparing/designing lectures but can't handle over-entitled students. I have no patience, I am otherwise super patient, but now that I am pregnant I just can't deal with bull**it.

peonygirl · 11/07/2023 19:33

@monsteramunch I need to eat nearly every 2h bcos I can only eat small meals. Otherwise I am sick, indigestion is back with a vengeance and my stomach feels super full and hard. Really uncomfortable. As a result I feel I eat less than normal, I am grazing rather than enjoying a meal.

Alexandra07 · 11/07/2023 20:33

@GemmaJen I think that it will be too soon for you to go to a concert. Will you actually have the energy to go to a concert after such a big operation? Hormones may not even allow you to leave baby for 5 minutes! Your body will go through so much, it deserves some rest! But I understand it's a hard decision now, once baby is here and you fall in love again(and you go through the c section recovery), the decision will be easy!

Alexandra07 · 11/07/2023 20:34

Anyone feeling intense pain under the belly for short periods? e.g. a couple of minutes? Should I assume my uterus/ligaments are stretching?
