Hi guys. Another new thread here.
Baby #2 for us. Currently 17wk5. Baby due 24th Oct.
20 week scan on 9th June - planning to not finder out sex. We didn't with our 1st and loved the excitement of not knowing. We literally bought a pack of 6 white babygrows to take to the hospital and then when our DS was born we got loads of boys clothes from family & friends as gifts.
This worked well for us as I felt he did wear everything more than once.
My sis who found out she was having a little girl bought loads of clothes herself and then all the gifts from family too. She felt as though alot of it was wasted either only worn once if at all. Some stuff still had tags on when she took it to the charity shop xx

@monsteramunch stairs weren't a problem for me after a full labour ending in an emergency section. It was more sitting up, lying down and standing up that were challenging... Sitting down and getting up of the loo were the worst - I needed something to hold on to or someone to help me up and down. But once upright - walking and stairs we're fine, just slow and steady obviously.

Ss32 · 01/07/2023 21:41

@monsteramunch i had an emergency section in 2020 and I don’t remember the stairs being any more difficult than anything else. It’s more anything that uses your stomach muscles such as getting out of bed/off the sofa etc

@ES1986 I'm with you on being uncomfortable (although feeling fine today!). Usually by the time I’ve finished work and got my LO showered and to bed, everything hurts!

Summer022 · 01/07/2023 22:59

Thanks ladies re downstairs sleeping ideas. Just managed to order the bugaboo dragonfly as they are back in stock! It looks so simple and compact and the fact it folds down all in one is a no brainer for us. So excited for it to arrive!

Koalawhala · 02/07/2023 09:45

@SillyOldBear3 I like the hazelwood and birch options too for the Nuna Mixx, they’re lovely. Where did you get your hazelwood one from? I can only see it as part of a big bundle with car seat etc which we don’t need

SillyOldBear3 · 02/07/2023 10:15

@Koalawhala We got ours from a shop called Jolly Tots Ltd, they're not local to us but they can courier to any address. Ours was an amazing deal, almost half the RRP! Might be worth dropping them a message to see if they have pram-only options. They have some really good deals on their social media daily!

Has anyone experienced low iron levels during pregnancy? I've been experienced really low levels of energy lately that I'm suspecting could be it. It's a different kind of tiredness, and I've otherwise been feeling very well.

OrionNebula · 02/07/2023 20:55

@LaVitesse2022 I had that with my first pregnancy and got put on galfer. My first set of bloods at 12 weeks came back normal for iron this time but I probably need to get it checked again.

LaVitesse2022 · 02/07/2023 20:59

@OrionNebula right, I was wondering if this is something you can get later on even if clear at 12 weeks. I think we get our blood checked at the 28 week appt but that is still over 2 weeks away, I might ring antenatal dept this week.

OrionNebula · 02/07/2023 21:01

@LaVitesse2022 yes if you're concerned then definitely do. I'll wait until 28 weeks I think, I am very tired but have been throughout this pregnancy. I don't want to go on galfer again unless I have to, it's quite hard on the stomach. I'm a vegetarian too so probably particularly susceptible to it.

doeandfawn · 02/07/2023 21:25

@LaVitesse2022 mine is low and continuing to drop. Dizziness, nausea, breathlessness, exhaustion etc all far worse than usual. It’s worth checking in with midwife if you’re concerned and just asking for otc iron suggestions.

Chanteuse · 02/07/2023 23:08

I’ve had lots of bouts of anaemia due to my endo over the years - though surprisingly none in pregnancy so far! Best advice is to take your iron supplements with orange juice as you’ll absorb a lot more that way.

LaVitesse2022 · 03/07/2023 17:26

@Chanteuse thanks, that's helpful to know. I don't want to take supplements if unnecessary as there seems to be some side effects some people experience. Will try and get levels checked

Hi ladies, is anyone still carrying very low? I feel him still super low and sometimes I feel his feet pressing all the way down on my pubic bone, quite uncomfortable. I worry because my belly is not really big. I am 23 weeks and everyone is looking at me like I am not quite pregnant yet (just fat :)). Not sure what to think, I have consultant appointment next week and I will ask then. So far no one at the hospital was concerned with the size of my belly though.

Onethingiwantfor23 · 03/07/2023 22:19

Hi @peonygirl I also seem to be carrying low. I have an anterior placenta and have only just felt it moving in the last week (24 weeks today). It feels like bubbling around or just above my pubic bone. It's Ann odd sensation and I don't feel it often.
I also don't think my bump is that big and just feel fat rather than pregnant but others say I look pregnant.
I've also done IVF (smbc) - I saw you had done it a few posts up x

OrionNebula · 03/07/2023 22:30

I feel like I am carrying quite low compared to my last pregnancy and most of the kicks I feel are quite low too. Getting lots of kicks right in the bladder 😂

doeandfawn · 03/07/2023 22:42

I’m the opposite; baby seems really high up for 23 weeks and I’m feeling kicks what seems to be a couple inches above belly button. Conversely having a lot of strong drawn out aches in groin that make it hard to walk sometimes.

DH and I did see belly move today which I feel is way too early?!

Saturnsmoon · 04/07/2023 05:29

@peonygirl I think I’m carrying quite low too. Movement I feel has been all under my bellybutton. My bump is pretty big although I’ve been told that my weight gain is on track and baby is measuring medium size so I guess it’s nothing to worry about. I am also quite short and apparently that can impact bump size. Just makes me feel like the combination of size and shape make people think I’m further along than I am anyway if nobody has seemed worried I’m sure you are tracking fine, hopefully your consultant can reassure you too.

Saturnsmoon · 04/07/2023 05:29

Also worth saying I’m 26+3 so a bit further along!

Sagittarius25 · 04/07/2023 08:01

Also 23 weeks and always feeling kicks low or to the sides near my hips! Sometimes can feel him kicking down internally into my bladder or cervix which is fun 🥴

We have been able to see him kick from the outside for a week or so now, but I do have a posterior placenta

Smiffette · 04/07/2023 08:20

I'm 25 weeks today and only feeling movements this last week but they are all low down. My jump is a different shape to last time, it feels hard high up but low it's softer and smaller.

peonygirl · 04/07/2023 10:07

Thank you ladies! I know we are all different but it feels reassuring knowing some of you are feeling your babies exactly where I feel mine. I do feel him every day and he is becoming more active (e.g. I can feel him better) so that keeps me calm.@Sagittarius25 what you're describing is exactly how I feel him, pressing into the hip bones - I feel he might be breech then as those legs kick right into the bone.

@Onethingiwantfor23 yes IVF is also not helping in this situation - I knew I was pregnant at day 5 🙂so now it feels like I am pregnant forever and should be the size of a whale when I am actually not even close to the 3rd trimester. Not that I want to be a whale hahah - never happy, right?

LWestYorks · 04/07/2023 11:07

Hi ladies! Has anyone’s vision changed at all in this pregnancy? My eyesight is so bad or has got bad the last few weeks. I’ve read that it is pretty common but didn’t get it with my last baby. I’m 26+1 x

Hmm I thought this was a 'me' thing rather than a pregnancy thing but maybe I was wrong!

I'm 25+1 and over the last few days have had a few spells of not being be able to focus my eyes even if I try quite hard - as if they're going sort of cross eyed.

Is that what yours is like?

peonygirl · 04/07/2023 11:18

@LWestYorks yes, it is quite common in pregnancy and I usually wear contacts. I have been advised that the eyes will get very dry and should swap for glasses which is what I am wearing most of the time now. I have noticed that I have issues with a focus sometimes and will have a check up soon. I don't think they will tailor my prescription, they'll rather wait till post-partum and then adjust it if needed.
