Hi guys. Another new thread here.
Baby #2 for us. Currently 17wk5. Baby due 24th Oct.
20 week scan on 9th June - planning to not finder out sex. We didn't with our 1st and loved the excitement of not knowing. We literally bought a pack of 6 white babygrows to take to the hospital and then when our DS was born we got loads of boys clothes from family & friends as gifts.
This worked well for us as I felt he did wear everything more than once.
My sis who found out she was having a little girl bought loads of clothes herself and then all the gifts from family too. She felt as though alot of it was wasted either only worn once if at all. Some stuff still had tags on when she took it to the charity shop xx

@Chanteuse thank you so much for sharing!

@LaVitesse2022 ooooow you’ve kind of sold me on the joolz aer now. We have an appointment with John Lewis to go and look at prams in 10 days so will make our final decision then but the aer is definitely a strong contender. Do you know if you can put it in the overhead lockers on planes? I’m sure you can with the yo-yo but don’t know about the others and we will likely be travelling a lot as we live abroad from family so that’s something I’m keen on.

we’re also looking at a bedside crib to start off with but I haven’t heard of the one you’ve mentioned, will look it up.

Regarding the baby bath, one of the first things that was recommended to me after I started telling people I was pregnant is the seat that @Koalawhala has mentioned. At the time I found that quite a weird recommendation but people really seem to much prefer them than baby baths so think we will be getting one of those.

NSx · 30/06/2023 06:34

@Saturnsmoon I worked for an airline for 9 years, the Yo-yo is what I saw people bring on the plane ✈️

GemmaJen · 30/06/2023 06:52

Just made our first big purchase - We've bought our car seat, saw a good deal and went for it, it turns out our last car seat is coming up for 6 years old in November, so it's safer to replace. We've gone for the same brand as before as we loved that car seat, the new one is the cybex z2. Lies flat in the car and out, last time we used it with the pushchair for the first 5 months instead of getting a bassinet, works well for us as we live out of town and have to drive everywhere. We'd arrive places with a sleeping baby and wouldn't have to transfer her to the pram seat/bassinet, which was a god send.

We have the schnuggle bath, which we'll be using again. It was good in that you didn't have to lean over to use it, useful after a section. But thinking of getting the angelcare seat further down the line so we can combine bath times.

doeandfawn · 30/06/2023 07:38

@GemmaJen where did you see a deal for it? We decided on it pretty early but refuse to pay full price.

kingfisher168 · 30/06/2023 07:49

I have read so many good reviews about the Angelcare bath support and then a lot of friends with babies said the Schnuggle (as @GemmaJen mentioned) bath is the best as you can have it standalone and on the floor. No need to fill a bathtub like with the seat support. But agree would buy the angelcare perhaps in toddler years as a bathtub insert.

I got myself the Nuna Mixx pramm, which I found beautiful (in birch) and a good trade off between an all-terrain pram and one I can get into my car (also living rurally so I expect for any off-road walks I'd just use a carrier/sling). I'm half expecting to trade it in after a year for a lighter stroller as it seems lots of people seem to do. Very much recommend to look at Marketplace or Vinted for prams as some people are selling them in great condition and you can then resell for a similar value unlike new which loses value almost immediately.

I feel like it's a bit early for all these purchases but when things are on offer/ you find them cheap, you can't help yourself 😄

Saturnsmoon · 30/06/2023 07:57

@NSx thank you! They are by far the post popular pram here - probably in part for this reason I guess.

Saturnsmoon · 30/06/2023 07:57

*most

VanillaOat · 30/06/2023 08:08

Thanks for all of your pram suggestions ladies! Think we have settled on the Ocarro like @katherine123x. Gonna purchase this weekend!

NSx · 30/06/2023 08:13

@Saturnsmoon yes I think so - they seem quite practical and easy to use.
I will use my pram base and car seat I think 🤎

LaVitesse2022 · 30/06/2023 08:33

@Saturnsmoon yes, the Aer can fit in the overhead compartments in planes. It's very similar in weight and size to the yoyo, but more sturdy and in my opinion looks more stylish too.

I think I'm more inclined to the schnuggle for the reasons @kingfisher168 mentioned. My local Fara Kids usually has second hand ones at £6 so I might grab one soon! We might get the angel are for toddler years.

katherine123x · 30/06/2023 08:34

@VanillaOat ooooh yay pram twins!! What colour are you going for? We opted for walnut ... and we are having a boy. It was in a great deal recently for the travel system!!

VanillaOat · 30/06/2023 08:44

@katherine123x I think we will probably go as dark as possible with navy or black, so that it doesn’t show up mess as easy 😂😂 we are having a girl but they all look quite neutral to be fair - it’s hard to see properly online! Did you get a car seat included in the bundle? If so, which one??

Koalawhala · 30/06/2023 08:44

The z2 looks great @GemmaJen, we’ve loved cybex’s for our older kids but never had the baby one. Love that it lies flat. It’s probably not compatable with our old Bugaboo pram though but it might be nice to upgrade that!

ttcttc · 30/06/2023 09:08

I went for the venicci Tinum up line in the end. Couldn't decided between that and the Ocarro and the venicci was my favourite. My mam bought us it so give her the casting vote 😂 luckily she liked it best too but it was dearer. My brother has also kept us an out and about for when baby is bigger.

Mldn · 30/06/2023 09:21

I have just bought the Joolz Aer+ Pushchair & Cloud Z2 Travel System in Mighty Green. They don’t sell Joolz in John Lewis but they do sell it in Mamas & Papas so I viewed it there & then I bought it online via a company called Natural Baby Shower. The bundle is £860. But you get 10% off if it’s your first purchase. However, the code doesn’t work on the bundle but if you email them they will apply it manually for you! So it was just over £775 - including the carrycot & a car seat (I didn’t get the isofix base as I don’t have a car so just gonna use seatbelt to fix it when we are in a car)
I live in London so wanted something I can get around with and found Joolz way nicer than Yo-Yo & the carrycot you can slee them in overnight which is handy if on the move, whereas the yo-yo you can’t. The plus model also lets you fold down the buggy including the carrycot by the click of a button.

Mldn · 30/06/2023 09:23

Sorry - @Saturnsmoon i meant it tag you in my above post if it helps with buying the Joolz.

katherine123x · 30/06/2023 09:38

@VanillaOat this is what I got!

They had a deal on which apparently comes round a lot just depends on the colour. They also had vouchers over a certain spend. So will get £100 voucher when take delivery!!

@katherine123x @VanillaOat not sure on your location but the mamas and papas outlet in Huddersfield had that bundle for £999.

BeaKind · 30/06/2023 10:13

@VanillaOat we are big walkers too so for our first went for an all terrain. Then once baby was here we realised the types of walkers we went on would never be suitable for the most all terrain pram and we ended up carrying him. Now, after 2 years of never using our pram we realise we only ever use on paving and so have bought the Babyzen yo-yo. Really good condition second hand too to save a bit of money 💰 we’ll get the newborn bassinet for it too soon for new bubba and and a buggy board on to the back for our toddler.

I think that all terrain ones are good in principle but not really sure how practical they truly are.

BeaKind · 30/06/2023 10:15

By carrying I mean babywearing btw! 😅

kingfisher168 · 30/06/2023 10:31

Glad you said that @BeaKind , that's exactly what I'm planning to do/was my thinking. So even though going for all terrain, didn't want to spend too much in case it only gets used sporadically on pavement etc. It just varies so much on people's lifestyles, where they live etc, such a mindfield!

LaVitesse2022 · 30/06/2023 12:18

@Mldn the Aer's carrycot was also a big plus for me over the yoyo. You can purchase one for the yoyo but it looks misshapen when attached and too low. Thanks for the tip on the Natural Baby Shower discount! I'll probably also purchase a car seat for when we use a car but still want to check the ones that fit the Aer. My main criteria would be how light it is and easy to attach to the car. I'm assuming they all offer a high standard of safety.

Mldn · 30/06/2023 12:25

@LaVitesse2022 i agree with the carrycot on the yo-yo - that’s what put me off. The car seat that comes in the bundle I mentioned, I viewed in John Lewis. It’s nice & light & has the adapters that allow you to attach it to the Aer + chassis. You can put CJase the isofix base as part of the bundle it I opted against it as we will never be int he same car etc so will just use seat belt safety with the car seat! I think the car seat stand alone would’ve been around £220/250 so £775 for the bundle is pretty good I think! We will only really use the car seat when visiting family & in one of their cars etc or if we eventually leave London x
