Hi guys. Another new thread here.
Baby #2 for us. Currently 17wk5. Baby due 24th Oct.
20 week scan on 9th June - planning to not finder out sex. We didn't with our 1st and loved the excitement of not knowing. We literally bought a pack of 6 white babygrows to take to the hospital and then when our DS was born we got loads of boys clothes from family & friends as gifts.
This worked well for us as I felt he did wear everything more than once.
My sis who found out she was having a little girl bought loads of clothes herself and then all the gifts from family too. She felt as though alot of it was wasted either only worn once if at all. Some stuff still had tags on when she took it to the charity shop xx

@peonygirl I literally try to avoid sneezing at all costs 😂 and when I do it’s touch and go. It’s embarrassing 😅

@ES1986 can you share the band you got please? 🙂🙏🏼🙏🏼💗

It’s the BABYGO 4 in 1 Pregnancy Support Belt - £25.

It’s in three pieces, and I’m just using the piece that goes under the bump at the moment. I can see in about a month’s time I’ll be using the back brace bit with it too.

katherine123x · 26/06/2023 08:38

@ES1986 thank you!

So I finally felt big obvious kicks this evening, so much so husband felt it too! Special that we both did at the same time.

I'm 24 weeks tomorrow and it's been playing on my mind that we had not felt clear movement yet.

Such a nice relief

Lovely 😊 ❤️

I felt like I waited forever for baby to move and now I'm like "get to sleep" "sit still!" ... for example at 3:30 this morning 😂

OrionNebula · 27/06/2023 13:39

Had my first consultant appointment this morning and all went well. Baby is breach at the moment but they're not worried yet as loads of time for her to turn.

Starting to feel hiccups for the first time this week too Smile so cute!

monsteramunch · 27/06/2023 13:50

Aah that's lovely @OrionNebula!

I'm trying to savour every minute as this will likely be my only pregnancy. It's going so quickly - 24 weeks now.

Cannot believe how much my feet are swollen all the time. Other than that I've only put on bump and boobs so far so managed to get away with not buying too many new clothes until now. Admitting defeat and grabbing some maternity bits now!

Absolutely knackered all the time. I work full time and will do right up until my section, but I don't know how those of you who have work and toddlers already are doing it. Wonder women!

LaVitesse2022 · 27/06/2023 17:34

I had my GP 25-week appointment and discovered I've got an UTI (no symptoms) so doctor prescribed some antibiotics to treat it. Has anyone had one during pregnancy? I know antibiotics are safe for baby, but wondering if anyone experienced side effects.

Got to hear baby's heartbeat for the first time today - it was wonderful! 😍

cruciverbalista · 27/06/2023 18:29

@LaVitesse2022 I had one a few weeks ago and was given a week of nitrofurantoin. It went fine, but the pills made me nauseous so I had to have lots of small meals (I'm nauseous most of the time anyway though these days haha-- I'm one of the lucky ones who's still puking).

monsteramunch · 27/06/2023 18:34

@LaVitesse2022

Lovely you heard the heartbeat, it's magical isn't it!

I thought I had a UTI a week or so ago and was encouraged on here to ask my midwife's advice - turned out that yes I had one.

A course of antibiotics worked super quickly and I didn't personally have any side effects.

Midwife said to always let them know as soon as you think you might have a UTI as they are easy to treat but do need treating as soon as possible.

monsteramunch · 27/06/2023 18:35

@cruciverbalista

Oh mate, you're still being sick? You poor thing. Are you on any meds? You must be exhausted by it, it's so unlucky Flowers

LaVitesse2022 · 27/06/2023 18:35

@cruciverbalista oh no, it's awful that you're still going through that! Are you taking any meds to help? That's exactly the antibiotic I was prescribed, let's see how it goes

cruciverbalista · 27/06/2023 18:41

@LaVitesse2022 @monsteramunch Oh thanks girls, if I'm honest I'm prone to it outside of pregnancy anyway! I'm on prochloperazine and lots of Gaviscon as it's mostly the reflux setting it off now, but it's down to only once or twice a week as opposed to a few times a day like last trimester, so not throwing a pity party by any means!

LaVitesse2022 · 27/06/2023 18:41

@monsteramunch yes, I did get emotional. Forgot to record it though, DP wasn't there! ☹️ Yes, GP did say it slightly raises the risk of premature labour so better treat it ASAP.

Midnight00 · 27/06/2023 21:06

Sorry to hear about all these UTIs. I'm worried I might have an infection of some type. Very itchy down there, maybe cos of heat. Pharmacist says speak to midwife so think I'll wait till my midwife appt on Monday.... it's just one thing after another isn't it?!

Also has anyone's partner been with them to midwife appointments? He's like to hear to heartbeat but just not sure did it's ok to bring him along...?

Sagittarius25 · 27/06/2023 21:08

@Midnight00 my husband came to 16 week appointment with me and we heard heartbeat. Midwife wasn't phased he was there and addressed us both throughout the appointment when talking about different stuff so actually made him feel involved which was nice 😊

NSx · 27/06/2023 22:07

@Midnight00 my partner came with me on Friday to my 22w appt, he heard the heartbeat and she was quite happy to ask him questions and chat away to him. I saw plenty of men at the antenatal clinics with their partners - don’t worry 🤍

I would give them a buzz tomorrow rather than waiting til Monday I think, they would always rather you called if something is up that leave it. Especially if it's potentially infection related. Monday is quite a long way away if it doesn't improve Flowers

monsteramunch · 27/06/2023 22:20

Oh and definitely bring your partner with you if you want to @Midnight00 they never seem to have an issue with it and I think they're pleased to see Dads getting involve as and when they can in these stages 😊

LaVitesse2022 · 27/06/2023 22:21

@Midnight00 my partner also came to 16 week appt because we thought we were going to hear heartbeat. Then today at the 25w I said he didn't have to, but it was when I heard it for the first time and he was sorry he wasn't there 😅 It's absolutely normal to have him with you, if he'd like to come I'm sure he'll be welcome 🙂

Midnight00 · 28/06/2023 06:59

Thanks ladies, so helpful! He's been feeling a few kicks recently so he's excited to hear how he's doing with heartbeat and measurements.

ttcttc · 28/06/2023 08:59

I took my partner. I didn't to the initial one because they apparently like to ask you all about home life etc but I did at 16 week and just sort of said "the last midwife said I should bring him to this one for the heartbeat so that ok" and she just said of course it was fine. They will see it all the time I don't think it phases them.

Esl17 · 28/06/2023 11:03

I took my partner to 16 week appt and then he had to work for my 24 week appt so I took my mum instead which she loved as she got to hear the heartbeat too and said it made her feel involved. Midwife didn’t mind that either!

Esl17 · 28/06/2023 11:03

Midwife also let me record a little video of baby’s heartbeat for my partner as he was working - I obviously did ask and she said yes.

Smiffette · 28/06/2023 11:28

Has anyone been told that if they have a UTI / infection and antibiotics that they have to be in a drip during Labour and have to stay in 24 hours to make sure baby hasn't got an infection?
