Hi guys. Another new thread here.
Baby #2 for us. Currently 17wk5. Baby due 24th Oct.
20 week scan on 9th June - planning to not finder out sex. We didn't with our 1st and loved the excitement of not knowing. We literally bought a pack of 6 white babygrows to take to the hospital and then when our DS was born we got loads of boys clothes from family & friends as gifts.
This worked well for us as I felt he did wear everything more than once.
My sis who found out she was having a little girl bought loads of clothes herself and then all the gifts from family too. She felt as though alot of it was wasted either only worn once if at all. Some stuff still had tags on when she took it to the charity shop xx

Does anyone know if private scans will give us the measurements? I’m glad my 20w was normal but achondroplasia and hydrocephalus are not uncommon in my family so I wanted to be able to track growth and annoyed that I can’t as they won’t give me the figures.

Alexandra07 · 24/06/2023 14:40

@doeandfawn you can have privately an anomaly scan, I guess they can give you the measurements, but worth asking before booking.

PrimarilyParented · 24/06/2023 20:26

I don’t even have acknowledgement of the scan having happened on my badger notes and this is 3 weeks on from the scan. During the scan they didn’t give me any measurements, I asked for a print out but just got something saying all seen/normal. However, during the scan they asked if my last baby was big and I said yes (he was on the 96th centile when born) and they said ‘looks like you’re on track for the same’ - they were measuring his head at the time 😬. But my partner is 6’3” and my sister and her partner (neither are particularly tall) just had a baby over 9lb and my youngest brother was almost 10lb, so I’m not exactly surprised, we just grow big babies in my family.

@Koalawhala As far as I know I'm definitely having a C-section just waiting for a date I think. I had one with my first due to medical trauma and it was agreed it was probably the safest route for both of us.

I find the Badger Notes app to be annoying at times. I find it takes quite a while for things to be added or information is missed off. When I first went for my 20w scan nothing was added though the Sonographer told me she'd managed to get measurements but didn't share anything about that appointment specifically. When I went for another scan at 23w all that was said was everything seemed fine but due to baby's position and scar tissue they couldn't be a 100% which I found strange as nothing was said at the appointment. In fact the Sonographer was happy with everything. It's mind boggling.

How are those of you with toddlers coping? The heat is driving me mad, I'm ridiculously tired and still nauseous and my three year old is kicking off over the smallest things. She's been off nursery since the Easter holiday - OFSTED suspended them from opening for six weeks but another six was added in May and review date is 5th of July. DH and I have spent that time ringing round our local nurseries but all are full until September and childminders are too. Everyday feels like a constant battle.

I think her behaviour has gotten worse since we shared the news of my pregnancy which I expected of course. I'm just not sure how to help her and I feel like I'm failing her.

Sorry for the rant and I hope you are all doing well 💕

ForeverAndEvers · 25/06/2023 05:32

@Phoenixwings1989 sorry you're struggling. Sounds like a nightmare with nursery closed. I don't know what to suggest but hope you find a place soon. I have a nearly 3 year old and the tiredness is so real. He's waking at 4.30am, and with work too, I'm just so tired and emotional! He currently says he doesn't want a brother or sister so feel like we've got our work cut out. Not sure if it's helping at all but we've been reading books about having a new sibling. He's had a lot going on recently with a minor operation so just trying to take it slowly but solidarity, it's tough. Hope you find a nursery spot soon.

OrionNebula · 25/06/2023 08:50

@Phoenixwings1989 that sounds tough. I have a 3 year old and am just struggling with tiredness compared to the last time I was pregnant. It's tough still having to be a mammy and work full time when all I want to do is have a nap! She's starting to show more of an interest in the bump now though which is nice. She couldn't care less at first, now she is hugging the bump and blowing raspberries on it to "wake up the baby" Grin

ttcttc · 25/06/2023 09:45

Re 20 week scan, they didn't tell me anything of what the measurements mean.. they just appeared in the app.

What was everyone else's measurements? I don't know if I'm measuring average etc

ttcttc · 25/06/2023 09:46

Probably should note I was 22 week then.

doeandfawn · 25/06/2023 10:06

@ttcttc there are growth charts you can find online like this one, just have to search for each measurement individually:

I don’t know how you’re doing it with babies already - I’m knackered and don’t have any tiny humans to look after!! 😮‍💨

Alexandra07 · 25/06/2023 11:29

@Phoenixwings1989 oh no, this sounds hard. My daughter is a bit older, 5, and books help. We read books about being jealous or sad and how to cope. She is already jealous (and very excited at the same time) and she recognises it. If she watches a cartoon with a family of 4 we remind her that soon we will be 4 as well! And we discuss what a great big sister she will be!

WhatTodoALL · 25/06/2023 13:16

How is everyone doing in this heat? I live mainly in our living room with air conditioning on all the time!

I have a question about discharge. Now, I have a pregnancy discharge, leaking urine (sometimes) and sweat! It's looks a lot! I start to question if it's an amniotic fluid leaking. I kind of understand that it's most probably not but sometimes I get worried

OrionNebula · 25/06/2023 13:58

@WhatTodoALL I had a scare a few weeks ago thinking I had amniotic fluid leak but it turned out to be urine. It was happening when I sneezed and I got one big gush, I was freaked out as it was clear and didn't smell like urine so I rang the midwife. I ended up going into to get checked and everything was fine - just pee 😂 I'd say if your leaks happen when you sneeze/cough or another time when pressure is put on your pelvic floor, and if baby is moving as normal, chances are things are fine. But if you are worried call your midwife to be on the safe side.

WhatTodoALL · 25/06/2023 14:52

Thank you! I don't think it's amniotic fluid. I remember having same with my two other pregnancies. And having same worries 😄. But you never know! I am 26 weeks today and it's still early days. Can't wait to get to 28 and then it's easier to calm down

peonygirl · 25/06/2023 16:36

@WhatTodoALL I am leaking every time I sneeze/cough to the effect I am using pads daily. Even if I squeeze and use pelvic muscles, it's kinda too late 🙄As my belly is growing and baby is moving daily I am not worried. I don't know, maybe I should be but I honestly feel it's urine.

ES1986 · 25/06/2023 17:30

22 weeks today, can feel baby fidgeting around 😍

Not a fan of this heat and pollen though. I normally love summer, but pregnancy puts a whole new spin on it doesn’t it!

I bought a belly support band though for when I go out for a walk - worth every penny! I was getting ligament paid before after walking, but the band provides just that bit of support needed.

Fab thanks. I fall into 25 percentile. I'll have a look if that's good or not 😬

Alexandra07 · 25/06/2023 19:45

One of my ankles is very swollen and even with keeping feet up and ice, I still can't see any difference. When do we have to worry about swollen ankles??

@ttcttc babies come in all sizes and some will be bigger than others. Not all babies can be at the 50% percentile, or the whole growth chart thing doesn't make sense! Especially if parents are below average height, it should be normal.

@WhatTodoALL I have more than usual discharge that I don't even realise I have. I need to always wear a pad now. And definitely more coming out when I sneeze! Definitely check it if you are worried!

NSx · 25/06/2023 19:52

@peonygirl every time I sneeze hard I pee 😂😅 it’s actually so annoying 😩😩😩😩

My little girl is 2.5 and her behaviour has been really difficult over the past 6
or so weeks, I think it’s partly developmental but also very closely linked to the baby. It’s really hard, it must be awful for you without nursery too! I hope you get sorted

peonygirl · 25/06/2023 20:02

@Alexandra07 I don't want to alarm you but maybe give your midwife a call? Only one ankle swollen can be a sign of a blood clot. I would otherwise dismiss everything on the heath but just one swelling sounds unusual. I am not a medical professional but I would call 111 or midwife if the swelling doesn't subside and especially if it is painful.

Otherwise, any sudden increase in swelling should be checked out and swelling can happen at any time from week 20 onwards. I tried some reflexology but it was more like a foot massage - I am still searching for someone who would do a proper reflexology on my feet as they hurt daily (no swelling just painful).

NSx · 25/06/2023 19:52

@peonygirl every time I sneeze hard I pee 😂😅 it’s actually so annoying 😩😩😩😩

Yeah speak about annoying :) I started wearing pads because otherwise I needed to change clothes and panties all the time. I defo don't feel sexy with all these issues 😁

Alexandra07 · 25/06/2023 20:39

@peonygirl it crossed my mind but NHS talks mainly about swollen calf not ankle. In addition I sat on the sofa in the morning with one foot up and one on the floor and I think that created the issue. All the fluids just moved down! I'll contact the GP in the morning just in case. I hope by then I am better.

peonygirl · 25/06/2023 20:41

@Alexandra07 ah I see, yes it could be that the flow went into one leg only. With this heath we all suffer, even when not pregnant :) Hope all will be well when you rest your leg.

katherine123x · 25/06/2023 21:19

@ES1986 can you share the band you got please? 🙂🙏🏼🙏🏼💗
