Hi guys. Another new thread here.
Baby #2 for us. Currently 17wk5. Baby due 24th Oct.
20 week scan on 9th June - planning to not finder out sex. We didn't with our 1st and loved the excitement of not knowing. We literally bought a pack of 6 white babygrows to take to the hospital and then when our DS was born we got loads of boys clothes from family & friends as gifts.
This worked well for us as I felt he did wear everything more than once.
My sis who found out she was having a little girl bought loads of clothes herself and then all the gifts from family too. She felt as though alot of it was wasted either only worn once if at all. Some stuff still had tags on when she took it to the charity shop xx

@thecatsthecats that's right after 28w we should monitor the baby's movements to be around 6-10 every 2hrs if not then try eating something or having a cold drink or juice then lay down on your left side and pay attention to the movements.
I think is still too early for baby to have a pattern, I saw my midwife yesterday and she asked me if I feel movements and she wasn't particularly worried about patterns yet.

Personally I have noticed that days when I am tired or not feeling myself the baby is quiet as well...

Sagittarius25 · 21/06/2023 11:37

21 weeks here and have been feeling stronger kicks for two weeks now. I defo still have quieter days though so it's defo still normal at this point!

I also find if I'm wearing something with a firmer waistband across my belly (like my under bump maternity jeans) I feel loads more compared to if I'm wearing a floaty dress for example.

Chanteuse · 21/06/2023 12:57

I went in yesterday as I was concerned I hadn’t felt the baby but he is okay. The midwife said to me that we should always speak to them if we have concerns, but my trust takes movement most serious from 26 weeks. It’s really difficult because they’re big enough for us to feel now but also still small enough to hide!

LaVitesse2022 · 21/06/2023 13:03

Both the NHS and Tommy's say there's no set number of movements that are considered normal. Each baby is different and what should be concerning is a change in their pattern, which we should start to recognise the more they grow and move about. I suspect it also depends on location of your placenta, your body composition, etc. So it can be counterproductive to be measuring against a fixed average number that might not correspond to your baby at all and increase anxiety.

Yes, my midwife recommended against kick counting. She said to just be mindful of baby's personal daily pattern. I'm 24+3 now and feeling him quite a bit daily, but up until about 23 weeks that wasn't the case. Remember they can flip around and kick your placenta and you won't notice as much. X

OMG 23 weeks here. Still exhausted... anyone already finding everything about five times harder than normal? By about 6pm I am DONE 😂😂😂

LWestYorks · 22/06/2023 18:29

Hey ladies! Has anyone had any growth scans or any sort of scan recently and want to share their measurements? I’m scared my boy’s are big but the hospital didn’t seem to concerned.

At 23+4 his HC was 22cm and AC was 21cm (the measurements were taken last Friday)

TIA x

Smiffette · 22/06/2023 21:17

@LWestYorks my last scan was at 21 weeks my app still hasn't uploaded with the details yet. I'm 23+2 now.

I seem to recall the sonographer printed them as well by mistake. I'll check my bag I would have put them in there.

Would be good to know where he is measuring!

I heard his heartbeat today 💙 final consultant appointment and they are discharging me from consultant care 😃

LaVitesse2022 · 22/06/2023 21:35

@LWestYorks in my 20w scan report there was a % next to each measurement that showed how each thing fared compared to the average. So overall mine was 40% so just slightly below average, but then all the other things like head, legs etc varied a lot on where they fell compared to the rest of babies. Don't you have something similar in your report?

monsteramunch · 22/06/2023 21:41

That's lovely news @Smiffette! Flowers

Smiffette · 22/06/2023 22:13

@LaVitesse2022 did you get a paper report or BadgerNotes?

I don't have any measurements. The report I thought I had was just confirming all organs seen

LWestYorks · 22/06/2023 22:18

@LaVitesse2022

this was from last week at 23+4

Wow! We only get digital Badger reports and no paper in my trust, all mine has from anomaly scan is fundal placenta and the cerebellum, abdomen and head measurement. No percentiles and no other info so had to google and looks like basically bang on 50th which is lovely but would’ve been nice to know a little more detail.

LaVitesse2022 · 23/06/2023 08:15

@Smiffette I got a paper report similar to LWestYorks's and it usually is also uploaded later on to my Patient Knows Best account.

@LWestYorks measurements for my baby were also all over the place with the percentiles. I think I had 4% for the head, but then very high on others. Some babies have to be in the higher or lower %, that's how it works 😄 Everything says normal in the report, sonographer said she was pleased with everything, so I'm not worried.

Koalawhala · 23/06/2023 15:43

I got that print out too. Anything on the scale is normal but does make it look all over the place. Small head and long legs so far for our baby!

I had a letter from my consultant today, they’d had a meeting and are recommending a c-section, which I thought would probably be the case but good to know. Anyone else definitely having a c section?

LWestYorks · 23/06/2023 16:11

@Koalawhala the print out I’ve posted above? if so do you mind me having a look at your measurements? X

Ss32 · 23/06/2023 16:23

I’m 26 weeks now and would say baby is definitely developing a pattern to her movements. The second my little girl closes her eyes, baby comes to life bouncing all over the place for a good few hours! You can see my belly bouncing all over the place!

GemmaJen · 23/06/2023 16:51

@Koalawhala I'm definitely having a section, just waiting on consultant to confirm when.

I ws suprised, just looked up my measurements from 20w scan and baby is measuring on 25th percentile. My daughter was 99th percentile at birth so it seems they have a lot of catching up to do (she's still 98th percentile for height and weight) . Is it too early to tell at 20w?

ForeverAndEvers · 23/06/2023 18:34

@Koalawhala I’m also definitely having a c-section.

On size, I don’t have measurements this time around to share but with my first I remember the 20 week scan showing a very big head and short legs! He’s very in proportion now but still in the upper percentiles for height and weight.

Koalawhala · 23/06/2023 18:39

This was mine from 20w scan. The scan was done a bit early at 19 weeks

Chanteuse · 23/06/2023 19:07

Ugh I hate the differences between trusts - I don’t know any of my baby’s measurements and they’re not online 😔

NSx · 23/06/2023 19:36

@ChanteuseI’m the same as you, nothing online for me either - I was told some being about 50th centile at the scan but couldn’t tell you what for 😄😂 but she said baby was bang on average at the time.

LaVitesse2022 · 23/06/2023 23:14

As long as sonographer/midwife says everything is fine/normal exact measurements shouldn't really matter. Not worth obsessing over, in my view x

Alexandra07 · 24/06/2023 08:02

@Koalawhala if they were concerned they would have told you. When is your next appointment to ask?

Koalawhala · 24/06/2023 12:39

@Alexandra07 oh I wasn’t worried about my measurements, it’s all on the scale of normal. We had a laugh about the smaller head size (my husband has a huge head 😂). I’m sure it can all change as time goes on anyway, and I’ll be having growth scans towards the end as my DD was born small
