Hi guys. Another new thread here.
Baby #2 for us. Currently 17wk5. Baby due 24th Oct.
20 week scan on 9th June - planning to not finder out sex. We didn't with our 1st and loved the excitement of not knowing. We literally bought a pack of 6 white babygrows to take to the hospital and then when our DS was born we got loads of boys clothes from family & friends as gifts.
This worked well for us as I felt he did wear everything more than once.
My sis who found out she was having a little girl bought loads of clothes herself and then all the gifts from family too. She felt as though alot of it was wasted either only worn once if at all. Some stuff still had tags on when she took it to the charity shop xx

A new strange symptom for me the last couple of days - when I've been hot my skin (so sweat I guess) smells different to normal. A bit sickly and sweet. Very strange!

23 weeks today and having a scan tomorrow just to keep an eye on her due to an underlying condition I have. Cant wait to see her again, I get so excited every time!

She's wriggling constantly so hopefully she pauses long enough for them to see what they need to see and maybe get a little scan picture for us too.

doeandfawn · 19/06/2023 15:03

@monsteramunch how exciting! Hope everything is well with little one and you have a fab time ❤️

peonygirl · 19/06/2023 15:43

@monsteramunch enjoy it and hope all will be fine. I find it so calming when I see him on the scan, knowing he is doing well. I also have an additional scan at 28w but that will be in early August, so a while to go.

doeandfawn · 19/06/2023 17:49

Had a somewhat nasty fall at work today and the relief from feeling them move about is unmatched.

monsteramunch · 19/06/2023 18:32

Thanks so much @doeandfawn and @peonygirl, will let you know how we get on tomorrow. So excited to see her again!

Oh god @doeandfawn I hope you're ok and I'm glad little one has made themselves known again since your fall, what a horrible feeling that must have been. Are you hurt at all?

doeandfawn · 19/06/2023 18:38

@monsteramunch hurt the opposite leg to the hip that normally makes me limp so I’ve got a very aggressive pregnant waddle now but otherwise absolutely fine thankfully! I was immediately ready to call the midwife unit so glad little one chose then to get really active.

monsteramunch · 19/06/2023 19:35

You poor thing @doeandfawn! I'm with you on the waddling front and I don't even have the excuse of an injury - suddenly realised the other day that my walk has changed! Guess it's partly a centre of gravity thing and partly a bloody hell my whole body is tired thing 😂

AnnaAnna92 · 20/06/2023 11:38

Currently 25weeks pregnant with our first baby.
He is a baby boy 💙🌈🦋🪁
And he is due 5/10/23 🤰💙🦋🌈

doeandfawn · 20/06/2023 12:44

Hi @AnnaAnna92 welcome to the chat! Congrats on your boy.

monsteramunch · 20/06/2023 12:49

Welcome @AnnaAnna92! And congrats 💫

monsteramunch · 20/06/2023 12:51

Had an extra scan today due to my underlying condition and happy to report everything is perfect! We have a very cheeky one on our hands though, she's such a wriggler.

Turns out I have a posterior placenta which is why I can feel every little thing she does. I'm not complaining though as it's very reassuring being able to feel her so it's lucky in that sense. It's nice and high up too so they aren't worried about that aspect. So lovely to see her little face again 💕

doeandfawn · 20/06/2023 13:02

@monsteramunch how exciting, she’s been very active on a lot of the scans right?

monsteramunch · 20/06/2023 13:10

doeandfawn · 20/06/2023 13:02

@monsteramunch how exciting, she’s been very active on a lot of the scans right?

Yep a non stop mover on all of them! She did a big yawn during today's and I'm not surprised, she must be bloody exhausted 😂

I wonder if it's going to mean she's a very hyper little one once she arrives in October!

OrionNebula · 20/06/2023 13:37

So glad all ok @monsteramunch ! I won't have another scan now I don't think unless I pay for one myself or there is a concern.

cruciverbalista · 20/06/2023 13:55

Good stuff @monsteramunch . I get to have 3 growth scans due to my fibroids, I'm viewing it as a bit of a bonus to see bab again! First one is in three weeks 😊

Summer022 · 20/06/2023 16:55

At 22 weeks is it possible that baby is still small enough to fit in spaces where I won’t feel him as much. For two weeks he has been wriggling around like crazy and the last 3 days he’s been much more quiet. Can still feel him, just the movements maybe don’t seem as strong. I called in and the midwife wasn’t the slightest bit concerned, I just wonder if he’s still got some hiding places in there! 😆

Chanteuse · 20/06/2023 16:55

I’m due to have growth scans too but none booked in yet, apparently they will be 30, 34 and 38 weeks. Going to check at my midwife appt next week so I can also get a little 3D scan booked in too! 🥰

firstlittlefrazzleontheway · 20/06/2023 16:57

@Summer022 I think they must still be small enough. I was feeling really strong movements that could be seen on the outside of my tummy but for the last couple of days they feel lighter and lower down- he seems to have found my bladder!

doeandfawn · 20/06/2023 16:59

@Summer022 with all the heat we’ve been having apparently a lot of people have experienced reduced movements because dehydration affects amniotic fluid levels. The recommendation I got on here was to chug more water and noticed a real change when I did. Baby could also be facing a different way! If midwife isn’t too worried that’s a good sign, I would just track it for a few more days and if noticeably less movement even with extra extra extra hydration call then again.

AnnaAnna92 · 20/06/2023 16:59

@doeandfawn @monsteramunch thank you so much ladies 💕💕💕🙏🙏🙏 congratulations to you both
So excited I can't wait to meet him 🥹

AnnaAnna92 · 20/06/2023 17:03

@Summer022 yeah exactly the baby is still so small that can move and turn sooo much and can stay in a position that you don't feel them for hours or even an entire day
I have started feeling a bit more regular movements this week which is my 25th week , regular and strong hahaha 🤣
Try drinking cold water or eating something sweet to wake them up 🙈
Iam so excited every time he moves honestly is such a unique feeling 🥹💕🥹🙏

peonygirl · 20/06/2023 20:10

I swear to god my boy moves when I eat. All day long when I work or walk around - not much movement, the minute I get to eat something he gets all hyped up 😃

@monsteramunch so glad your scan went well and you got to see your wriggly girl again. I believe their personality comes through already at this early stage so quite possibly you have an energetic baby to look forward to.

doeandfawn · 20/06/2023 21:20

@peonygirl mine is the opposite! Boots me at work and when I’m relaxing, stays perfectly still when food or activity are happening.

Summer022 · 21/06/2023 09:20

Thanks ladies for the info re movements! Little man was kicking away this morning, though still only feels like a small fish flopping around 😂 I have booked our 4D scan! We weren’t going to do one, but we can’t resist so got that to look forward to at the end of July. 🥰

thecatsthecats · 21/06/2023 11:22

I think I found a source last night about defining reduced movements, and it was saying that before 28 weeks, yes, get it checked out, but don't automatically worry. After 28w it should be 10 movements in 2h.

Annoyingly I can't find it now. The definitions are hard to handle though! My boy is SO active some days, that just a few wriggles feels reduced, when actually I feel like it probably just means more normal movement?
