Hi guys. Another new thread here.
Baby #2 for us. Currently 17wk5. Baby due 24th Oct.
20 week scan on 9th June - planning to not finder out sex. We didn't with our 1st and loved the excitement of not knowing. We literally bought a pack of 6 white babygrows to take to the hospital and then when our DS was born we got loads of boys clothes from family & friends as gifts.
This worked well for us as I felt he did wear everything more than once.
My sis who found out she was having a little girl bought loads of clothes herself and then all the gifts from family too. She felt as though alot of it was wasted either only worn once if at all. Some stuff still had tags on when she took it to the charity shop xx

Ugh. The nausea is worse now than it was in my first trimester. I do get a good day now and then but usually I'm nauseous all the time. I don't have an appetite either at all and just eating for need rather than wanting to. Though when I do eat it's not much because the nausea is worse when I do than when I don't. It also happens with fluid intake too.

I spoke to the midwife about this at my twenty week check up and she said there was nothing she could prescribe as I wasn't throwing up and I could keep things down no problem. She even made a joke about it saying it was just one of those things I'd have to put up with. It's not being uncomfortable she said but at least it's better than throwing up.

I'm also a bit clogged up with constipation (sorry TMI). I am going but never feel like I am empty (again sorry TMI). I suspect it is down to my lack of appetite and nausea.

I'm nearly twenty three weeks and still waiting for my symptoms to improve. It's tough.

She sounds horrid @Phoenixwings1989 and should be joking about things that are reducing your quality of life at the moment 😞 I really hope you start to feel better soon. I found those sachets (laxido etc) really helped with my constipation, have you tried them?

cruciverbalista · 16/06/2023 14:20

@thecatsthecats @Phoenixwings1989 @doeandfawn are you all still using the antinausea drugs? I have a few prochloperazine left and am still popping one every week or so. I'm finding lots of small meals also help. And drinking a lot of cold almond milk, which feels like it's calories and refreshing in the hot weather.

Btw, @doeandfawn I think it was you told me to size up my bras. My rash is gone now I've stopped using my old ones. I now have 1 ancient, loose sports bra and a couple of next-size-up bralettes from Asda in rotation. I hate having to buy new clothes all the time but can't really predict these rapid physical changes!

Took bab to his first concert last night-- we all had a great time and they had reserved us seats which was much needed :)

doeandfawn · 16/06/2023 15:13

@peonygirl thankfully my one consistent craving has been persimmons/Sharon fruit from literally week 8 of pregnancy hahahaha. Every time I see them I buy the shop out and it’s gone within 2 days. I’m just leaning hard into anything that actually sounds good because my other main cravings have been things like dairylea dunkers and cheese triangles and I have a casein allergy so couldn’t have them even outside of pregnancy!

@cruciverbalista I have a few but they make me so drowsy I only take them when I have to. I’m glad the bras are going better! I’m still free titty, the 40H I ordered came in and is too small so continuing to embrace the sag.

thecatsthecats · 16/06/2023 15:14

I have ignored my midwife and got more Cyclizine.

I'm back on three a day, because I was miserable without it. I'm still not keen on food, but like @Phoenixwings1989, I am very food averse. I am sick of my husband even mentioning what we'll have for dinner.

As people who are very into home cooking, this is crap and very depressing. My normal diet is packed with variety, lots of veg and nutrition. I feel like I have to make a massive effort just to get the basics in.

I find vegetables, cheese and fruit the easiest to eat at the moment.

ForeverAndEvers · 16/06/2023 17:34

Not posted in awhile, hope everything is doing well and sorry for those still struggling with lots of symptoms.

I had my 20 week scan yesterday (at 21+1). I was really anxious due to a previous bad experience but everything looking healthy which is great news.

doeandfawn · 16/06/2023 18:31

@ForeverAndEvers congrats!! Feels like we can start properly prepping now eh?

ForeverAndEvers · 17/06/2023 07:10

@doeandfawn yes definitely feel a bit more able to plan now, although tbh my next few weeks are so busy that think it'll all still be rather last minute! Have you done much prep yet?

doeandfawn · 17/06/2023 07:48

@ForeverAndEvers yeah we’re getting things quite steadily! Never thought I’d be so excited about nappies.

ForeverAndEvers · 17/06/2023 09:40

@doeandfawn I admire your strategy, definitely the best approach. I'm just finding work so full on at the moment that I don't have time for anything else. This is number 2 for us, but I remember with number 1 putting a tiny nappy on a Teddy and he's still proudly wearing his nappy!

Phoenixwings1989 · 17/06/2023 11:23

@peonygirl I was living off fruit in my first trimester but now I'm struggling to even manage that. I find I have to force myself still. There's very little I crave too.

@monsteramunch yes I was a bit taken aback by it myself. I have heard about laxido - DD takes it as she has issues too. The nausea is so bad though I can't stomach it even with it mixed in other liquids. I might pop to the chemist and ask the pharmacist if there's any alternatives to solubles but I think it may be a waste of effort. I just manage tablets better than solutions.

@cruciverbalista I've never been prescribed anti nausea meds. I was always in two minds about asking for them because I didn't know if I really needed them.

@thecatsthecats ugh I'm the same. Whenever food is mentioned there's always that feeling of dread isn't there? I usually tell him to decide and I'll worry about it later. We used to do a lot of home cooking too before the unpredictability of nausea came along so I know what you're going through.

PeopleAreToads · 17/06/2023 11:35

Just catching up on all your updates, great to see so many positive 20 week scan stories

I ended up in hospital on Thursday with reduced movements, as baby had definitely slowed down and not moving at her normal times of day.

Midwives were amazing, was seen straight away and everything was fine. But they reassured me going in was the right thing to do, as any changes in movement pattern need to be checked. So if anyone has any concerns, call the hospital, don't sit at home worrying about wasting their time like I did on Wednesday night 😊

cruciverbalista · 17/06/2023 11:57

It sounds like you could use the meds @Phoenixwings1989, it's important for bab that mama feel better too xx

@PeopleAreToads glad everything was OK and thank you for sharing!

VictoriaBlossom · 17/06/2023 12:14

@PeopleAreToads glad everything's okay! It's everyone's worst nightmare.
My girlie is definitely reminding me she's still there a lot. my boyfriend put his hand on my belly and asked, whatever is she doing? It's like she's punching your belly

Onethingiwantfor23 · 18/06/2023 12:48

Does anyone seem to be peeing less in this heat? I'm drinking more than ever and feel I need the loo but its literally just a dribble each time. It's quite dark at times too but really should be a straw like colour with the amount I'm drinking.
I'm 22 weeks tomorrow.

doeandfawn · 18/06/2023 14:59

@Onethingiwantfor23 the only time I seem to need to pee is when I’m fast asleep or out on a walk at the moment! Chugging water like it’s going out of fashion. At least baby is still moving semi-regularly (20+6)

OrionNebula · 18/06/2023 15:35

@Onethingiwantfor23 I'm the opposite. Peeing constantly!

cruciverbalista · 18/06/2023 15:45

Happy viability day to us @OrionNebula @Chanteuse 😊

OrionNebula · 18/06/2023 15:52

@cruciverbalista yep Smile such a relief to get to this point!

Chanteuse · 18/06/2023 16:37

@cruciverbalista @OrionNebula yay! Happy viability 🥰 also had some visible kicks for DH today too - nice Father’s Day pressie!

❤❤❤awww that is so cute.

Well done ladies, celebrate the viability marker. I am keenly awaiting mine.

peonygirl · 18/06/2023 16:57

@Onethingiwantfor23 I have noticed I pee less, not less frequently just less content. Drinking more usually doesn't really help me, I am eating melons, water melon, pineapple - they usually get my fluids going. I have also scheduled a reflexology session to see if that can help with the whole thing. I wonder if we are at the point where water retention starts?

katherine123x · 18/06/2023 18:38

@Onethingiwantfor23 I drink so much during the day but definitely peeing less and have done for weeks!! (22+4). Baby moving all the time so he's obviously ok in there!! When I do go for a wee not much comes out and it can be pretty dark too!

Onethingiwantfor23 · 18/06/2023 19:06

@peonygirl @katherine123x
Yes, definitely more of a dribble than a stream.
I've felt quite uncomfortable for 2 days with pain low down. I'm guessing it's everything stretching but may call the midwife tomorrow to see if I need my urine dipped for infection.
Haven't had any movements yet but I have a low anterior placenta.
They've told me I'll feel them around 24 weeks 🤞🏻

katherine123x · 18/06/2023 19:27

@Onethingiwantfor23 if any doubt, do ring them!!! You can never be too careful!

Definitely this for me! I have to basically chug water constantly to keep my pee in the healthy colour range. I don't feel excessively thirsty, just trying to stay hydrated within guidelines.

Plenty of amniotic fluid though, and baby is going nuts with movement.
