Hi guys. Another new thread here.
Baby #2 for us. Currently 17wk5. Baby due 24th Oct.
20 week scan on 9th June - planning to not finder out sex. We didn't with our 1st and loved the excitement of not knowing. We literally bought a pack of 6 white babygrows to take to the hospital and then when our DS was born we got loads of boys clothes from family & friends as gifts.
This worked well for us as I felt he did wear everything more than once.
My sis who found out she was having a little girl bought loads of clothes herself and then all the gifts from family too. She felt as though alot of it was wasted either only worn once if at all. Some stuff still had tags on when she took it to the charity shop xx

@VanillaOat I'm 22 weeks, just came back from holidays abroad and didn't feel any different during the flights compared to pre-pregnancy. Even the heat was not too bad but we didn't get 30+ degree weather so it was manageable. I never got flying anxiety so can't really recommend much but I'd say if it's severe the benefits of the meds would probably outweigh the risks. But as others have pointed out, try to remember that planes are the safest mode of transport there is. I think this is probably the best time to go and still enjoy holidays as normal so hope you have a lovely time xx

LaVitesse2022 · 11/06/2023 13:55

@OrionNebula maths say 3rd trimester only starts at 26.6 weeks so still a bit to go!

@Undertheappletree23 welcome! 🤍 We've got the name decided and it definitely feels super real now that we call the baby by it 🙂

VanillaOat · 11/06/2023 14:19

Thanks all so much for your messages about flying!! They really made me feel so much better and it’s so nice to have a little community on here to talk to. I’m at the airport now, going to have a look for some helpful podcasts and might go and ask about medication at boots. Also got compression socks and drinking loads of water. I think I’m going to have a tiny glass of wine with some soda or lemonade to take the edge off as well 😊

firstlittlefrazzleontheway · 11/06/2023 14:24

@OrionNebula I think officially the third trimester starts at 28 weeks

NSx · 11/06/2023 14:31

@VanillaOat enjoy 🍷 I would do exactly the same!!! Have a fabulous holiday! ☀️

OrionNebula · 11/06/2023 14:35

Ah ok. My app is way out, it says it starts next week! 😂

doeandfawn · 11/06/2023 16:30

@NSx yes it goes between legs if you’re finding your hips uncomfortable! Otherwise nice platform to use to chuck leg out the side of the bed in this heat hahaha

@OrionNebula my trust counts it from 28 weeks at least!

@VanillaOat have a great time!

@Undertheappletree23 welcome! We have name picked out, thankfully it’s our first and we’re keeping the sex a secret from everyone else so if we change our mind no big deal! I think there is a September babies group if you wanted people closer to your dd? Stay here too though, we’re all pretty active 🤗

OrionNebula · 11/06/2023 16:30

The app I'm using is American so maybe it's calculated differently there...

Ss32 · 11/06/2023 16:45

@Undertheappletree23 I'm September now too, originally was October but my date got pulled forward and it’s more active here so I’ve stuck around! My first was 2 weeks late anyway so who knows if this baby will be September or October!

Koalawhala · 11/06/2023 17:09

Hi @Undertheappletree23, we had a similar thing with our DD’s as we casually discussed names around them and now they’re using my favourite name in every game they play with their baby dolls. I guess they’re processing it but I’m hoping they don’t put my husband off it if he’s hearing it all the time, usually said in a baby voice or faux American accent 😂

OrionNebula · 11/06/2023 18:11

Sorry if TMI but... I've been sneezing a bit today, hay fever I think, and sometimes I get a bit of leaking down below... doesn't smell like pee though and it's clear? So not sure if it's something I should worry about?

Midnight00 · 11/06/2023 18:28

@OrionNebula Completely normal according to GP. So much extra pressure pushing down on things. I have to now engage pelvic floor as a sneeze comes, those exercises are beginning to pay off.

Midnight00 · 11/06/2023 18:30

I had a private reassurance ultrasound today as was feeling a bit anxious after a friend's late miscarriage. Hhe was all fine with his legs all over the place! They gave us a sneak preview of 4D but we couldn't make out his face. Is anyone planning on having one or recommend one in previous pregnancy? Not sure it's worth £90!!

Chanteuse · 11/06/2023 18:54

Has anyone else got dreadful skin? I swear I wasn’t this spotty when I was a teenager 🤮 my skin, particularly round my chin/jaw is so textured and vile. But I’m getting spots everywhere - shoulders/arms even had a few on my bump/legs 😩 I’m really struggling with it atm.

OrionNebula · 11/06/2023 20:18

So I ended up calling the duty midwife and she advised me to go in and get checked out as the fluid was clear & no smell & watery... so all a bit scary. But I've been checked now and all is fine, it was just urine after all, guess I'd better keep up those pelvic floor exercises! Smile

Alexandra07 · 11/06/2023 20:25

@Midnight00 I made a quick estimation that I need to spend around £700 for new carseats and bases for two cars, so trying to save money, anyway 3d scans make me feel uncomfortable somehow! 😂

@OrionNebula glad everything was fine!

Saturnsmoon · 12/06/2023 00:36

@Midnight00 we also had a private scan on Saturday (I live abroad and it seems to be the norm to have one monthly at this stage) and I was surprised to also get a sneak peek of the baby’s face in 3D. I have to say that I’ve always found the 3D scans a little creepy so not sure I’d personally shell out for a full one but it was a nice surprise to see what they look like.

I think there are a few ladies here planning to get one and apparently there’s an optimal window in which to do it? 28 weeks rings a bell, basically you don’t want to do it too early but also not too late as they get too snug to be able to get a proper look.

cruciverbalista · 12/06/2023 10:33

@OrionNebula glad you rang and glad everything is ok!

DSP21 · 12/06/2023 13:43

Is anyone already getting braxton hicks? I’ve been feeling tightenings since last week and now i’m 20 weeks and they’re regular and throughout the day. I had them in my last pregnancy towards the end so recognise the feeling well! Would you get in touch with th midwife?

Koalawhala · 12/06/2023 16:35

@DSP21 I’ve had them lots too (I’m 20
weeks) and remember them happening later in my last pregnancy. They happened during my 20 week scan though and the sonographer said it was totally normal

LaVitesse2022 · 12/06/2023 16:57

@Midnight00 I'm planning on having a 4D scan at 27 weeks. We want to announce baby's sex to close family and friends on our wedding in late July and want to be sure 😅(sonographer at 20w scan didn't really say how she knew or pointed to the area, just told us so we want extra confirmation). I wouldn't mind waiting now until birth, but partner is very keen to see baby again :)

VictoriaBlossom · 12/06/2023 23:07

Just a quick update.
Had my scan today.
Placenta anterior and a little low
Baby GIRL!

Blown my brain out as I was SO sure it was a boy, to the point I've only been and bought boy clothes!!!!

Measuring on track for 24/10

It's all so real, MIL came to my scan (I love her a lot) and she only had a pink bloody babygrow in her back and not a blue one.... she said she just knew it was a girl

cruciverbalista · 13/06/2023 07:43

Congrats @VictoriaBlossom 😍

doeandfawn · 13/06/2023 08:10

Congrats @VictoriaBlossom! Glad it’s not just me that was convinced it was the other sex. Take your time getting used to it. Are you still telling the father it’s a girl? 😹

doeandfawn · 13/06/2023 09:29

Best of luck to everyone with anatomy scans today! I remember there were a few of us.
