Hi guys. Another new thread here.
Baby #2 for us. Currently 17wk5. Baby due 24th Oct.
20 week scan on 9th June - planning to not finder out sex. We didn't with our 1st and loved the excitement of not knowing. We literally bought a pack of 6 white babygrows to take to the hospital and then when our DS was born we got loads of boys clothes from family & friends as gifts.
This worked well for us as I felt he did wear everything more than once.
My sis who found out she was having a little girl bought loads of clothes herself and then all the gifts from family too. She felt as though alot of it was wasted either only worn once if at all. Some stuff still had tags on when she took it to the charity shop xx

@VictoriaBlossom that’s amazing that you can share the experience with your bestie! Best of luck for the scan.

NSx · 09/06/2023 09:58

@VictoriaBlossom 🤍 oh well that’s equally lovely! Good luck I’m sure it will go swimmingly and will be nice to have your friend there too xx

Summer022 · 09/06/2023 10:07

20 week scan this morning here too. Feeling quite nervous but excited to see him again. Does anyone know if I need a full bladder for 20 week scan? It doesn’t mention it on my letter this time, it did mention it on my 12 week scan letter though!

Smiffette · 09/06/2023 10:18

@Summer022 no I don't think you do as baby is bigger. I went to the loo before I went in and part way through as apparently my bladder was still full 🙄

I have a repeat 20wk scan on Monday as there were a couple measurements they couldn't get.

In other good news I saw the consultant yesterday and my cervix is still measuring good and stable. One more scan in a couple of weeks and if all is still well I won't have to have a stitch to prevent preterm Labour.

She also checked my placenta location as it was previously said to be too close to the "exit" which if it didn't more would mean a c section. Luckily it has moved!

Summer022 · 09/06/2023 14:24

Scan went so well! Healthy baby boy! The placenta is a little low, so I have been given another scan at 34 weeks to check if it has moved but she didn’t seem too concerned and said it may move by itself by then. Other than that, all perfectly good news which is a huge relief 💗

peonygirl · 09/06/2023 14:28

@Summer022 yay another baby boy! congratulations and such a happy news that all is well! Enjoy a relaxing weekend.

monsteramunch · 09/06/2023 14:30

Ah lovely @Summer022, congratulations! Pleased you can go into the weekend excited and more relaxed, it's always stressful pre scan Flowers

LaVitesse2022 · 09/06/2023 14:44

Hey everyone, catching up after being away for hols, great to see everyone's good news on 20w scans!

I'm 22 weeks today and in the last 10 days belly has really popped. Feeling baby a few times every day now which is equal parts amazing and weird 😄

In the last 2 weeks since we found out the sex it's definitely got much more real. Especially for my partner. We've been referring to them by name and it's like they already exist, and are a person, whereas before it was just an abstract thing. Can't really explain it. It's like we can start wondering about how they'll look like, how they'll be, etc. It's wonderful ☺️

Can't believe it's just summer left and then time to meet our little ones! Scary how time has flown!

MeganC104 · 09/06/2023 17:14

Our scan went very well. Baby measuring good and placenta is posterior and high.

Alexandra07 · 10/06/2023 09:55

Scan went well yesterday, all good! I just couldn't believe it that she is still there and healthy! Suddenly is more real now! Half way through!

monsteramunch · 10/06/2023 12:25

Congrats on your scans @MeganC104 and @Alexandra07 it's so lovely hearing about everyone's Flowers

VanillaOat · 10/06/2023 22:43

Hey everyone!

Hope you’re all good and it’s so nice to see all the good news about everyone’s scans 😁❤️

So, I go on holiday tomorrow and I have crippling anxiety and nerves about the flight.. I’m a terrible flyer and normally I have a few drinks at the airport to calm my nerves or I take calming medication but obviously at 23 weeks preggers, that’s not an option this time! We are only going to Menorca but I just can’t get excited about the holiday knowing we have the flight first and it’s accelerated my nerves so much more knowing I’m now responsible for my baby girl as well..

Just wondering if anyone has any advice? Maybe any tips from those who have been abroad since being pregnant?

Summer022 · 10/06/2023 22:55

Hey @VanillaOat I am also going on holiday tomorrow and I’m going to Gran Canaria, so a nearly 4 hour flight for me! I used to be cabin crew so I find flying much easier, but please trust me when I say it’s the safest form of transport and you and your baby will be absolutely fine 😊 I have bought some super attractive flight socks for blood pressure to wear just in case and will keep moving my legs/keep hydrated. The flight will go by so quickly, most importantly just enjoy your holiday!! 😊

Really randomly I have started leaking tiny tiny amounts of breast milk, coming through my t-shirt making two very obvious but small wet patches…does anyone know if this is normal or have any experience with this, I’m only 20+3 xx

monsteramunch · 10/06/2023 22:59

Hi @Summer022 I'm 21+5 and a week or so ago I randomly had a couple of days with a little bit of leaking so I reckon it's normal! Mine stopped again so yours will be on / off like mine 😊

So jealous of your holidays, I bet they'll be lovely once you're there. And people will want to pamper you and make sure you're comfortable and well looked after when they see your bumps I'm sure ☀️

Summer022 · 10/06/2023 23:13

@monsteramunch Ahhh that’s a relief! I was just thinking surely I can’t be making any milk at only 20ish weeks but definitely seems to be normal which is good 😊 xx

Saturnsmoon · 11/06/2023 00:19

@VanillaOat I flew long haul (3 flights, 24 hours) last week and it was honestly totally fine. I’m also 23 weeks. From the moment we got to the airport to the time I arrived at destination people, staff particularly, were so lovely and accommodating to me. I didn’t do much different to usual other than wore flight socks and made sure I drank lots of water.

My husband has really bad fear of flying so I do understand that adds an extra layer to it but you will absolutely be fine.

Also I was in a Mediterranean country too and they are so family focussed that I kept getting pulled out of lines and given priority and had lots of strangers talk to me very enthusiastically about my bump which was really lovely. I’m sure you’ll have a lovely holiday and the flight is really only a very small part of it time wise. Enjoy!

NSx · 11/06/2023 07:12

@VanillaOat I went to Spain the other week 🩷 it was absolutely fine. Like everyone else said just wear your socks and drink water.
With regards to your fear of flying, is there any podcasts or anything you can listen to, to distract you and calm you? You will be absolutely fine 🤍 I didn’t find any difference in flying from before I was pregnant tbh ☀️

@Summer022 snap, I too am ex crew 😁 … I worked for a Middle Eastern airline though. Only gave it up a year and a bit ago ✈️ so for me flying is pretty routine too! 🤍

doeandfawn · 11/06/2023 07:22

Have an amazing time on your hols!

Finally got a pregnancy pillow and oh my word the difference where has this been all my life.

NSx · 11/06/2023 07:41

@doeandfawn i don’t know if I’m using mine right, it’s big and it takes up a lot of room 😂 when I wake up half is on top of my partner 😂😂😂😂

doeandfawn · 11/06/2023 07:45

@NSx I got the dreamgenii because I was worried about that (and how warm the big ones would be) and husband can still spoon me with it but for the first time in a while I’ve not woken up on my back and my lungs aren’t on fire! I know we don’t need to side sleep yet but I’ve been a back sleeper my whole life so trying to train now.

Onethingiwantfor23 · 11/06/2023 08:15

@VanillaOat I'm currently abroad at 20 weeks and was sick all the way over. It started in the airport with the smell of the toilets (it's been an issue during this pregnancy) and it kicked off a cycle of anxiety once on the plane. I ended up giving in and taking Sturgeon travel tablets as I usually do because they sedate me slightly - I had held off as they're not advised in pregnancy but I couldn't drink water so was dehydrated and felt the benefit outweighed the risk. I'll be taking them before I fly on the way back as I don't want that again. Good luck with your flight x

NSx · 11/06/2023 10:06

@doeandfawn this one isn’t MASSIVE but it does take up some room 😂😂😂 are we supposed to put the long bit between legs 😂 I just don’t know I mean I enjoy it, it’s extra pillows but I just don’t know if it makes a diff 😂😂

Undertheappletree23 · 11/06/2023 12:43

Hi all
hope it’s ok for me to join in?
Just found this thread. I’m currently 25 weeks with our second baby girl - due 20th Sept.
I feel huge this time round compared to my first pregnancy- look like I could pop any day now 😂
Baby was measuring bang on average at the 20 week scan so I’m obviously just carrying big this time lucky me 😂
Hope everyone is coping ok in the heat.
Has anyone settled on name(s) yet?
we had a name we liked and made the mistake of just referring to baby by this name to “test it out” and our almost 3 year old got wind of this and now will only accept that as baby’s name 😂😂

OrionNebula · 11/06/2023 13:10

Congrats @Alexandra07 @MeganC104 @Summer022 on your scans!

23 weeks today. Does 3rd trimester start at 24 weeks? I should really know this, it being my second 😂

monsteramunch · 11/06/2023 13:19

Welcome @Undertheappletree23!

Congrats on your baby 😊

We've got our name all sorted for our little girl, I'm so pleased my other half really likes the one I've always wanted as it saves a lot of admin trying to choose another one!

My bump is really big already (22 weeks) I think because the rest of me hasn't got any bigger yet (other than my boobs) so it looks big in comparison, but I'm sure that will change at the rate I'm eating compared to my normal appetite!

Sticking inside today as the heat really got to me yesterday and tired me out so much I felt pretty weak.

Hoping it cools down a bit this evening and isn't quite as scorching for work this week. Eek!
