Hi guys. Another new thread here.
Baby #2 for us. Currently 17wk5. Baby due 24th Oct.
20 week scan on 9th June - planning to not finder out sex. We didn't with our 1st and loved the excitement of not knowing. We literally bought a pack of 6 white babygrows to take to the hospital and then when our DS was born we got loads of boys clothes from family & friends as gifts.
This worked well for us as I felt he did wear everything more than once.
My sis who found out she was having a little girl bought loads of clothes herself and then all the gifts from family too. She felt as though alot of it was wasted either only worn once if at all. Some stuff still had tags on when she took it to the charity shop xx

@cruciverbalista stupid question but where do you put the pillow for it to help? I’ve got a pregnancy pillow but I tend to put my head on it 🤣 I’m going to have to try ga is on although I’ve never had it before so not sure I’d be able to drink it as I’m funny with tastes. Is it bad? Do you have a lot?

Saturnsmoon · 08/06/2023 10:25

@LWestYorks I’m also suffering from heartburn (day and night which is fun). The only thing that helps at night is sleeping with my head and chest slightly elevated. I’m just using two pillows which I’ve arranged in a way that they slope 🙄

Apparently tums are good but not sure you can get them in the UK? I’ve just been using Rennies but they only slightly take the edge off.

Chanteuse · 08/06/2023 10:46

I’ve got terrible, awful heartburn. I have to have gaviscon every day. I’m also prescribed omeprazole, but the gp sent me a study about the link between omeprazole and asthma (it is a really small study to be fair) but I only take the omeprazole in an emergency- I had to take one last night because I’d already had 2 sachets of gaviscon within an hour and was still dying 😮‍💨 not for the faint hearted this pregnancy heartburn!

cruciverbalista · 08/06/2023 12:47

@LWestYorks I take gaviscon double action tablets, not the liquid kind. Attached pillow setup.

@cruciverbalista I’ve given up finding any in person in my size and am just free titty until online ones show up 😹 but I had a lot of the heat rash type lines especially around sides and right under boob where wire was!

BeaKind · 08/06/2023 13:58

@LaylaHL2023 aw that’s such a shame. I had my emergency section at Rosie and it was a really lovely, calm experience. Even though it was emergency. I do know people throat have had babies at Lister too and said good things about them. X

BeaKind · 08/06/2023 14:09

*that!

Esl17 · 08/06/2023 14:14

@LWestYorks haven’t suffered from the heartburn myself but I’ve heard from a lot of people that refreshers sweets are really good for it… not the squishy lemon ones but these ones!

doeandfawn · 08/06/2023 14:40

@Esl17 thanks for the tip, off to buy 50 packs and hope for the best haha

Saturnsmoon · 08/06/2023 14:44

@Esl17 love refreshers so if they actually work I will be delighted! Gives me a good excuse to try them anyway 🤗

Esl17 · 08/06/2023 15:35

@doeandfawn @Saturnsmoon please update us- although it hasn’t hit me yet, you never know!

22+5 and my latest symptom is tingling/pins and needles in my hips! Something to do with uterus pressure on the nerves, does anyone else have this, it is THE strangest feeling ever.

NSx · 08/06/2023 15:37

@VictoriaBlossom you’re quiet 🤍 I hope you had / are having a nice holiday 😘

LaylaHL2023 · 08/06/2023 16:36

Had the scan today, baby was very active!
No clear pictures though so never bothered buying any. Have a consultant apt on the 4th July and monthly anemia bloodtests which I dont mind. Also because the belly measurements will not be accurate will get the 3 extra growth scans. Had a trainee sonographer so was on the bed almost an hour, but I never complained 😉.

I’m really jealous of your paper notes! My trust uses this god awful app and none of my info is on there 🫠 so annoying!!

VictoriaBlossom · 08/06/2023 17:33

@NSx still here

No issues with in laws, whole holiday has brought us all so close which has been really wonderful. Everyone is guessing it's a girl! Even the ladies in the pool😂

Horrific swollen feet, now bruised where they swelled so much.

Can't do many of the trips as walking across waterfalls isn't safe.... and the Jamaican Lemonade (flat Fanta lemon) is my favourite drink but we worked out that's what is causing my real bad indigestion. So been drinking water the whole time 😂 I'm definitely a cheap guest.

Real bad thunderstorms this morning, check out this photo.

Just putting bikini on and gonna go for a swim, in the rain

Missing the dog, and looking forward to my 20wk scan on Monday!!!!

Thank you for asking. Are you ok x

@VictoriaBlossom I was in Spain last week and the weather was bizarre also. Sunny during the day and then thunder & lightening and torrential rain on the evening. Wild.
Glad you’re having a lovely time!
Will you find out the babies sex? I had my 20 week scan yesterday 🩵🩷 all went well thank goodness - we won’t find out sex but I also think girl 😂🥰 …

VictoriaBlossom · 08/06/2023 19:48

@NSx actually taking my MIL as my boyfriend is racing on Monday. So she will be the first to know. And because my boyfriend won't be there I'm gonna tell him the opposite of what the sex is just cos he would rather race drag cars than come to my scan 😂

NSx · 08/06/2023 21:40

@VictoriaBlossom I’m intrigued to know if your gut feeling of a girl is correct 🥰 … let me know! That’s a bit rubbish that he isn’t coming to your scan 🥹

ES1986 · 08/06/2023 21:53

Had the 20 week scan today 😍Baby was hiding its face by facing away, then holding its hand to its face, then lifting its feet to its face! So I get another scan in two weeks to get all the measurements, which I’m very pleased about.
Starting to get excited now - halfway there!

firstlittlefrazzleontheway · 08/06/2023 22:00

Has anyone else seen any movements yet? I'm 22+1 today and last night laid in bed me and my partner could see baby boy kicking my belly for the first time ever, I could have cried seeing it!

VictoriaBlossom · 08/06/2023 22:40

@NSx we could have done a day later but I wanted to be in that hospital as soon as I could as I'll be 21 weeks then.

Plus, my best friends 12 week scan is 30 minutes before us 😂 how mental is that

Esl17 · 08/06/2023 22:56

@firstlittlefrazzleontheway yes 22+5 and started to see them this week too, still only very tiny movements but I could lie there for hours watching! I was so nervous having an anterior placenta that I wouldn’t feel much, I definitely felt them later I think but now feel and see them every day!

Ah it's such a lovely feeling isn't it! Ours hasn't stopped wriggling since she started 😂

firstlittlefrazzleontheway · 09/06/2023 07:27

@Esl17 I was worried about my anterior placenta too but he honestly doesn't stop moving!

MeganC104 · 09/06/2023 09:02

I'm officially half way today and it's our 20 week scan this morning. Can't wait to see them again
