Hi guys. Another new thread here.
Baby #2 for us. Currently 17wk5. Baby due 24th Oct.
20 week scan on 9th June - planning to not finder out sex. We didn't with our 1st and loved the excitement of not knowing. We literally bought a pack of 6 white babygrows to take to the hospital and then when our DS was born we got loads of boys clothes from family & friends as gifts.
This worked well for us as I felt he did wear everything more than once.
My sis who found out she was having a little girl bought loads of clothes herself and then all the gifts from family too. She felt as though alot of it was wasted either only worn once if at all. Some stuff still had tags on when she took it to the charity shop xx

@ES1986 sonographer actually sent me for a wee and made me empty my bladder at 20 week scan to get a clearer image so I wouldn’t say so!

Interesting, I was told to drink by my midwife. Though she's a chocolate teapot most of the time.

I am planning to arrive nice and early as the baby only gets moving once I've had a little sit down, so I want to get it settled (and not race in with the bloody traffic like last time).

I'm slightly nervy today, as I've had a second tiny pink spot this week. First was a few days ago, a few hours after sex, second this morning.

Both only the tiniest bit pink, and less than 1cm2, but making me nervous nonetheless.

Koalawhala · 07/06/2023 10:21

I had my 20 week scan yesterday and was asked to empty my bladder towards the end as I was having braxton hicks and the sonographer couldn’t be sure that the placenta was away from the cervix. It didn’t help though and they’ll check it again during later scans. My DD had restricted growth and born small so I’ll be having growth scans towards the end anyway.

I have heard you don’t need a full bladder though, and it’s only helpful if you have a tilted womb and then only during early scans like 12 weeks.

DSP21 · 07/06/2023 10:43

20 week scan done! Another looong awkward scan, walking up and down the corridors, both scans i had to empty my bladder multiple times! It squishes the baby too much. We are convinced it’s a girl but no idea, any guesses welcome!

Aah what a lovely clear picture @DSP21! So cute Flowers

Summer022 · 07/06/2023 14:23

19+6 with 20 week scan on Friday and I think I felt him move for the first time today! Had some strange sensations quite low down, I couldn’t work out if it was gas or not but it almost felt like a tiny tiny fish flopping. So subtle I could easily miss it. Unless it’s my lunch processing lol, I think I might have finally felt movement 🥹

ES1986 · 07/06/2023 14:32

I thought I felt something last night, but it was right after I’d had a load of pasta for tea, so it may well have been (in)digestion!
Not had the butterfly flutters that get referred to. Hopefully within a few weeks though

peonygirl · 07/06/2023 14:47

Same here - I felt his for the first time last night, quite low in my belly. I am 19+3w and I also thought it was indigestion but it was quite distinctive, very alien feeling of a small kick. I felt similar movement again this morning so I am quite sure this was it.

Finally had my 20w scan & all looking good and in the 50th percentile for legs etc 🥰🩷 …
baby was being awkward as usual though and couldn’t get a very good pic to take home.

We’re not finding out the sex but my partner said he heard the doctor say ‘he’s not co-operating, the chin is down’ has the doctor slipped up? or is this just something they say?

I looked for male private parts but couldn’t see any as I’m convinced it’s a girl,or was convinced it’s a girl, but after that I am not sure? 🥹 anyone know ?

Some places say he for everything as a default, some say baby as a default.

Of course, some that say "he" end up being correct - 50%, I'd guess - so people think they slipped up when that's what they do normally.

I find out Monday - my bloody husband has got me in the habit of saying she now though, so he'd better be right!

firstlittlefrazzleontheway · 07/06/2023 16:50

@NSx I've had sonographers say she a few times during scans and baby is definitely a boy (confirmed by a scan at 16 weeks and 20 week scan) I was told they use genders rather than saying it or them but that they just use either

NSx · 07/06/2023 16:50

@thecatsthecats oh good luck for Monday how exciting😁🩷 …

I guess I’m no further forward because even if the doctor said HE I don’t know if she meant it or not 😂😂😂 so it doesn’t matter much 😂

cruciverbalista · 07/06/2023 16:53

Sounds like you secretly want to know @NSx 😂

NSx · 07/06/2023 17:03

@cruciverbalista I didn’t even hear the doctor say it, it was my partner who wants a boy and now won’t shut up about it 😂😂😂😂

also got my whooping cough vaccine and I have a DEAD arm 😅🥹

NSx · 07/06/2023 17:14

@firstlittlefrazzleontheway ok thank you, this is reassuring - I just want to find out in October 😂🩷

BeaKind · 07/06/2023 18:17

@LaylaHL2023 I’m at the Rosie too. I had a good experience with them the first time round so looking forward to going there again 🙂

monsteramunch · 07/06/2023 22:07

21+2 today and finding myself getting out of breath much more quickly than usual, even feeling a bit breathless doing stuff like cleaning and getting dressed!

Wondering if it's worth mentioning to my midwife in case I might need an inhaler at some point, though it's been years (decades, other than when I have covid) since my asthma has flared up. Or maybe I should just stick it out for the next week and see if it improves.

Has anyone else had similar?

I also still want to eat loads and sleep all the time, both of which are unusual things for me or pregnancy so a bit of an adjustment all round!

doeandfawn · 07/06/2023 22:36

@monsteramunch hows your iron and ferritin levels? I had all of that and it turned out to be low levels. Would be worth checking in with midwife.

monsteramunch · 07/06/2023 22:44

That's really interesting @doeandfawn I'll ask them if I can have a blood test. My thyroid was very overactive until around 18 weeks but a blood test showed it had settled, so I wonder if maybe it's a bit dodgy again.

Alexandra07 · 07/06/2023 23:37

Congratulations on your scans! 2 more sleeps for me! By next week I guess everyone would have had the 20 week scan!

doeandfawn · 07/06/2023 23:43

@Alexandra07 good luck! I know a couple of us are on Tuesday and there’s at least one redo happening after that but we’re definitely at the tail end of Oct due dates hitting halfway now!

LaylaHL2023 · 08/06/2023 05:10

@BeaKind My best friend had all hers there and says its the best.
Have my 20wk scan today at the lister 😑. Sono was not very nice last time for 12 week. If im in for a c section I want to move to the Rosie x

LWestYorks · 08/06/2023 08:14

Hi ladies! I’m really struggling with heartburn when I get into bed on a night. Rennie’s don’t really touch it. Any tips? I’m struggling to sleep with it. X

cruciverbalista · 08/06/2023 09:00

@LWestYorks I bought a £15 wedge pillow on ebay that has actually helped quite a bit. I've also been mainlining gaviscon. That said I still get woken up from acid sliding up my throat so it's not ideal. I had reflux before I got pregnant and it has gotten really rough this trimester, so I feel your pain!

Seconding the iron suggestion @monsteramunch I actually haven't experienced this during pregnancy but I have in the past and needed iron supplements.

Is anyone else getting rashes at all? I have a small one on one breast (not the underboob/sweaty area you'd expect, just randomly on the side) that is itchy and doesn't seem to be going away. Not sure how to treat it and keep forgetting to ask my doctors with all the other more pressing health issues that keep coming up! Haha. I'll have to write it down to check with midwife next week.

Good luck to the 20 week scans coming up :)

doeandfawn · 08/06/2023 09:14

@cruciverbalista have you sized up your bras? Pregnancy makes the ribcage expand so could be where it’s too tight.

cruciverbalista · 08/06/2023 09:26

@doeandfawn what would we do without you here?? Yes, it's probably that! I've been putting it off because 'they still fit' but guess I'll add bra shopping to this weekend's to-do list 😅
