Hi guys. Another new thread here.
Baby #2 for us. Currently 17wk5. Baby due 24th Oct.
20 week scan on 9th June - planning to not finder out sex. We didn't with our 1st and loved the excitement of not knowing. We literally bought a pack of 6 white babygrows to take to the hospital and then when our DS was born we got loads of boys clothes from family & friends as gifts.
This worked well for us as I felt he did wear everything more than once.
My sis who found out she was having a little girl bought loads of clothes herself and then all the gifts from family too. She felt as though alot of it was wasted either only worn once if at all. Some stuff still had tags on when she took it to the charity shop xx

@Chanteuse Gutted I wasn't feeling up to it, I have my eye on a certain pram though so probably would have been disappointed if they didn't have any good deals on it!

Has anyone bought their pram yet? I've seen the one I want (Nuna Mixx) on sale online and I'm so tempted.. but is it too early?!

SillyOldBear3 · 06/06/2023 10:29

Also, does anyone have the link to the Facebook group? 😊 Xx

NSx · 06/06/2023 12:23

@SillyOldBear3 I’m ordering my pram at the end of this month when my in laws come back from holiday as they are paying for it, so no I don’t think it’s too early 😁

firstlittlefrazzleontheway · 06/06/2023 12:34

@SillyOldBear3 we have had our pram since 12 weeks🙈 it felt early but it was gifted to us by family and it's like new so we snapped it up

cruciverbalista · 06/06/2023 12:55

Been having a somewhat dramatic time! Was throwing up last night and briefly had black sparkles in my vision, so of course I started panicking about pre-eclampsia. The GP found trace proteins, my BP is higher than normal but below the alarm line, and signs of a UTI. I'm being given an antibiotic and checking if my midwife wants to move our next appointment sooner to keep an eye on me. Doesn't look like I'll imminently blow up though, which is a bit of a relief. Thought it had been too long of a quiet period since the last scare 😅

SillyOldBear3 · 06/06/2023 13:01

@NSx my MIL transferred some money towards a pram for us last week so we're in the same boat then! Do you know which one you're likely to go for? We live in the countryside so I'm looking for one with decent suspension for walks etc!

@firstlittlefrazzleontheway Definitely can't turn down a gift! We've been gifted a high chair from my SIL, so we've had that from 12 weeks but it's in storage in my parents' house as they have a bigger house than us!

SillyOldBear3 · 06/06/2023 13:04

@cruciverbalista oh bless you ☹️ do you get migraines? I sometimes get visual migraines with zig zag sparkles and they make me throw up. Look after yourself! Xx

Summer022 · 06/06/2023 13:56

How has everyone found their 20 week scans so far? I have mine on Friday and just wondering if it’s majorly different to the 12 week one, or fairly similar just longer? I still haven’t felt baby move yet, my partner was absolutely convinced he felt the slightest lightest movement the other night when he had his hand on my tummy in bed, but I can’t see that being possible at 19+3 feeling the movements externally especially if I can’t even feel him moving around! Trying to stay positive and can’t wait to see him again on the scan x

cruciverbalista · 06/06/2023 14:05

@SillyOldBear3 I've gotten a few but didn't really feel like one. However the doctor didn't seem too concerned as it lasted such a short while and I don't really have other symptoms. X
@Summer022 definitely think you'd be feeling things on the inside much sooner than on the outside! The 20 week is pretty in depth as they want shots of heart, spine, feet etc. I had to get up and move around a lot to try to dislodge baby.
@LaylaHL2023 I'm sure your midwife will talk you through it at length, it doesn't sound like something to lose sleep over at this stage :)

missrubi · 06/06/2023 14:09

@SillyOldBear3 we have already brought our travel system, as there was a deal package and discounted quite a bit from the original price. We decided on an ocarro, as we live quite rural and we're hoping it can handle the bumps quite well. Haven't unboxed to try out yet.
20 week scan yesterday, baby was very sleepy, kept yawning and sucking their thumb. Because of hand positioning we need to have a repeat to check the heart in more detail, but everything else looks ok for which I am grateful. We had an 80% chance of a baby girl, which left me a bit deflated as I am not sure how to interpret the 20%. So no buying girls clothes atm, will wait until the repeat scan next week.

SillyOldBear3 · 06/06/2023 14:34

@missrubi I've been considering the Ocarro too, I'm between that and the Nuna Mixx as both supposedly handle uneven terrain well.

Glad your scan went well otherwise! I have my repeat 20 week scan a week today, I had the opposite problem in that baby was too wriggly to get all measurements! Also couldn't tell us the sex as the cord was in the way.. hopefully we can find out next week!

doeandfawn · 06/06/2023 16:59

We bought the Uppababy Vista at about 16 weeks as got it really cheap - needed something that could handle daily use on pavements and tougher terrain and as I don’t drive the massive basket was a bonus. Went for secondhand and it’s honestly spotless.

Ss32 · 06/06/2023 17:07

We still have our pram from baby1 so we have the Bugaboo Fox2, need to get a buggy board for it but that’s about it

NSx · 06/06/2023 17:27

@SillyOldBear3 yes - I’ve picked my pram a long time ago 😂😅 …
I’m getting the Egg2 travel system 🤍 … I don’t live in the countryside so for me it will be mostly for going for walks round the estate and into the city, so could pretty much have whatever pram I wanted but I quite liked the aesthetic of it all.

I have my 20w scan tomorrow and was supposed to get my whooping cough vaccine before it, however I’m loaded with the cold and have been sent home from work both days this week, does anyone know if they will still give me the vaccine tomorrow?

Esl17 · 06/06/2023 17:35

@Summer022 it is a lot more detailed than the 12 week scan as they can visualise the organs now they checked the skull, brain, heart, spine, bladder, kidneys etc and also the blood flow to and from your placenta and position of the placenta. Personally I was there longer for my 12 week scan but that was purely because baby was behaving for 20 week scan and in a good position but was sent for a walk and rescan for 12 weeks. I know some people have been the opposite and been rebooked completely for 20 week scan with babies’ not cooperating it’s just luck of the draw on the day I think. The printed report is a lot more detailed than the 12 week scan.

Chanteuse · 06/06/2023 18:32

I had my 20 week redo today (I’m actually 22+2) and all was fine with baby. My trust puts all the notes online so have to wait for that unfortunately! Have a great pic of baby with his thumb up though, and he is all good in there!

MeganC104 · 06/06/2023 18:46

My 20 week scan is also this Fri. With my first my son was in a funny position so I had to go for a walk for 20 minutes and come back. Luckily he moved. But he was a lazy bum. This baby is a lot more active so who knows

Alexandra07 · 06/06/2023 18:59

I also have my 20 week scan on Friday and days are dragging! At least I felt quite a few kicks the last couple of days. It's lovely to feel her moving!

Esl17 · 06/06/2023 20:19

@Chanteuse one day ahead of you and also having a boy 💙 glad all went well, must have been an anxious wait to go back but at least you got to see baby twice!

LWestYorks · 06/06/2023 21:42

Is anyone considering a 4D scan? If so when is best to get one? I didn’t fancy one with my daughter but do this time round :-)

ES1986 · 06/06/2023 21:57

Do you have to have a full bladder for the 20 week scan like you do for the 12 week scan?
My last scan appointment was delayed by over half an hour so I was quite uncomfortable by the time I was seen! 😣😆

doeandfawn · 06/06/2023 22:01

@LWestYorks my 16 week private scan was 3D and 4D and she said she recommended waiting until 24 weeks and up for the 4D properly as baby could look a little spooky before then.

Esl17 · 06/06/2023 22:47

@LWestYorks a colleague was literally showing me their 4D photos today and they came out great at 29 weeks! I asked about this at the Window to the Womb stall at the baby show and they said 28 weeks onwards xxx

Esl17 · 06/06/2023 22:49

@ES1986 sonographer actually sent me for a wee and made me empty my bladder at 20 week scan to get a clearer image so I wouldn’t say so!

MeganC104 · 07/06/2023 07:38

I had a 4d scan with son at 29 weeks. It was great. Will do the same again
