Hi guys. Another new thread here.
Baby #2 for us. Currently 17wk5. Baby due 24th Oct.
20 week scan on 9th June - planning to not finder out sex. We didn't with our 1st and loved the excitement of not knowing. We literally bought a pack of 6 white babygrows to take to the hospital and then when our DS was born we got loads of boys clothes from family & friends as gifts.
This worked well for us as I felt he did wear everything more than once.
My sis who found out she was having a little girl bought loads of clothes herself and then all the gifts from family too. She felt as though alot of it was wasted either only worn once if at all. Some stuff still had tags on when she took it to the charity shop xx

@OrionNebula I’m sure it’s just stretching/baby pressing on things I’m sure we’re likely to feel all sorts of aches and pains in the coming weeks as they get bigger and heavier and all our organs are getting squashed!

ES1986 · 04/06/2023 21:26

19 weeks today and over the past few days my stomach has felt really sore and tender. Very different to the stretching/round ligament pain I’ve felt before. Anyone else had this?

LaylaHL2023 · 04/06/2023 22:36

@Esl17 Noticed the hospital name on your scan, I had my son there! Wanted to go for this one but we are a bit too far away x

Esl17 · 04/06/2023 22:40

@LaylaHL2023 aww, did you have a good experience?! X

LaylaHL2023 · 04/06/2023 22:45

@Esl17 Yes I did!
I hate hospitals and wanted a home birth, but overdue and big baby so I was induced. Met one of my really good friends there who now lives a few doors down (midwife) 😄
Under the lister at the moment but will transfure over to addenbrooks as its just as close now. Have fibroids so no chance of a home birth for this one 😑.

doeandfawn · 05/06/2023 09:19

@ES1986 is it sore to the touch?

peonygirl · 05/06/2023 12:42

I am 19w today and I am utterly exhausted. Anyone else feels the same? I worry something is not right, I had so much energy the last couple of days, but today just hit me full on. I cannot fully concentrate, all I want to do is nap.

firstlittlefrazzleontheway · 05/06/2023 13:20

@peonygirl I'm 21+5 today and I also feel drained. I'm so tired all the time and sleep around 10-12 hours a night. My midwife checked my ferritin levels to check they weren't low and causing tiredness but it came back fine so I'm putting it down to the fact that I'm growing a baby and my body needs to rest

ES1986 · 05/06/2023 13:54

It’s not too bad today, but was sore yesterday, yeah. I have my scan on Thursday, hope everything’s ok.

katherine123x · 05/06/2023 14:28

@peonygirl @firstlittlefrazzleontheway I have been exhausted since 3 weeks. Every day. Totally relentless. 21+5 today and honestly not much better. Had an hour nap at lunch today, struggling with energy to do the most simple tasks!! But also now accepting I think my pregnancy will be like this and not have the energy burst that some mamas get in the second trimester. Set realistic expectations for your day, don't over do it and listen to yourself 💗

ForeverAndEvers · 05/06/2023 14:56

@katherine123x @peonygirl @firstlittlefrazzleontheway another one feeling exhausted! I've put it down to also have a very energetic toddler but I was really hoping for a burst of energy in my second trimester but I'm 19+5 and no such luck yet. Think pregnancy effects everyone differently and so many factors can impact it but think its just important to listen to your body and rest (when possible).

monsteramunch · 05/06/2023 16:24

Another exhausted woman reporting for duty! I think my tiredness got way worse around week 19, I was struggling to keep my eyes open past around 3pm on work days.

I honestly don't know how those of you who already have toddlers are doing it!

I work for myself and while that's really stressful when it comes to sorting things like maternity allowance and leave, I do feel blessed that I can clock off for an hour or so whenever I need (usually) for a nap if I'm struggling to stay awake. Trying to see the positives that counter the stress of being self employed!

Spoke to my neurologist today and got the go ahead on definitely opting for a planned c section as it's safest for my underlying issues, more measured and controlled condition management wise.

So will get reading up on that in the coming weeks.

I'm 21 weeks today and can't believe how quickly it's going!

Ss32 · 05/06/2023 17:22

Another tired one here but I think it’s just life working full time and being pregnant with a toddler! I was drained yesterday so have taken a multivitamin and eaten some red meat hoping an iron boost will help

SillyOldBear3 · 05/06/2023 17:46

@OrionNebula I get exactly that, especially if it's a slightly uphill walk requiring a bit more effort. It's not painful, just an uncomfortable tightness. I think it's just stomach muscles stretching, as they've been displaced a bit by the bump. Also, I notice it's worse if I've just eaten... I suppose the belly is even bigger then 🤣

NSx · 05/06/2023 17:47

I too am exhausted and to top it off I have some sort of nasty cold/flu/sinus thing going on, so I had to go home from work all lunchtime & I’ve slept all afternoon 🤒
horrendous

Chanteuse · 05/06/2023 18:28

I’m exhausted too, but defo overdone myself at the weekend - big bbq, baby show and Coldplay last night and I didn’t get home til 12.35am 🫣 have been knackered in work today. Back is absolutely killing too 😩

20wk scan part 2 tomorrow let’s hope baby plays ball 🤣

LaylaHL2023 · 05/06/2023 18:37

Also shattered today. My job is a constant on the feet job and I put in for Maternity leave on my due date, expecting to do 4 weeks holiday before.. Not sure im going to last!
Also have this 20 week scan on Thursday, and check if this fibroid has grown. Anyone else been diagnosed with them during pregnancy?

SillyOldBear3 · 05/06/2023 18:42

@Chanteuse good luck with your 2nd attempt at 20 week scan! My 2nd go is a week tomorrow! How was the baby show? Was it the Liverpool one you went to? I had tickets to attend yesterday but I'd been away working at events last week until Saturday night so I was just too exhausted to make it! 😦

OrionNebula · 05/06/2023 19:00

@SillyOldBear3 that's exactly it and I did notice it was worse when we were walking back after eating bbq! Sounds like we have the same thing

Esl17 · 05/06/2023 19:39

@LaylaHL2023 oh that’s really reassuring to know you had a positive experience, Thankyou! First baby for me but have been really impressed with them so far in terms of scans etc, every appt has run on time and all the staff are really nice!

cruciverbalista · 05/06/2023 19:46

@LaylaHL2023 Me! I have fibroids so I'm meant to see a consultant at some point. Nobody seems too worried at this stage, I think it just means more scans later on, and possibly a c-section if one blocks the baby's exit. Also more measures to mitigate blood loss. Is that what they told you? Mine didn't seem too disruptive at the 20 wk scan though bab was apparently trying to hide behind one!

Good luck this week @SillyOldBear3 and @Chanteuse ! Did your baby like Coldplay? I've been enjoying playing music to my belly haha. Going to a concert next week and can't wait!

Chanteuse · 05/06/2023 19:57

@SillyOldBear3 yeah! There were some great deals but we didn’t buy anything - they didn’t have the pram we wanted and we’d already bought our furniture. Was worth it just for the goodie bag though tbf - had bottles and dummies and stuff in so that’s good!

@cruciverbalista he had a lazy day yesterday but he did seem to like the music only when I sat down though (ended up snagging seats instead of standing!)

doeandfawn · 05/06/2023 20:11

@peonygirl also 19w today and very much agree! I thought I’d had the mythical 2nd trimester energy boost for a while there but everything takes so much more energy now. Preparation for when LO is running us ragged I guess!

peonygirl · 05/06/2023 20:20

Oh thank you ladies, I feel so much better now. I really had way more energy before and I guess was just so happy that the horrid first trimester was over but now my bed is my best friend again and I needed 2 naps during the day today. I guess baby growth is taking up the energy, I just didn't expect I'll be this run down again so I worried it was just me. I am for sure not glowing :)

I have 20w scan next week so hopefully that will reassure me a bit. It is such a roller coaster.

LaylaHL2023 · 05/06/2023 21:22

@cruciverbalista
It was picked up on a private scan so not sure whats what yet. Google scared me but looked into it more and feel a bit more easier about it. Know its on the back wall, 3x3x3.2cm. Placenta is anterior so hopeful that means less issues.
