I can see one for this so in my excitement thought I’d start one. Due date is 1st Jan for me 😊

I’m 37 and pregnant with no. 2. We tried for 4 months so lucky not too long.

This is so daft I know but I last did a FRER 8 days ago and it was dark but only a tad darker than the control line. Had this niggly 'you haven't had a dye stealer though' thing so I caved to the madness this afternoon. I know it's ridiculous and I know it doesn't guarantee anything but I think I can put that niggle to bed now! šŸ˜†

@PartRadish haha I'd say so! šŸ˜‚

@Brokenpancreas94 that's good that they'll be scanning you, mine is private... and will likely change date depending if my partner has to work that weekend!

sheengr · 22/05/2023 17:22

Congratulations allšŸ’šŸ’

My first appointment just got booked for like 9th~10th week. Notified via a text message/email. No phone calls. St Marys imperial NHS. Wondering if it is normal? It’s my first time and am above 35.. we’re considering doing a scan around 7-8 weeks and harmony/nipt test. I think via private. Has anyone gone through a similar journey before or plan to do so?

This community has been the best - supportive and open mindedā™„ļø Thanks all.

Brokenpancreas94 · 22/05/2023 17:29

@suz2285 apparently antenatal will need a confirmation scan or something, it's provisionally booked in for the 14th so far

Cheeseycheeseycheesecheese · 22/05/2023 17:46

I had a call from my Dr's on Wednesday (17th) 4 days after my self referral, but I missed the call, when I called back the receptionist said there were no notes on my file and noone has called back as yet.

Bit worried I've slipped through?

RootsHere · 22/05/2023 18:02

I’m getting dizzy every time I stand up, it’s now getting ridiculous šŸ˜‚šŸ¤¦ā€ā™€ļø anyone else?

5+3 here and to be fair I’ll take any symptom, we’ve been ttc for two years and had a miscarriage at 7 weeks last year, so any signs are appreciated here!

Mummyme87 · 22/05/2023 18:03

@sheengr yes that’s normal. Most big units don’t call, and a booking anywhere between 7-11 weeks is normal.

FirstT1meMum · 22/05/2023 18:24

I'm the same...I rang the community midwife as I realised I'd put my number wrong on the self referral šŸ¤¦šŸ¼ā€ā™€ļø and they said my midwife had tried to contact me but obviously got no answer and hopefully she will ring back this week. They said they should ring at different times in the hope one of them suits you xx

Lightningrain · 22/05/2023 18:40

@sheengr I had the same with an email today.

Unfortunately there was no contact number and the date they’ve given me is while I’m on holiday. I’m hoping a letter will follow in the post with details as it doesn’t say where to go - it was just a date and time.

sheengr · 22/05/2023 18:44

@Mummyme87 Thank you!

I actually got to speak with a midwife at St Marys. She was super nice and provided some tips.

Very first appointment between 8-11 weeks
First scan between 11-14 weeks

  • Extremely difficult to reschedule the NHS appointment
  • if rescheduled, very likely it will be at a later date then all other scans can be delayed further - try to stick to the original booking
  • A mid-stream urine sample will be needed at every appointment so it'd be handy and useful to bring one - therefore, no need to use the toilet at the hospital etc..
  • Have the voicemail ON as if you have a missed call and try to call back, you can never get through to the person/unit who rang
  • If wanted, the Harmony test is recommended via
  • https://fetalmedicine.com/harmony-test/

Sharing these for FYI :) Hope some would find them useful.

Harmony test

Harmony Test - The Fetal Medicine Centre

The Harmony test analyzes cell free DNA in maternal blood and gives a strong indication of whether the babyĀ is at high or lowĀ chanceĀ of having trisomy 21

sheengr · 22/05/2023 18:49

@Lightningrain oh really, I received a link in the email and the link led to a letter in pdf which had details - if your hospital is st marys or QC Imperial you can call 02033133926 Option 1 tomorrow - hopefully you are able to reschedule to a better date

Cheeseycheeseycheesecheese · 22/05/2023 19:06

Thank you @sheengr those bullet points are really helpful.
I'm going to give my surgery a call Wednesday if I've not heard back, although tbh, if she's based at the surgery, it may only be Wednesdays. When I had ds the midwife I saw was based at my previous gp surgery for appointments, but only on Mondays.

I've had a read back and I'm glad all the scans have gone well so far šŸ˜€

TrudyProud · 22/05/2023 20:11

@sheengr @Mummyme87 I think we must live near. I'm having my antenatal care at QCCH (same as my daughter). They share staff with st Mary's - when I gave birth in 2022 some patients transferred between to use the birthing centre

FirstT1meMum · 22/05/2023 20:11

Is anyone else struggling with appetite? I'm finding that I'm not hungry at all and I'm having to force myself to eat (something I have never struggled with). I don't have any nausea or sickness or aversions just really don't feel like eating! Please tell me I'm not alone 🫣 6w+5

TrudyProud · 22/05/2023 20:14

In other news my 13 month old has chicken pox 😭😭. My mum is certain I've already had it it but I've had a blood test at the GP just to be certain. Keeping everything crossed.

Blessedmummytobe · 22/05/2023 20:20

@Valerie94 @FirstT1meMum its odd isn’t it? I actually have eaten today. Mostly sweet stuff. Struggled with the savoury food…I’m finding most days it’s after 3pm before I eat.

@RootsHere I’m having dizziness too. I have a large tv and even looking at that is now making me spin lol.

Nausea and tender boobs are on and off. I almost felt bloated today and was like…is it one or two in there ha.

i have booked a private scan just to reassure myself also thrown in a sneak peak test too šŸ¤žšŸ¾

Mummyme87 · 22/05/2023 20:21

@TrudyProud I’m booking at St George’s in Tooting, where I work. I live in Sutton though. My friend is one of the bereavement midwives at QCCH and St Mary’s

Wanderlust86 · 23/05/2023 09:59

I just booked a private scan for tomorrow. I couldn't stop myself šŸ˜†
12 weeks seems so long to wait.

CaptainMuddle · 23/05/2023 10:20

@FirstT1meMum Yes! Even though I must be hungry as my tummy is grumbling away. I’ve been nibbling often to stay on top of it. I’m really not interested in drinking either. I’m not nauseous, just really not feeling thirsty. It’s so weird!

@TrudyProud Oh no, sorry to hear about the dreaded pox! I hope you avoid and have plenty of support with everything šŸ’•

Misspotterscat · 23/05/2023 10:23

Hi all. I’m tentatively joining this thread after joining the December thread only to have a miscarriage at 6 weeks.
It would seem the theory that you’re fertile after a loss holds some weight as I am now 4+3. I have known for over a week as I was on edge so testing as part of my morning routine and got a very faint line at 9dpo. I have been having ā€œdye stealersā€ for days now but still can’t stop testing as my lines were so faint last time, so the dark lines are helping to ease my anxiety. I also got 2-3 weeks on a clearblue the day after my expected period. This will be my first baby and my EDD is 28th Jan according to my app.

Congratulations to you all ā¤ļø Wishing you all healthy and happy pregnancies.

May I ask what symptoms you're experiencing as you're 4W 3D just like me x

Tiredness and hunger. I have slightly sore boobs too, but the tiredness and hunger are my main ones. How about you?

sashastuck · 23/05/2023 10:35

@Misspotterscat congratulations and sorry for your loss - all the odds are in your favour for a happy, healthy pregnancy ā¤ļø X

I’ve been quiet in the thread but reading every message! @Wanderlust86 Enjoy your scan šŸ˜

I’m 7 weeks today which means 1 week until my scan, yay! I told my headteacher at work as I didn’t want to send through the appointment request without saying something in person. She was really lovely about it and even checked I was taking my vitamins, haha. Still no more symptoms for me other than the boobs and sciatica , which turns out one of my friends had in her first trimester too!

buckingmad · 23/05/2023 10:40

Midwife finally rang. Appointment booked for 9th June when i’ll be 9 weeks. Luckily it’s at my local GP rather than the hospital. Much easier!

I’ve eaten probably what I’d normally eat in a day but over a week and yet I am so bloated. I know it’s not a bump cause it’s way too early but honestly I look like I did at about 4 months pregnant last time! Really hope this bloat dies down by the time I go on holiday in a few weeks.

cossie13 · 23/05/2023 11:04

Had a call from the hospital this morning, turns out I'd missed the due date off my referral form! She said I'll be approximately 5 weeks, and I've got my booking appointment for 26th June and first scan for 10th July!! Time cannot go quick enough!
