I can see one for this so in my excitement thought I’d start one. Due date is 1st Jan for me 😊

I’m 37 and pregnant with no. 2. We tried for 4 months so lucky not too long.

Is anyone having any spotting? I keep having a small amount of brown spotting when I wipe this past few days, can't help but think the worst.
Hoping it's just old blood being forced out since I did have quite a heavy implantation bleed

I had this yesterday morning but seems to have cleared up now. Not very helpful but it does seem pretty common early on in pregnancy.

sashastuck · 23/05/2023 11:26

@confused6789 it’s hard not to worry but I’ve seen so many people ask this on here and elsewhere and it’s almost always completely fine! Old blood is just that, old, so don’t worry x

confused6789 · 23/05/2023 11:35

@Flossiepot @sashastuck thank you both, I think I've just got in my own head a bit since I've never had this in any other pregnancy

lucya66 · 23/05/2023 12:28

@buckingmad I’ve also had the bloat!! I look 5 months pregnant at some points. Constantly burping and feeling sick too.

im eating so much just to stop the nausea. :(

PartRadish · 23/05/2023 12:45

Congratulations to the new joiners 😊

Thank you for the various info about TV/early scans. I've just rung and rearranged mine from this Saturday (6+3) to Saturday 10th (8+3). I thought about it a lot and I just feel like 6 weeks is a bit too early for me, I think it'll have the opposite effect and fuel my anxiety if things aren't clear etc. Plus I might also be able to avoid Dildo Cam by 8 weeks 🤣

Spaghettihoo · 23/05/2023 12:48

Hi everyone. I have watched this thread closely for the last 4 weeks since getting a positive test result. I had a private scan yesterday and saw and heard the heartbeat! Measurements said I was 7w5d. I had my booking in appointment yesterday with the midwife after 2 early losses in the last few months I did not imagine that we would get this far which is why I didn't want to join the thread earlier and jinx it if that makes sense.

mashm24 · 23/05/2023 13:02

Joining please! I'm due 31st Jan so more likely a Feb baby - but would like to join here just incase :-)

This will be our second baby, I have a 1 year old as well. Already feeling nauseas, sore boobs and tired! Hoping the 12 weeks go quickly...

suz2285 · 23/05/2023 13:32

@PartRadish totally agree and I've got mine booked for 8+2 as well for the same reasons... though I don't mind the vag cam šŸ˜‚

@Spaghettihoo welcome! Totally understandable, few of us have had MC as well and the first few weeks seem precarious, only 5 and a bit over here and feeling the same, I really need to call to book midwife next week I think but I didn't make it to my appointment last time so it's a bit scary booking it tbh!

Is anyone else really struggling with how much we can’t eat now?

Currently on holiday, and finding I’m trying to google every single ingredient and lots of things and now on the ā€œno goā€ list. I’m already a fairly fussy eater and really struggling.

I accidentally ate some burratta earlier without realising that it’s a risk, and now I feel permanently paranoid that I’m hurting my baby…

Mushroo · 23/05/2023 14:08

@Firsttimerugbymum burrata is fine - it’s usually pasteurised so don’t worry!

I struggled on holiday because of the no raw eggs and there was mayo on EVERYTHING.

In the UK I’ve found it a lot easier - I am really missing sushi though, I’ve had a hankering for spicy tuna rolls that won’t go away! Need to look into cooked / veggie sushi.

Thanks Musroo - yes definitely a nightmare. Last night had a limited menu, and really either wanted carbonara or steak, neither of which I could have!

I know I need to try and take it easy as the stress is probably worse for the baby but as it’s my first it’s all a bit of a minefield

sashastuck · 23/05/2023 14:17

@Mushroo I didn’t realise mayo was a no-go! NOOO!

Mushroo · 23/05/2023 14:18

@Firsttimerugbymum totally understand, abroad is much harder as well as I found it couldn’t easily explain I wanted things well cooked!

Im already planning for a steak and sushi feast in January šŸ˜‚

You can have sushi in the UK as long as it's flash frozen when caught (most of it is in the UK).

as long as it's made from pasteurised eggs (which most big brands in the UK are) then you're fine :)

@sashastuck its fine in the UK! Just abroad can be bit dodgy because the eggs aren’t the same standards.

It’s probably fine in a lot of places outside the UK as well but I didn’t want to take the risk

suz2285 · 23/05/2023 14:59

I had veggie sushi for lunch, but as long as it's not raw it's fine...

I'm def not avoiding Mayo, cheese etc, In the uk anyway everything is pasteurised, only avoiding too much caffeine, and alcohol (I don't drink anyway) but that's about it! šŸ˜‚

buckingmad · 23/05/2023 15:49

I don't miss anything right now because I am surviving on a diet of ready salted crisps and 7up but once the sickness passes I'll miss pate and steak and that's about it.

youaremysunshine03 · 23/05/2023 16:04

Has anyone else had a total loss of symptoms? Seems like everyone here has quite strong symptoms.
I’m an anxious mess! My sore boobs, nausea and fatigue have all gradually faded and I’m only 6 weeks. Today I just dont feel pregnant anymore. I lost my last pregnancy at this point (but didn’t start bleeding for a week), so I’m just so scared of it all happening again. Guess I just need to wait until my scan on 1st June to see what’s going on.

Mummyme87 · 23/05/2023 16:05

There’s nothing I’ve stopped having as yet.. except alcohol. I remember from previous pregnancies only stopping having pate and getting steaks where I knew it would be decent. Otherwise the risks are minimal

ThomasinaLivesHere · 23/05/2023 16:22

I still eat sushi. Women in Japan still eat it in pregnancy and here most of it’s frozen first so kills bacteria and isn’t a risk. I’ve just stopped alcohol, caffeine and things high in vitamin A like pate which I rarely ate anyway so not finding it so bad. It’s best just to stick to NHS guidelines as some info on web can be out of date or for other countries with different food standards (obviously it’s relevant if you’re travelling abroad).

@youaremysunshine03 that's the rubbish thing about pregnancy, everything is so variable, some people have zero symptoms, some have them come and go, like you say you can't tell until the scan, it's not a fun time really

Hope you're ok

ThomasinaLivesHere · 23/05/2023 16:24

@confused6789 I’m the same. I’ve had some light spotting of dark blood. Hoping it’s nothing. It does seem normal from what I’ve read.

@youaremysunshine03 I have hardly had any nausea at all, and my boobs are getting less sore, I’m 5w+6. It’s quite anxiety inducing isn’t it, I’d almost rather be feeling rubbish but have the comfort of knowing it’s a good sign. Virtual hand hold from me xx
