@iloveeggs I remember I was ILL with the cold the week I found out I was pregnant it was truly awful. Drinking hot water with lemon and honey got me through it though, get well soon x

katherine123x · 12/04/2023 13:00

@OrionNebula so glamorous!!

Thank you for sharing x

iloveeggs · 12/04/2023 13:04

@NSx I will try the hot water and honey too, I will try anything. My face feels like it's going to explode.

Just got our NIPT test back and all super low risk and found out the gender so that gave ma little boost through the shittiness of the sickness 😅

firstlittlefrazzleontheway · 12/04/2023 13:05

@LaVitesse2022 my trust booked me in for my 20 week scan immediately after my 12 week scan at the women's unit reception

Koalawhala · 12/04/2023 13:07

@nsx she predicted girl and seemed pretty confident about it! Will see what harmony results say next week. We have 2 girls and i think 3 would be awesome but happy either way 😊

NSx · 12/04/2023 13:18

@iloveeggs aww that’s brilliant news and such a relief, I got the same results from my NIPT, it was such a weight off my shoulders 💓 so happy for you.
Yes defo try the hot water I think it helped and kept me hydrated.

@Koalawhala aww that’s so lovely 💕 congratulations 🥳 mum of girls 💕 I wonder if she’s right 😛🌸
we aren’t finding out but I keep trying to look at the nub on my pics however I don’t know if I’m getting the ‘nub’ confused with legs as I think the baby was sitting to the side. We have another scan next week so will take another look at the pics when I get them next time.

In all honesty the only things that must be bought new are mattresses and car seats (unless you can absolutely 100% be certain it's not been in a crash, has been stored correctly and is not expired (8-10 years for most)).
For DS we got a pristine pram that the woman had been saving for No2 but ended up expecting twins.

We were loaned a lot too.

Many things that we kept will be reused for DC2.

Jealousofchiliheeler · 12/04/2023 13:28

@iloveeggs I'm just getting over a cold and it really sucks when you can't take most of the usual things to help! Mine also progressed way more than it would usually do, conjunctivitis as well, that I'm still not fully over!
Hope yours gets better soon, I also found hot lemon and ginger (made with fresh lemon and ginger) was really soothing.

katherine123x · 12/04/2023 13:34

@iloveeggs congratulations!! This is great news!!!

iloveeggs · 12/04/2023 13:35

Thanks everyone, now to get rid of this stupid cold. I'll ask my husband to bring home some supplies for me.

SillyOldBear3 · 12/04/2023 14:12

@PrimarilyParented oh would absolutely love to see your list if you're able to share it with me? 😊 First timer here and feeling really overwhelmed with planning what I need to purchase!

Alexandra07 · 12/04/2023 14:15

@Chanteuse i am not buying anything before the 20 week scan unless in super offer. But I have started saving for the expenses we will have and I plan to monitor prices and buy things when on offer. If you make a list of what you want and started looking around, you will keep yourself busy!

@LaVitesse2022 you probably can get away with using the sink, anyway newborns don't need to be bathed often. I wouldn't be able to use the sink, I would be scared I would drop the baby! Last time I used something bigger than the picture below but I need to find it again. The one I had had removable mesh, was bigger and lasted for 2 years. It's handy when they are small, they want a bath but you don't need to fill in the whole bathtub, and baby is contained!

Alexandra07 · 12/04/2023 14:16

Forgot the picture!

Keep sharing the news of positive scans and nipts everyone!

@iloveeggs for sore throat warm milk with sage works wonders. It might not be easy to get fresh sage (maybe large supermarket) but you could use the tea bag of sage tea if it is easier to get. I also put some honey in it. I hope you get better soon.

Chanteuse · 12/04/2023 15:27

@PrimarilyParented I’d also love to see your list if poss?

Just woken up from my mid day nap 😴 I honestly don’t know how I’m going to manage without them when I’m back to work next week 😩

mrsmabbs · 12/04/2023 15:37

Hello,

Thought I’d finally introduce myself, I’ve been a serial lurker!
this is my 4th pregnancy but all previously ended in loss so we’ve been sooo anxious. I’m now 15 weeks so the hope and excitement is starting to grow 🥹🤍🤞
I’ve attached a pic of my 12 week scan, I think girl from the nub theory but we’re not going to find out!
I have another NHS scan booked at 16+5 because of my history so can’t wait to see them again then 🤞

MeganC104 · 12/04/2023 15:49

@SnookyPook same. My husband is dead against it and wants to wait though and now it's so close I feel like I can stick it out a bit longer.

cruciverbalista · 12/04/2023 16:03

@mrsmabbs Welcome! Great photos 😍

DancingNancies · 12/04/2023 16:17

@Chanteuse we won't buy anything until we know the sex - if it's a third boy we have SO much stuff so will only need a few seasonal bits, and if it's a girl (which I've convinced myself it's not!) then we're pretty much good until 1 year, but means I can start sorting and selling DS2s clothes as he grows out of them to fund some new stuff!

@LaVitesse2022 my 20w scan was booked yesterday at my 12w one by the hospital.

For baths - we found this (https://amzn.eu/d/9vkrBnZ) kind of thing more useful than a solid bath (have used both with DS1&2), alongside the babydam dividers you can get to block off a bit of the bath to save water. Quite expensive from their site, but some boxed ones on ebay for a decent price. DS1 was really long so outgrew the solid bath within a couple of months 🙈 but it didn't matter if his legs dangled over the edge of the seat!

iloveeggs · 12/04/2023 16:33

@mrsmabbs Welcome to the group and congrats!!

Koalawhala · 12/04/2023 16:52

@mrsmabbs welcome and congratulations! Sounds like you have had a long journey up until this point. It must have been lovely to have your scan and see your little one

As for colds/sore throats, I made my own lemsips when I was ill last pregnancy. Lemon and/or ginger, hot water and emptied a paracetamol capsule in. It worked quite well and actually nicer than lemsip I think (and no caffeine)

Ss32 · 12/04/2023 17:39

We don’t have much to buy this time which is good money wise but a bit boring compared to last time 😂 bath wise, we have one of those tub type ones (can’t remember the name!), she was in it until about 8 months and it was great!

Ladies, I don’t want to scare you but I checked in with my little girls nursery this morning and they don’t have baby spaces until September 2024! So it’s worth researching now if you need a place! I know our area is crazy busy but I wasn’t planning to take a year!

LaVitesse2022 · 12/04/2023 17:42

Thank you @Alexandra07 and @DancingNancies the mesh thing looks really good for holding baby. And I like that the second one is foldable, much better for storing than a hard bath!

Hmm, I'm starting to think I might've missed something on booking the 20 week scan 🤔 I'll probably wait till next week and ring them to double check.

LaVitesse2022 · 12/04/2023 17:43

Welcome and congratulations @mrsmabbs ! Lovely scan pic 🤍

PrimarilyParented · 12/04/2023 18:14

@LaVitesse2022 i didn’t buy a bath, just used a new plastic sink tub bought from the hardware store. Then I used a baby bath support after a few weeks and bathed him in the bath. I really only needed the tub initially because post section I would have struggled to sit and lean into the bath. Being able to put the tub on the table was really useful.
