I think we’ve nearly done telling family now, my other half has a couple more people (hopefully today!) then I have my social media photos ready to go!

I stupidly got on the scales yesterday and have put on nearly a whole stone, I think I’m 16 weeks tomorrow! I’ve been a big eater this pregnancy whereas last time I couldn’t stomach anything! I also have had my first sober night out this weekend too, it was fine, not quite the same as drinking but hey ho!

NSx · 10/04/2023 08:43

@Ss32 how did you tell your work? I’m terrified 😂😂😅😅😅😅

I’m only 11+5 so still got a while to go before I ‘need’ to tell people, so far we just told our parents and siblings.

I haven’t stepped on the scales, no point I don’t need that drama in my life 😂😂😂 I can tell by my clothes I’m heavier 🥹plus I haven’t stopped eating really 😂 what baby is this for you?

we won’t be doing a social media post, when I lost my baby last year I found it extremely triggering to see people announce their pregnancies on Instagram, I would hate to do that to someone else as you just don’t know what people are going through I suppose? But I think it’s lovely for you if that’s how you want to tell the world 💕

Smiffette · 10/04/2023 08:58

We are planning to tell people after our scan and combined test results are all back so probably weekend after next. I'll be around 14-15 weeks then, but I don't really want to tell people before then.

I'm just glad the weather has been nice and I could wear some looser dresses, other wise it would be hard to hide I think as we've seen both sets of parents this weekend!

I will be relieved to get it out as I'm really struggling g to fit in clothes and have ordered a few maternity things. I know I'm trying to suck it in a hit and it just gets uncomfortable especially after good!

I weighed myself this morning, I've put on 11lbs so far 🙈 I just hope I don't put on as much as last time. I did loose it all but it's hard work carrying all the extra weight! hoping having a toddler to run around after will help keeping it off a bit!

Ss32 · 10/04/2023 09:01

@NSx well it’s a family business so I told them as family members rather than my boss 😂 we didn’t tell anyone until 14 weeks though as my scan was late.

Aww I’m sorry for your loss. I have a close friend struggling with TTC at the moment and I’ve talked to her separately. It’s always hard to know what to do for the best.

This is my second, my first baby was a Covid baby so the world is really different this time, I think that’s made a big difference to how well I’ve felt in pregnancy as it’s been a beeeze this time compared to last (apart from a few rocky weeks early on!)

Summer022 · 10/04/2023 09:26

12 week scan tomorrow. Excited to see baby and so nervous 😆 wish I could go in there just feeling excited rather than worrying all the time. I just hope they’re doing ok in there. Symptoms have massively eased, virtually nothing left 😟 I know it’s considered normal but it does make me feel a bit wobbly.

LR94 · 10/04/2023 09:42

@Summer022 i’m having a private 12 week scan tomorrow and a NIPT. My NHS one isn’t until the week after which will probably get rearranged…again!
My symptoms have slowed down which i think is normal about now.
good luck for your scan tomorrow, would love to see the picture! Xxx

JoanneV · 10/04/2023 09:52

@Summer022 @LR94 I have my scan tomorrow too. First one. Think my nausea is gone but I have butterflies in my stomach from it. I'm gonna be a wreck in the morning. 🙈

FirstTimeMamaB · 10/04/2023 09:55

@joannev @summer022 @lr94 I also have my 12 week scan tomorrow! Anxiety starting to kick in now. Feels like a long time waiting for it. How are you ladies feeling??

NSx · 10/04/2023 10:01

@Ss32 thats not so bad then, atleast they were happy for you 😂😅💓

yea it’s really not nice to see these online posts when you’re on the other side of it, it is quite upsetting in my experience so I’m very mindful of what I’ll post tbh.

I’ve read a few ladies feeling like they had a very different experience during lockdown/covid being pregnant- atleast this time round you can really enjoy your pregnancy. One thing my friend did mention was that being pregnant during covid meant she didn’t have to miss any events 😂😂 and not drink whilst other people were drinking as everyone was stuck at home anyways 😂😅😂😅

Summer022 · 10/04/2023 10:01

@LR94 Ahhhh good luck for your scan! Let us know how you get on and would love to see a picture too 🥰 xx

@JoanneV butterflies here too! Such a mixture of excited and nervous. What time is your scan? Got mine at 8:30am. Counting down the hours now lol. Xx

NSx · 10/04/2023 10:03

Good luck to all the ladies with their 12w scan this week. I did a private one on Saturday and I got to hear the heartbeat which was truly magical 💓 I hope you all have a lovely experience 🧡

Summer022 · 10/04/2023 10:03

@FirstTimeMamaB Ahhh so exciting, it will be so lovely to see baby on the screen. I had one at 10+3 so will be interesting to see how they have grown in short space of time. Good luck for tomorrow, it’s so nice there’s a few of us with scans tomorrow 🥰 xx

DancingNancies · 10/04/2023 10:14

@FirstTimeMamaB @JoanneV @Summer022 @LR94

Another one with a scan tomorrow too, not til 12.20 though so an anxious morning to suffer first! I had a scan at 10+4 and baby was wiggling around everywhere so I really hope that's what I see tomorrow too.

My friend is over all day, so I'm going to tell her later and ask if she can watch my DC for an hour so DH can come to the scan with me...only other person who knows is my boss, told her I was looking to significantly reduce my hours over a 9 month period come October 😂

Koalawhala · 10/04/2023 10:57

We came back from holiday expecting lots of nhs letters with scan dates and appointments but nothing! Only a print out of my booking info. I’m 11+3 so would have thought I’d have a 12 week scan booked at least, will have to chase it tomorrow. Has anyone else had this?

Nice to hear about people’s happy Easter’s sharing their news. My Mum is coming over today and I feel like I should tell her but really don’t want to! She’s such a worrier and I think she’ll be negative 😕. But also think she may guess as my face has gone pregnancy round and I’ve put on weight

MeganC104 · 10/04/2023 11:46

I'm keeping it off social media too. Only telling friends and family once we've had 12 week scan which is still 2 weeks away.

peonygirl · 10/04/2023 11:53

@Koalawhala I am 11weeks and haven't had my first appointment yet. It's on Friday, finally (I got in touch with the hospital when I was in my week 6 and the appointment they gave me will be nearly week 12). I have no scan booked in yet and I expect it will be in the next two weeks. I also expect to be consultant led so hopefully they will arrange for that on my app as well. The worse would be if they booked everything one after another in a rush, I feel so poorly I don't know how I'll manage many appointments.

Koalawhala · 10/04/2023 11:58

@peonygirl sorry to hear you are feeling so ill, is it pregnancy related? If so, symptoms can change so quickly and hopefully this will happen for you soon.

I think my midwife gave me a number to call if I hadn’t had a scan date booked in so it’s obviously a common thing now. It was all a lot more streamlined with my other pregnancies but I guess things have changed in the nhs.

peonygirl · 10/04/2023 12:14

@Koalawhala yes, pregnancy related. I am sick all the time, but especially in the evening. Just reading some posts here about food made me gag the other day. How can that be I don't know. Nothing smells right and I find it hard to drink and keep any food inside. It's my first pregnancy so I don't have anything to compare to. No one in my family was ever suffering from morning sickness so this is all very hard on me. I know nearly everyone on here has experienced levels of nausea but I honestly cannot do anything. I haven't been out of my flat for weeks, I am on sick leave for nearly 3 weeks and I have been this sick since week 6 so that's 5 full weeks now. And considering some here are week 14 and still sick I have little hope this will ease anytime soon.

I moved from London to North England and find NHS here very slow and not efficient at all. Sometimes I need to fight with the receptionist to get anywhere, waiting for paperwork to come through for weeks...most of tests I did so far I paid for in private clinics, incl. week 6 scan to see that I am actually pregnant :) I would book another scan but I need to travel to a different city for it and feeling the way I do...I just can't do it. I really hope I start feeling better soon.

JoanneV · 10/04/2023 12:18

@FirstTimeMamaB I was just thinking, it simultaneously feels like an age since we found out but I also can't believe its tomorrow.

@Summer022 mine is at 9am. Scan first and then have booking in bloods but they shouldn't take too long as they're going to do the rest of the appointment over the phone and then I'll meet the consultant in a couple of weeks. Well that's if everything goes well. 🤞🏻

Best of luck for everyone having their scan. We'll have to do a debrief tomorrow afternoon on how it went for us.

Koalawhala · 10/04/2023 12:31

Gosh that sounds so debilitating @peonygirl, I’m so sorry you are suffering like this. It can’t be good for your mental health to be stuck at home either. Do you have a supportive partner and family? Really hope it improves for you soon, surely it has to at some point 🤞

peonygirl · 10/04/2023 12:33

@Koalawhala well I console myself that it will be all over in October :)
I have no family and am a single parent. I have great friends though and supportive co-workers.

I promise to write a positive post once I feel better :D I feel I am always just complaining.

iloveeggs · 10/04/2023 13:18

@VictoriaBlossom Love it, we treat our dogs like out babies so I totally agree with buying the dog one!

Chanteuse · 10/04/2023 13:22

I’m gonna have to try and get in touch with the hospital for my midwife’s details - I still don’t have an appointment for my 15 week bloods (for downs screening as they couldn’t do combined) or the 16 week midwife appt. So I’m a bit concerned!

blebbleb · 10/04/2023 13:55

I have my 12 week scan on Wednesday. Quite nervous due to a missed miscarriage in December! So worried there won't be a heartbeat. I had a scan at 8 weeks and all seemed fine but that seems like an eternity ago!

MeganC104 · 10/04/2023 14:01

Car seat deal! I know a few people mentioned Joie 360. Tesco have a clubcard deal today down to £127 (I think that's what I paid) from over £200. I just raced to mine and got the last one. You can check if it's in-stock on the app. First thing I've bought for 2nd bubba and it's one of the big purchases too 😁
