I'm still in hospital and b7bs is still in place. Will be seeing the Dr about 10.00ish and hopefully I will be allowed home.
It's not clear if it's an early bid for freedom or not. Surprisingly they haven't scanned me, just monitoring.

I am jealous of the DH who got fed last night. I missed out on food. Bloody starving now waiting for breakfast. Top tip is to ask if you can have something as they won't realise if you have moved wards mid evening.

Hlc86 · 19/05/2023 10:19

@DrinkingAllTheGin oh hopefully they will allow you home soon! Surprised they haven't scan you just to check things over, how many weeks are you now? I lose track of everyone's due dates. Oh and I feel your pain, I didn't get fed on the first night I was in as didn't get put on the ward till 10pm and was offered nothing when I was on delivery suit (which is normal I think) so come breakfast time I was starving, and got greeted with cold toast 😅

firsttimelondonmummy · 19/05/2023 10:29

Hey all,
Thanks for your responses and sorry for my slow response back just feeling a bit overwhelmed by it all.
Really hoping it’s not failure to thrive.
It is all very very confusing at this point and I don’t feel we have any real plan other than to go back on the 31st.

I'm 36 weeks.
Being released this evening if no more blood. I've sent DH home so I can get some sleep.

Zaalfruit · 19/05/2023 11:39

@firsttimelondonmummy hey - I hope you are alright. Feel really bad that they aren’t giving you clear guidance. Does your trust have a midwife advocate , I find that they are really helpful with breaking all the information and presenting you with the best course of action for yourself and the baby .

My trust is so pro sweep . Feels like they shove it down your throat to get one done . They wanted to book mine in - (I’m due on the 1st of June ) I didn’t book it as I want to try and go as natural as possible . Plus everyone says it’s not worth the pain.

@Ally1992 how are you feeling now ?
@DrinkingAllTheGin I hope they gave you something to eat - how awful 😢 esp when pregnant you need to eat.

FLA92 · 19/05/2023 12:23

I just had a (approx) 1 minute long period type pain cramping… could that be braxton hicks? It stopped and hasn’t happened again but I thought BH were more the bump tightening rather than actual pain, and I didn’t think it felt any tighter.

Bit worried now as we’re meant to be going to in laws 2.5 hours away for the weekend!

skyofdiamonds · 19/05/2023 12:26

Hi all,
it’s heating up on this thread now, lots of babies imminent!

my EDD is 2/6/23 but being induced next Friday due to being so unwell with HG and PGP throughout the pregnancy.

I was offered a sweep today at 38+0 but have declined as didn’t want to be uncomfortable from it or go in to labour this weekend!

I’m going back for a sweep on Tuesday but dreading it!

I’ve suddenly started to go in to panic mode about 1. The birth and 2. Having a newborn and not having a clue what to do and not knowing how to cope with endless crying ( worst case scenario).

Any other FTMs panicking too?!

Also panicking about induction!

looking forward to hearing lovely, successful stories!

Belami · 19/05/2023 12:38

Eeeek @Ally1992 hope it's going well & you've able to dilate enough to get that epidural 🙏

@skyofdiamonds I'm feeling exactly the same , I had a little cry after my 36+5 week midwife appointment. The appointment was fine but got talking about sweeps after 39 weeks and I was saying to her that I'd heard they were painful etc and then suddenly felt really overwhelmed. How am I worried about the pain of a sweep when I have to actually give birth 🙈
Ended up crying on the way home walking past loads of people they must have thought what on earth is wrong with that pregnant lady 😅

Kelvie103 · 19/05/2023 12:55

I've been so busy this week with mostly baby stuff getting his room finished and ordering all the last bits I need to buy but have just caught up on this thread and wow alot happening! I think it's made me both excited and terrified.

I had my 34 week midwife appointment yesterday and am being sent for my first growth scan. Bump has gone from measuring 2 weeks behind, to 3 to now 5 weeks behind. Trying not to get too worried though as at my 4D scan at 29 weeks he was on the 67th percentile I think and a week ahead but I'm aware these things can change but also how inaccurate bump measurements can be!

@Ally1992 Good luck with the induction, hope it all goes smoothly and you're holding your baby soon.

@skyofdiamonds I know how you feel. I'm 35 weeks tomorrow and have only just now had a load of deliveries turn up at the same time with all the pram, car seat, cot etc and its kind of made it more real that I'm having a baby soon now the house is full of baby stuff. I'm also panicking that I won't know what to do. I've not even held a baby before since my brother was born when I was almost 6 and soon I'm supposed to look after one full time! My husband just tells me instinct will kick in and we'll just make it up as we go along so I really hope he's right.

Leaf86 · 19/05/2023 12:57

@skyofdiamonds @Belami
Feeling exactly the same. I’m 38 weeks and have a safety net c section (in lieu of induction) booked at 40+2 but was originally hoping to give birth spontaneously before then. I’m now terrified (of both options) and in denial! I’m also struggling because so uncomfortable now, my digestive system has completely given up and I have constant nausea and loose bm. Totally knackered and not sleeping well and basically regularly crying..!!!! 🙄

AstroH · 19/05/2023 13:07

Hello ladies,

Just wanted to let you know that our beautiful baby boy was born earlier this week after my waters broke in the night at 37+4. After a nervous wait, we had a lovely experience with the c section. He had a bit of jaundice and breathing trouble but nothing too serious. We massively lucked out and got a private room with an en suite which has made staying in hospital so much easier than I imagine being on the ward would be. My nipples are a bit f*cked but feeding is going okay. Hoping you all get to meet your babies soon and thank you for all of the sisterhood in this group, it’s been a real support during my pregnancy.

skyofdiamonds · 19/05/2023 13:09

So glad to hear from you all!

Yes suddenly very real and I was sobbing the other day about giving birth, no option sounds appealing and I don’t know how I’ll cope with the pain.

It’s all feeling very, very real! All the little comments from friends/ social media posts about life post delivery are terrifying me too!

Leaf86 - I’m so with you here, My GI tract has given up on life!! Although opposite to you.
I got so constipated that I ended up with an impaction last week that stopped me using my bladder and had to go to a and e for an enema!! THE most horrific thing I’ve been through, whilst also vomiting everywhere because of the HG. It’s hard to believe it’s real life looking back on it. I’m scared I’ll never be normal again 🤦🏻‍♀️

PurBal · 19/05/2023 13:10

@AstroH CONGRATULATIONS: welcome to the world little one

skyofdiamonds · 19/05/2023 13:11

Congratulations!!! Gorgeous! Are you home now? Own room sounds dreamy!

PurBal · 19/05/2023 13:16

@skyofdiamonds you’re going to be great! And no you won’t know what to do but you will have instinct. And people will say “you know your baby best” which is both true and utterly nuts. Regarding crying, look up “ICON: babies cry you can cope” if you haven’t come across it already. The “O” stands for “it’s OK to walk away” (which is the only bit I remember from last time until I was reminded by my HV this week).

AngelBlue12 · 19/05/2023 13:17

Congratulations 🥳

MrsFloraPoste · 19/05/2023 13:19

@AstroH congratulations! What a perfect little baby! 💗

so exciting that we are all nearly there now.
I cannot wait to hold a baby on the outside of me rather than continually rub my uncomfortable tummy and grumble. 🥰

C1umsyGiraffe · 19/05/2023 13:26

@AstroH Congratulations! He is absolutely beautiful, I hope you're are all doing okay! Massive congratulations 🥰

Kelvie103 · 19/05/2023 13:37

@AstroH Congratulations, he's gorgeous! Hope you're doing ok too and wishing you a swift recovery. Must have been so nice having your own room, I don't know what I'm least looking forward to, the birth or the postnatal ward!

Babybaby66 · 19/05/2023 14:25

Congratulations @AstroH - absolutely beautiful baby!

good luck to all the others going through inductions/hospital stays etc. hope they all go as smoothly as possible!!

it’s all starting to feel very real now - I’ve just started Mat leave and just realising how absolutely clueless I am about the whole thing. I’m sure I should be doing more but I can barely get off the sofa right now. My energy has totally gone.

sorry about the stress you’re going through @firsttimelondonmummy, no advice but hope you get the answers you need soon and all turns out ok!

justbelieve · 19/05/2023 14:39

Congratulations@AstroH ! Glad to hear you and baby are doing okay x

DrinkingAllTheGin · 19/05/2023 14:42

Congratulations @AstroH .

I'm awaiting discharge in a couple of hours. Bubs is staying put for a slightly longer cook.
Not really sure what caused the bleeding but no one seems worried. I have another scan booked in for after the bank holiday now.

BobbySD345 · 19/05/2023 15:04

@Belami @skyofdiamonds if it helps I had 2 sweeps with my first and they're not too bad. Just make sure you relax your body as much as you can x

BobbySD345 · 19/05/2023 15:05

@AstroH oh my gosh what a little darling ! So pleased to hear you're doing well and had a good birthing experience xx

pippabg · 19/05/2023 16:58

Congratulations @AstroH , what a beautiful baby boy!

I'm worried about being overdue and have been given the option of induction at 41 weeks or c-section at 41 weeks, but don't know what to do! Worried about baby getting distressed during induction, but also worried about the risks of c-section for me. Any advice ladies? I just know I don't want to go much beyond 41 weeks...
