@Hlc86 So glad you are home and all is well ! I've just started getting some snacks together although it's more to keep DH going. Energy drinks crisps and biscuits are in a separate bag for him along with spare tshirt and undies, phone charger, spray deo and I will put a pillow in the car for him too.
Try and stick to the bed rest as much as you can and keep us posted !
Can't believe we are going to be seeing lots of little faces on here over the next few weeks as there are some really early June dates aren't there !

DrinkingAllTheGin · 15/05/2023 13:44

Just been to the consultant and got our induction date of 5th June but been warned it could take 3 to 4 days. I'm being induced due to my age.

Been to sainsbury and got 2 sets of short button up pj's. And will do a little repacking over the next couple of days.

Bit worried my bag might be huge!

Funfamilytimes · 15/05/2023 13:49

@DrinkingAllTheGin we’ve packed two pull along suitcases. One is half full with snacks and drinks 😂
How did you go about getting your date for the induction? I’ve been told I can be induced but that’s as far as it’s gone… and am getting induced at 39 weeks 😵‍💫 (36+something atm)

BobbySD345 · 15/05/2023 13:53

@DrinkingAllTheGin I had this worry and I've thinned my case out a bit but just packed another bag to leave in the boot of the car with spares. I think it's hard to pack light ! I've packed the changing bag for baby which is a backpack style. I also plan on taking my massive maternity pillow this time lol. It'll look like I'm moving in !

Belami · 15/05/2023 13:57

@Hlc86 really good to hear you're doing well ❤️ keep us updated.

@BobbySD345 that's really good idea re the pillow for dh!

What's everyones hospital bag looking like? I've put mine and baby boys things in a suitcase and have everything labelled up in those little see through bags but feel like I'm going to look mental walking into hospital with a huge suitcase 😂 Will dh just need a change of clothes, snacks and basic toiletries?

@DrinkingAllTheGin that's really good you're all booked in now & have a date. With induction do you get a choice between that and c-section?

@dresslol all the best for tomorrow!!

I'm starting to get nervous now about when it will happen/if it will happen kick start on its own 😬 I'm such a control freak I hate the not knowing!!

Fredthespider · 15/05/2023 14:18

@Belami I’d maybe pack toothbrush and deodorant etc. for your partner and definitely their own snacks! But then have a change of clothes in the boot of the car rather than in the suitcase as they’re unlikely to need them, and I don’t believe they’ll be allowed access to the showers even if you do stay in.

Hopefully your stay will be short ☺️

DrinkingAllTheGin · 15/05/2023 14:34

I am consultant led so after my 36 week scan this morning I had a consultant appointment and wasn't really given a choice. I'm over 40 and high bmi so high risk.
I wasn't given a choice over induction or c-section. But she did say it is possible that as it's my first birth, a c-section is def still on the cards.

At my trust the go with balloon catheter induction so can take days. I have asked for epidural before the drip goes it.

BobbySD345 · 15/05/2023 15:13

@Belami is this your 1st? I went into labour naturally with our Son and you just run off adrenaline when it happens. It's actually really exciting when it starts rather than scary. That drive to the Hospital knowing you're going to meet your baby is so lovely ❤️

DH went out to the car for a nap when they said they'd come and check on me again in a couple hours and he said he wished he had a pillow so we are definitely putting one in for him this time !

We have a cabin sized hard sided case for me and a the pacapod backpack for baby. Plus a smaller black bag which has snacks and DHs spare bits. Plus the pregnancy pillow and my water bottle ... not packing light lol !

Decided I am going to go in flipflops this time. I went in trainers last time and they just got in the way as they were off as soon as I arrived.

Zaalfruit · 15/05/2023 16:05

Thank you all I got a private appointment 2mrw I can’t wait . It’s so frustrating that we can’t have proper painkillers 😫😫😫😫

( I think it’s time I got private dental - I have private health care )

@BobbySD345 I like the idea of spares - I think I should do that . Howevr until the pain goes down I can’t be bothered to do anything. I packed a cabin luggage for Ds as she will be staying with my parents . My mum thinks I’m mad - but it’s just incase .

Also I’m getting so much pressure pain - it feels like daggers down below . I really don’t feel ready to go into labour yet.

BobbySD345 · 15/05/2023 16:42

@Zaalfruit glad you got an appt! I can't imagine you do fancy doing anything at the minute with the pain.

When is your next midwife appt? She will tell you the position of baby as I felt like ours was about ready to fall out and she said she's definitely not engaged yet so she's being a madam and sitting in an awkward position it would seen. Get some rest or have an epsom salts bath?

I've also sent loads of things to my parents for DS so you're not mad packing a case at all. I've done them a nursery bag and spare outfits and allsorts. It's impossible to know what day of the week I'll go into labour so I wanted to be prepared !

rllrsk8 · 15/05/2023 16:57

@BobbySD345 I'm also just going to wear flip flops or sliders too, that I can wear around the ward and in the shower if I want to. I'm struggling to get my trainers on, anyway - they're really tight and I can't bend over to do them up easily any more!

firsttimelondonmummy · 15/05/2023 18:50

Hey all,
So we went to the hospital today and since last week he’s dropped from the 12th to the 6th centile but as last weeks scan was a private scan they won’t take any notice of it.
I’ve got to go and see fetal medicine and have another scan (waiting for them to confirm when).
Hoping he’s just a small baby like I was 🤞🏻

I think I’m in denial over here atm 🙈

My mum has taken a turn for the worse (MND) and I just can’t even think about sorting baby stuff out, it’s all in the attic. 36 weeks on Saturday.

It does feel as though she’s moved though so I’m hoping she’s not breech anymore.

AstroH · 15/05/2023 21:33

@firsttimelondonmummy hoping everything goes well with the next scan. One of my NCT group mums was induced at 37 weeks because her baby was very small and she came out perfect, fighting fit, just diddy.

tigerlily0 · 15/05/2023 21:58

I'm 37+5 probably one of the ones furthest along (original due date was June 2nd and got changed to 31st May). I still haven't packed, I feel a bit lost! Tmrw is my last day at work though so no excuses after that. Will need to pack overnight bags for my other 2 kids.

I swear I feel like this baby is about to pop out any minute iv had such pressure for over a week now.

With my last 2 babies, I think I packed fairly light, took some snacks didn't have any before cos I was so nauseous and sick, with both babies I had them in the morning and left by evening so didn't need snacks and I'm not a snacker anyway Tbf. Didn't take anything for DH either and not sure why he would need it, he can just pop home and get sorted. With my daughter my Labour went on for hours and hours and me and DH just snuggled on the birth centre sofa thing, no pillow needed.

tigerlily0 · 15/05/2023 22:00

@firsttimelondonmummy - hope it all goes well, try not to worry. I have 2 friends who have very small babies and they have had natural births and the kids are thriving. Xx

dresslol · 15/05/2023 22:31

@firsttimelondonmummy wishing you the best of luck with your scan, hope bubba is just a dainty baby and hope you’re not too stressed in the meantime x x

@tigerlily0 I thought I was running late with the whole bag packing, feeling ready thing, but I’m not due till the 9th. You need to get packing! I can’t tell whether I’m cutting it fine or will be sat starting at a packed bag for many days after my due date waiting for baby to decide to come.

@AngelBlue12 sorry to hear about your mum, that must be really stressful. Are you considering an ECV to turn your breech baby or is that not for you?

tigerlily0 · 15/05/2023 22:37

@dresslol I know! I have pretty much everything I need for the bag apart from pads and disposable underwear. I'm probably just in denial. I get a bit scared sometimes when I feel extra pressure down there and I'm like oh crap I'm not ready!

DrinkingAllTheGin · 15/05/2023 22:48

Packing your bag will help your stress levels.

I've repacked today. Based on the estimate of 3-4 days in hospital.

firsttimelondonmummy · 16/05/2023 00:49

Thanks @AstroH , @tigerlily0 , @dresslol
Hoping he is just small but healthy 🤞🏻
Mum said small babies run in the family but they never had growth scans back then so no one flagged it.
Just praying that’s all it is and that he’s just taking after the rest of us.
My partner was only a 7lb baby and two weeks late and I was a 5lb and 3 weeks early. 🤞🏻 it’s just that and trying not to freak out too much.

AngelBlue12 · 16/05/2023 07:06

@dresslol I will give it a go, I had one last time as DD decided to turn whilst in hospital waiting to be induced 🤦🏻‍♀️ so they turned her and then held her in place whilst they broke my waters!

Hlc86 · 16/05/2023 10:08

@AngelBlue12 sorry to hear about your mum, I'm wishing her and your family the very best.

@firsttimelondonmummy it's so annoying they don't take notice of the private scans and really unprofessional I think!, hopefully bubs is just on the small side and like you say if small babies run in the family try not to worry to much (easier said I know) I was 6lb10 and a week late and my other half was 1 week early and 5lb 8 so small babies run on our side too, plus both me and you have naturally small frames so that's a big factor I always think they should take into account but they never do, aslong as flow to the cord and fluid is OK try not to worry x

tigerlily0 · 16/05/2023 15:05

Just coming on to say I will officially be on Mat leave at 5pmGrin. Finding it so uncomfortable to sit in my chair now and want to constantly nap. I literally can't wait, and will hopefully start packing my hospital bag and getting things sorted..... at a very slow pace lolll. Anyone else on mat leave soon?

DrinkingAllTheGin · 16/05/2023 15:12

Started mine on Friday, although this week is technically holiday.
I am stuffing my face with cheese & biscuits and jaffa cakes!
My office chair became a torchure device by the end!

tigerlily0 · 16/05/2023 15:25

Yea I booked couple days annual leave as I'd just had enough now. Had a lovely goodbye teams meeting with the team. Got a long list of things I need to get tmrw and hopefully do some batch cooking.
