Mine hasn't mentioned it yet - I'll ask about it at my next appointment as I'd want to get it too. Had covid twice and luckily felt fine both times (felt like a bad cold) but don't want to take any chances

C1umsyGiraffe · 27/04/2023 14:57

I also have been allocated a midwife but I haven't actually met her! Had a different midwife which is fine but frustrating when I hear about other people having their midwife's contact details on WhatsApp!

Hlc86 · 27/04/2023 15:19

@ireneadler101 I haven't been offered it yet but I doubt I will have it, it doesn't stop you for getting it and have now had covid 3 times whilst pregnant (I've had the first 3 jabs but didn't get the last booster and didn't get the flu booster) I've had the whopping cough vaccine though, but you do what's right for you as only you can make that decision 😊.

Re differant midwives, for the first few appointments I had the same one but she was useless and I really didn't like her manner at all, but the last 2 appointments I've had a much younger midwife and she is lovely and goes through everything in alot more detail and I feel comfortable to ask questions, whereas the first midwife would seem annoyed if I asked anything, so I'm hoping the next time I go which is the 11th of May it will be the younger one 😅

firsttimelondonmummy · 27/04/2023 17:32

@Hlc86 I’m the same as you and won’t be having it.
I got Covid worse after my first two jabs than I did without a jab.

@ireneadler101 I had flu and whooping but won’t be having Covid and I could tell my midwife wasn’t awfully pro them either said she understands why I was hesitant given the lack of research/ time and won’t be pushing me to have it.
I had a new midwife since and she hasn’t mentioned a word about Covid jabs either just asked if I had my flu and whooping.

Im giving birth out of my catchment area. So I have to go to the hospital for every appointment and see who is available then. It’s no bother until I have a question. But would rather give birth at this hospital than the one where I live so it makes it worth it 😁

Zaalfruit · 27/04/2023 21:22

Ooh no one’s brought up about the covid jab. I doubt I will get it done as the vaccine made my arms hurt so much last time so that’s a deterrent for me.

Kelvie103 · 27/04/2023 21:59

I didn't even know there was another covid booster going. I had my initial 3 but didn't bother with the autumn booster as I just never got round to it and (touchwood) have never had covid despite being around people with it in the past so probably won't bother this time either. Didn't have the flu jab either as I didn't want anything before 12 weeks and then thought it was a bit late in the season to bother.

My midwife is lovely, I see the same one at the gp but different ones if I go to the hospital which is annoying having to go through everything again and again. My midwife gets fully booked at the gp really quickly so have to go to the hospital if she is. I dont have any contact details though, where I am we just phone the day assessment unit if we have a problem. Would be nice to be able to speak to my midwife if I needed though.

BellaTheDarkOverlord · 27/04/2023 22:51

Health visitor rang me today to book appointment. Said she'll book me in for next Wednesday between 10 and 1. I said can you come a bit later than 1 as I'm usually at hospital until after 1 with DD. She was like What??? You've had baby? 😂she said it for a pre birth appointment to meet us before dd is born. 4 weeks too late much!

AngelBlue12 · 28/04/2023 04:24

@BellaTheDarkOverlord that’s hilarious 😆😆

toomanysausages · 28/04/2023 08:54

Oooo I have asked to join the FB group!
@Zaalfruit I have a growth scan today as have been in three times with reduced movements now. Of course baby is wide awake this morningHmm Have you been in for reduced movements before?

@BellaTheDarkOverlord that's so funny! Hope baby girl is doing well! Had you chosen a name for her before she was born? I wondered this but forgot to ask Grin

tigerlily0 · 28/04/2023 12:09

There is already a June 2023 fb grp

BellaTheDarkOverlord · 28/04/2023 13:03

@AngelBlue12 @toomanysausages I know! So weird. Midwife rang today and asked when DD was coming home. I said not for maybe another 3-4 weeks. She acted like I was being unreasonable for her not coming home yet. Really strange tbh. Not like I'm purposefully keeping DD away from them. I said they can meet me in hospital 😂We've named her Jasmine. It's a bit different but DH loves it.

Babybaby66 · 28/04/2023 15:49

@BellaTheDarkOverlord lovely name choice! 💕

C1umsyGiraffe · 28/04/2023 15:58

@BellaTheDarkOverlord it's a beautiful name! That's hilarious about the health visitor!

rllrsk8 · 28/04/2023 17:44

@tigerlily0 could you please let me know the name of the Facebook group? I've been looking for it but not sure if I've found the right one! Thanks

DrinkingAllTheGin · 28/04/2023 17:46

We have our NCT tomorrow. Has anyone already done it? How was it, and what did you take with you?

tigerlily0 · 28/04/2023 18:23

I don't know how to share the link from the app but it looks like this

rllrsk8 · 28/04/2023 18:46

Thanks @tigerlily0, I'm not sure how to find it, I am searching for it but no luck so far! Will keep trying

theblueflowers · 28/04/2023 19:45

@DrinkingAllTheGin we had our first session on Tuesday. Made it feel very real!
I just brought some water, there was a break with tea/coffee and biscuits.

Our chairs were super uncomfortable and our instructor suggested next time we bring birthing balls but I can't imagine just rocking up with a giant ball 😂

There was a lot of information, with many awkward ice breaking activities, but all useful stuff.

Kelvie103 · 28/04/2023 20:02

@DrinkingAllTheGin we just had our last nct session yesterday. Overall it was good but I was expecting a bit more on how to look after baby. First 3 sessions were all about labour, then we had one on parenting with only about an hour covering things like bathing, safe sleep and nappy changing then the last session was on breast and bottle feeding which I found the most useful. I only took a notebook and pen with me and a drink.

We had to make a baby out of a towel and rubber bands and bring a nappy for the nappy changing but it was so quick I didn't find it that useful. Our instructor was great to listen to though.

We didn't have any awkward activities, it was mostly just discuss a topic with the couple next to you and make sure you pick a different seat each session so you get to talk to different people for us. All the couples seem really nice though and it is nice having the whatsapp group to talk baby stuff.

AngelBlue12 · 28/04/2023 21:58

If you pm me your name I can sendup an invite

PurBal · 29/04/2023 06:10

@BellaTheDarkOverlord lovely name

Never seen the same midwife twice, I don’t mind though as they’re all so young it feels like I’m walking into a sixth form centre whenever I go for an appointment. (I know they’re all older but seem to have a glut of newly qualified staff in my area).

Not offered COVID jab but pretty sure I currently have COVID anyway.

Sali83 · 29/04/2023 06:20

Covid booster jabs are no longer offered /available for pregnant woman (since the end of February 2023) There is a new spring booster program, but it's for older people and immune suppressed.
