Does anyone else feel like this is suddenly going so quickly?!

I’m really torn about maternity leave. I’ve handed over all of my
projects now which was pretty hard and I’ve no idea how I’ll feel not having emails/teams messages to constantly check. I know things will just change and my priorities will shift but this job has been all encompassing for years so it will be so weird for it to not be the first thing I think about in the morning!

I’m pretty lucky in that my boyfriend is also taking a bit of time
off throughout maternity leave (about 3 months over the year) so that will hopefully ease any loneliness as he will be pretty involved…

Dewintergarden · 25/04/2023 18:12

@Babybaby66 I agree, I feel like it has flown by. The last couple of weeks I've felt a bit bleurgh but now I'm so tearful thinking I am only going to be pregnant for another 6 weeks and how much I've loved growing my baby girl even with the nausea/heartburn/pgp/anxiety. I know I will love it even more when she's here, but I genuinely just feel so lucky to have had this experience which I thought for a long time may not have been possible.

DrinkingAllTheGin · 25/04/2023 20:05

I'm struggling this evening. Got very low ache, feels like bubs is kicking me in the vajayjay and ribs at the same time! DH has just suggested a takeaway for dinner. I know why I love him!

BobbySD345 · 25/04/2023 20:46

@firsttimelondonmummy It's actually really easy to travel by car for example at some distance when they're tiny. They sleep ALOT and they might fuss for milk or a nappy change but that can all be done with ease in the car or at services! It's when they're older that travelling is a right headache lol.

Hiya all ! Yesterday at work I highlighted how much the stress of work was making my pregnancy feels tonnes harder so I decided to start maternity leave from the 9th of May .

I also have proper mum guilt - I want to spend a little time with the toddler as I feel like I have really neglected her over the last few months because of my sickness - vomiting , gum swelling ,migraines .

I really hope I can balance out having two - not sure if I have mentioned it before but the husband works between London, Scotland and Chicago - so let’s see how I raise the two 😂 I have also decided to take a year off for maternity leave as I assume this is my last pregnancy!

In terms of baby shower I didn’t have one - but we did do meet the bump at a paint and sip event in London . ( I wasn’t drinking but everyone else was ) The rule was no gifts! Just bring yourself and say hello to bump ! It was so much fun.

Givealittlebit · 26/04/2023 09:22

Right it's been mentioned a fair bit now so I've gone for it and set up a Facebook group!
Link below, have set it to private so people can't find it accidentally 😊

@ireneadler101 thanks so much for taking the time to respond.
It was super helpful thank you and I think I will try and make more trips up north so that I can go and hang out with my friends who have little ones.
We did bump and baby but I didn’t feel like there’s anyone I naturally would hang out with and I didn’t want to force it.
Also with us wanting to move up north I didn’t see much point in forging new friendships down here.
But your response made me feel a lot better about not wanting to be a SAHM.
I heard the peanut app is good for making friends but not used it personally given the reasons above.

@BobbySD345 ooo that’s great to hear!
Hopefully lots of trips back up north then 🤞🏻

@Givealittlebit thanks! I have joined the group 😁👋🏻

@firsttimelondonmummy I'm on the Peanut app and it's been good so far - not met up with anyone yet but I plan to once baby arrives!

AngelBlue12 · 26/04/2023 12:59

@Givealittlebit thanks, I’ve asked to join too 🙂

BobbySD345 · 26/04/2023 13:58

@Zaalfruit aww sounds like you've made the right decision! We are doing some day trips with our little boy too as I feel like soon all the focus will be on the new baby. My DH is going to take a couple days off to do some zoo trips or something and make it all about him x

BobbySD345 · 26/04/2023 13:59

Does anyone know how to use that FB link within the FB app? When i click it from this group it opens in my Internet browser and I can't for the life of me remember mt log in details !

Hlc86 · 26/04/2023 14:32

@Givealittlebit thank you I have requested to join

Zaalfruit · 26/04/2023 15:27

Thank you ! I have requested to join . @BobbySD345 took me ages to log in . I only used it for my other fb group from here. I don’t really use fb 😂😂

I you really feel happier that the 5th is my last day at work. Literally falling asleep on my work desk .

BobbySD345 · 26/04/2023 15:38

Feels really weird that it's my last day today. Everyone keeps saying awww not long to go ! In reply I'm having to say there may still be quite a while, I don't look it but I'm only 32 weeks haha.

Hey all just going classes on breastfeeding and was wondering does anyone have any recommendations on vit d drops ?

Ally1992 · 26/04/2023 16:54

I finish work next Friday and will be 35 weeks , then I’ll only have 2-3 more weeks before I get induced 😬. Going off of what other people have said I am worried about being bored or lonely as well, my family live 45 minutes away so it’s not that easy to pop round somewhere etc. think I will try the peanut app, the health visitor recommended it yesterday as well 😊

BobbySD345 · 26/04/2023 19:22

Has anyone been allocated an actual midwife? As in, one midwife you see regularly and have the name and contact details for ? The Trust I am under are so useless. I never saw the same person twice with my 1st and it's same this time round. There's no way of getting hold of anyone. You ring the community midwife "unit" and they either never answer the phone or you get a rude receptionist who promises "a midwife" will call you back and they never do.
I was due to see one at my GP surgery Monday and she cancelled and I have heard nothing since. My friend who lives elsewhere had her midwife on WhatsApp and it was always the same person throughout.

Givealittlebit · 26/04/2023 19:40

I had a different midwife everytime with my first! Apparently mine was on long term sick so I always just had whoever.
Had the same for most of my second and have had a different one, but the same each time so far with baby number 3!
This one's the nicest 😂 pretty sure it just depends on area/trust though. There's only 2 community midwife's working out my go surgery so you get allocated one or the other

DrinkingAllTheGin · 26/04/2023 19:54

I have one community midwife and most of my appointments have been with her, but she doesn't work school holidays so had a few others cover her from the wider team.

Zaalfruit · 27/04/2023 06:38

@BobbySD345 I have never seen the same person twice ! I always have to repeat my long list of ailments and concerns it’s very frustrating. I really understand how you feel. Also loving the set up from work .

( I went into hospital for reduced movements - stayed there for 6 hours on a monitor. They aren’t 100 percent happy so got a scan on Friday - literally the last few weeks she has been moving like crazy to the point where it makes me feel sea sick but since last week Friday she just been so sluggish )

ireneadler101 · 27/04/2023 14:14

Has anyone else's midwife recommended getting the covid spring booster jab? Mine has and I'm going to get it this afternoon as I don't want to get covid in the last few weeks of my pregnancy (had it last year and I felt bloody awful) but haven't seen much online about it and wondered if it was being widely recommended to pregnant women? Appreciate not everyone will be comfortable getting the jab and that's absolutely fine - am not intending on highjacking this thread with a discussion about the pros and cons of covid jabs - just wondering if anyone else had discussed it with their midwives?

AngelBlue12 · 27/04/2023 14:47

I had a fourth jab in December, what with being pregnant as my DH being immunocompromised I really want to minimise the risks as much as possible.

Fredthespider · 27/04/2023 14:50

@ireneadler101 my midwife recommended it to me too, and said the optimal time to get it is third trimester ☺️
