Thanks @AngelBlue12, will do!

I've seen the same midwife all the way through, other than for my booking appointment. Which has been good, it's nice to know who you will see. So far (touch wood) I've had a pretty straightforward pregnancy but if it had not have been I think I'd have appreciated the consistency even more.

I can walk to my local hospital antenatal unit for scans and my GP surgery is there too (which is where my midwife appointments have been) but can't give birth there which is a shame.

Fredthespider · 29/04/2023 09:37

@Sali83 you’re right! How weird that my midwife offered me it last week. I guess that takes away the dilemma of whether I want it or not.

toomanysausages · 29/04/2023 12:46

Lovely name @BellaTheDarkOverlord

I had my growth scan yesterday. Both sonographer and the midwife who looked at the scan results mentioned baby had short femur measurements. Midwife said she is a smaller baby but they aren't worried as everything looks fine. I'm 5'1 and DH is 5'7 so we probably aren't going to produce enormous people but have been doing too much googling yesterday and today 😬

firsttimelondonmummy · 29/04/2023 16:44

@toomanysausages I would try not to worry (easier said than done I know)
I am 5’5 nearly 5’6 and my partner is 6’0 and we were told our little man’s femur is measuring short compared to everything else.
Wasn’t flagged as worrying.
These measurements can be so inaccurate and change constantly throughout pregnancy ❤️

@toomanysausages i really wouldn’t worry to much about it . In my last pregnancy they flapped about saying tiny baby tiny baby out came my daughter at 6lbs and now at 2 years old the same all her peers . i find growth scans aren’t a that accurate . Currently this baby is measuring at 6 and half pounds already bigger than my last baby and they are estimating she will pop out at 9lbs if I go to term ( which is scary )

Givealittlebit · 30/04/2023 06:30

I love the estimated weights they give, I swear they pluck them out of thin air sometimes 😂

AngelBlue12 · 30/04/2023 08:55

I was told baby 2 was going to be tiny about 5lbs, she was 10lb10ozs lol

Funfamilytimes · 30/04/2023 09:03

@Zaalfruit the head size doesn’t change THAT much and if they are bigger they have more about them to with stand birth! 🤭 that’s why I keep telling myself 😂

Covid booster jabs are no longer offered /available for pregnant woman (since the end of February 2023) There is a new spring booster program, but it's for older people and immune suppressed.

Hi,

I've had mine and midwife and pharmacist confirmed that we are eligible as we fall within the immunocompromised group. GP wouldn't do it though as they are only doing older people and certain categories. My midwife told me to book it using the NHS website which I did, and when I went for the jab I checked with pharmacist and he confirmed we do qualify. Just in case anyone else was wanting to get it.

I work in vaccinations and this is absolutely not true. Pregnant women are not included in this round of spring boosters unless they have a specific illness or medication that means they are individually eligible. This has been interpreted wrong by the midwife/ pharmacist

ireneadler101 · 30/04/2023 16:36

The advice out there on this is very confusing but when you look at the government guidance (www.england.nhs.uk/long-read/preparing-for-a-successful-spring-2023-covid-19-booster-campaign/) pregnant women do fall within the definition of immunosuppressed (Green Book Table 3).

I'm not an expert and may be wrong but I'm trusting and hoping that the research I've done plus my midwife and pharmacist aren't wrong! I don't understand why there isn't clear guidance on this though, you would have thought it would be pretty straightforward! This is why I mentioned it originally, as I was interested to know what others had been told given the lack of clear guidance online.

firsttimelondonmummy · 30/04/2023 20:00

@ireneadler101 it’s not clear because it’s all so new and guidelines are still being changed monthly.
The WHO has now said anyone under 17 that isn’t high risk doesn’t need vaccinating at all and that for this group, "traditional essential vaccines" for illnesses like rotavirus, measles, polio and pneumococcal conjugate have a greater impact.
I personally won’t be having a booster during pregnancy (I had the vaccine twice before pregnancy and ended up with Covid worse after my jabs than pre 🤦🏻‍♀️).
My main reason however is that I’m personally not comfortable with the lack of long term research around the effect on babies whose mums had the jab during pregnancy.
My midwife was pretty much in the same camp if I’m honest.
Said about no long term studies being available and so completely understanding of my decision.
However let me be clear I am not judging anyone that chooses to vaccinate/ have a booster during pregnancy, this is simply my own call and I respect whatever call you make for your own body and baby! ❤️🙏🏻

I agree it's very confusing, but the tables in the green book are showing all the clinical risk groups not specifically immunosuppression and are talking about the covid vaccine programme as a whole, not the current booster programme. I can see how it can be muddled, but there is no blanket invitation for pregnant women in this booster campaign (I have been in meetings which involve the people who write these guidelines and this is what they have said !) And we do feedback how confusing it gets x

Zaalfruit · 30/04/2023 23:40

@AngelBlue12 omg that must have been such a surprise !! How did they get it so off 😂😂😂

I am having so much pain with every roll the baby does and every kick it’s making me so nauseous. I know it’s scary when she doesn’t do it. However it’s so creepy watching my belly just vibrate and move 😂😂😂

justbelieve · 02/05/2023 08:22

Is anyone else’s baby still breech? What are some things you’ve heard help baby move? I’m 32+5, so still have some time for him to move, but it’s making me nervous!

Mistymeow · 02/05/2023 08:42

@justbelieve my baby is still transverse at 33 weeks arrgh. Still plenty of time to move though. The spinning babies website is good although I couldn’t get it to work for my first, who was “using my womb like its own personal swimming pool” as one consultant described it! https://www.spinningbabies.com/

AngelBlue12 · 02/05/2023 11:48

@justbelieve 🙋🏻‍♀️me, nothing is shifting her 🙈

Zaalfruit · 02/05/2023 12:08

@Mistymeow my last pregnancy baby was breech drove me nuts. they did the Manuel turn this time I have been bouncing and bouncing and she’s in position!!

Babybaby66 · 02/05/2023 13:37

@justbelieve same here 🙋🏼‍♀️ still breech at almost 35 weeks so the chance of turning is Getting less and less - trying not to stress too much about it.

im trying some of the spinning babies stuff but nothing seems to be working!

Kelvie103 · 03/05/2023 10:45

What do movements feel like if baby is breech? Mine has been head down since at least 25 weeks and I've always felt movements high up by my belly button and above. Had my 32 week midwife appointment yesterday morning and it was the same, head down and high movements. But since last night all the movements have been very low and I've felt nothing at all high up. Also started getting lower back pain and period type aches which I've not had before. Does this mean he's moved to breech? I'm a bit worried as he's not been moving as much as normal too since last night but don't know if I should phone or not as I have felt him move, just not as much.

AngelBlue12 · 03/05/2023 13:11

@Kelvie103 change in movement is always a valid reason to get checked out.

@Babybaby66 my last pregnancy she was breech until 38 weeks when she turned. Then went in to be induced at 40 weeks and she turned back to breech whilst we were on the ward 🙈

BobbySD345 · 03/05/2023 13:50

To all those saying baby is breech is this because you have seen the midwife recently and she was able to tell from feeling your tummy? I was due to see mine on 24th April and she cancelled and I'm not in again til 11th May. I did attend labour triage over the weekend though as I had some weird discharge like the mucus plug and braxton hicks have been constant since Saturday but they did lots of tests and there's no sign of preterm labour 🤞🏻 I've just been told to rest and wait to see midwife on 11th. They didn't feel my tummy or tell me position of the baby and I am also worrying about growth because of how big I am and they didn't do a scan. They checked heartbeat and any signs of pre term labour.

In other news, I have started on my hospital bag. Babies has been packed for a couple of weeks but I need a primark trip before mine is finished! I'm taking pj bottoms and strappy tops this time as I was so hot. Plus maybe a thin dressing gown or cardi to throw over.

BobbySD345 · 03/05/2023 13:51

@Kelvie103 I'm sure everything is fine but if you have any change or decrease in movements you should go to the ward for monitoring xx

DrinkingAllTheGin · 03/05/2023 15:27

34 + 2 today and its my birthday today. Funny to think this is my last one without bubs.
Last check baby was transverse. Hoping they have moved but open to a c-section if needed. I have a check up tomorrow so fingers crossed.

Funfamilytimes · 03/05/2023 15:32

@DrinkingAllTheGin happy birthday! A brilliant day for it ☀️
