@Babybaby66 @PurBal as a FTM, the whole nursery waiting list was crazy to me ar first, but of course it was a whole world I was unaware of! We are outside of London, but have had to put baby boy on the waiting list for two different nurseries! I think you're completely right that it's only going to get worse with the introduction of free childcare, like where is the capacity? Surely, they'll have to raise wages to keep/recruit more staff, but not sure government funding would cover this.

Babybaby66 · 14/04/2023 16:03

@pippabg @PurBal thanks for the nursery responses - it’s. A crazy world isn’t it! As I was leaving the tour they said ‘lock in a date as soon as you can as we are really in demand’! Such a commitment at this really early stage. They can also only offer me 3 days a week, I had roughly planned for my mum to have her for a day and then maybe go back 4 days but putting all of that in place this early seems mental!

I think it will just get worse though so at least I’ll have something booked in!! This is the last thing i thought id be stressing about at 32 weeks!! Have barely thought about giving birth but do have a nursery place 😂😂

PurBal · 14/04/2023 16:10

@pippabg theres a lot of work to make it fit for purpose. @Babybaby66 its definitely worse this time round. Just had to give 4 months notice for DS!

Zaalfruit · 14/04/2023 16:10

Nursery waiting lists are crazy my toddler has been waiting since July last year for a slot . I’m based Essex east London borders 😫😫😫

Been refused slots for the unborn one - I don’t know how I will manage life !

FLA92 · 14/04/2023 16:29

If anyone’s using bottles, which are you going for? I’ve heard that midwives recommend the MAM ones so was going for those but I’ve been reading reviews and a few say that they leak / the silicone can smell… not sure if anyone has any experience?!

Otherwise I’m looking at the Nuk ones which aren’t self-sterilising (which is fine).

BobbySD345 · 14/04/2023 19:41

@FLA92 We have bought some tommee tippee this time round but no lie we must have tried every bloody brand with DS before we found one that suited so we do have a range of bottles up the loft that just need new teats. The MAM are good as you can sterlise them but I found all the bits and the seal fiddly. Our DS liked Avent best when he was small and as he got bigger he took to Tommee Tippee and NUK.

PurBal · 14/04/2023 20:37

@FLA92 no personal experience but a nanny friend recommend Dr Browns.
@Zaalfruit good luck

BellaTheDarkOverlord · 15/04/2023 12:22

Hope everyone is doing ok and looking forward to babies arrival. Not long now!

DD is now 2 weeks old (32 weeks tomorrow). She's doing great. Only has a feeding tube in. She's a little devil though and pulls it out constantly. Nurses have to swaddle her mostly to trap her hands 😁

This is her butter wouldn't melt look.

Oh just look at her! So glad she’s doing well and I hope you’re recovering ok too @BellaTheDarkOverlord

DrinkingAllTheGin · 15/04/2023 12:29

Oh @BellaTheDarkOverlord she is adorable.
Looks like she is gaining weight well.
How are you doing?

Dewintergarden · 15/04/2023 13:08

@BellaTheDarkOverlord oh how beautiful! Like others have asked I hope you're recovering well and managing to get some rest.

PurBal · 15/04/2023 14:44

@BellaTheDarkOverlord beautiful! How are you doing?

pippabg · 15/04/2023 15:27

She looks gorgeous and healthy! Hope you're doing okay!

BellaTheDarkOverlord · 15/04/2023 16:29

I'm doing good thanks! Still can't manage to achieve let down with breast milk but I'm hoping to keep going another 2 weeks and maybe she'd can feed then properly. Really time consuming though as I'm expressing every two hours.

She hasn't gained her birth weight back after 2 weeks. Doctor now thinks she's been measured incorrectly at birth and instead of 3.1lb, she may have been much smaller. They said she's gaining weight well though so they are not worried.

Hlc86 · 15/04/2023 16:31

Oh she is so gorgeous 😍 I'm so pleased she is doing well and I hope you are too 😘

dresslol · 15/04/2023 16:46

@BellaTheDarkOverlord what an absolutely gorgeous little face, hope you are feeling ok. Thanks for the update, thinking of you often, she looks amazing

Babybaby66 · 15/04/2023 18:03

ImHopeful2023 · 15/04/2023 18:33

Belami · 15/04/2023 20:11

Aww @BellaTheDarkOverlord , her little face is so adorable 🥰 so pleased to hear you're both doing well.

C1umsyGiraffe · 15/04/2023 21:05

Aw @BellaTheDarkOverlord thank you for sharing! She is absolutely beautiful! Glad she is doing well, hope you are too!

toomanysausages · 15/04/2023 22:48

@BellaTheDarkOverlord lovely update and glad it sounds like you're both doing well! Gorgeous photo!

I went to the cinema yesterday and baby was sleeping until.. there was a loud bang on the screen and it must have made her jump! Such a strange sensation but she did have a wriggle around afterwards so I think she was okay. I think I've startled her before a few weeks ago when I did an enormous sneeze too 🤣

Also top Amazon tip If you are buying any baby stuff via the platform.
Save the items you are buying to an official Amazon baby wish list then when you are ready to purchase pop them in your basket and use the discount code LIST15 (if a prime member) or LIST10 (if not a member) for 15% or 10% off.
I got a fair chunk of money off my Nanit pro using this and it works on multiple occasions for a range of items.
p.s for some reason it says it can not be applied every time but then applies anyway 😂

Hope this is helpful! 😊

@firsttimelondonmummy thanks for this. I've tried it this morning but it doesn't work, is there a minimum amount you are required to spend? Also, did you get the free nappy bin with it? It says you do when you create a baby wishlist but this didn't come through either. Thanks!

C1umsyGiraffe · 16/04/2023 09:44

@Dewintergarden I've tried it as well and you have to put at least £200 in your basket, so saving a few things and going to buy them together :)

Dewintergarden · 16/04/2023 10:23

@C1umsyGiraffe thank you, I've realised my mistake I've put items that aren't in the baby section but are baby related (maternity Nightwear) so I have added some other things and I think it's worked but I'm a bit confused so I need to work it out when I've woken up properly. I've definitely managed to get the nappy bin with the code GIFT21 which was £20 and min spend is £20 for it which is good if you don't want to spend the full £200.

firsttimelondonmummy · 16/04/2023 11:13

Sorry all yes I forgot to mention this is +£200 (but noticed this is easy to do with a few baby things so just been saving things up)
