@positivethoughts1 I've just ordered one to rent from birth-ease. I'm really hoping it'll work as I want to avoid an epidural if I can but open to the idea, aware my pain threshold isn't great 😂

tigerlily0 · 13/04/2023 11:25

Has anyone bought cot and drawers/ changer set they can recommend? I bought a mamas and papas one which was great for both my kids but sold it on as they grew up. So many out there now not sure what's good and what's not. Was going to get only a chest of drawers as baby won't be in cot for a while and the room is where I wfh and have a desk. But actually we can fit cot and drawers even whilst the desk is in here so may aswell get them together

Belami · 13/04/2023 12:10

@DrinkingAllTheGin same!! I've tried having a bath, bananas .. went to the chemist to ask if they had anything to help but they didn't :( I can cope with it when it's once or twice a week but getting it everyday is doing my bloody head in lol.

@AngelBlue12 ooo no, never heard of that. When does he drink it/how much does he drink to help it?

Funfamilytimes · 13/04/2023 12:46

I’ve been really looking into tens machines. I’m going to rent one from the hospital though.
I watched this birth video on YouTube the other day where a woman was using a tens machine and hypnobirthing techniques and it really did look inspiring. She said the machine definitely helped her.
I didn’t dilate in Labour so couldn’t have pain relief as I wasn’t considered in “active labour” so been trying to find lots of positive things to help with pain 😬

AngelBlue12 · 13/04/2023 12:49

@Belami He normally has a pint glass with dinner. It’s the quinine that is helpful.

Dewintergarden · 13/04/2023 13:40

I've heard tonic water should be avoided in pregnancy, but is suggested for cramps usually if not pregnant.

Whentwobecomesthree · 13/04/2023 13:58

Tonic is one of those odd ones that are advised against in some countries and not in others. I think Germany says not to have it. So confusing how it's different everywhere

BobbySD345 · 13/04/2023 14:10

@Belami Me !! I can't sit on the sofa downstairs past about 8pm as they're terrible once I'm getting tired. I end up having to go to bed !

firsttimelondonmummy · 13/04/2023 16:05

Hey All,
Just dropping another bargain on for potential baby swing shoppers.
Munchkin baby swing usually £214.99 is 20% off at Boots plus add the code APRIL10 at checkout and it gives you a further 10% off taking a total of £60 off the original price 😊

So I've finally sorted out my maternity leave I'm going to go on leave on the 16th of June taking the first week as holiday then have my maternity pay start from my due date the 23rd it all seems so real now, I have everything I need just need to get some big crappy knickers from primark for the hospital bag then I'm done, it's scary how quickly it's all going

firsttimelondonmummy · 13/04/2023 16:11

Also top Amazon tip If you are buying any baby stuff via the platform.
Save the items you are buying to an official Amazon baby wish list then when you are ready to purchase pop them in your basket and use the discount code LIST15 (if a prime member) or LIST10 (if not a member) for 15% or 10% off.
I got a fair chunk of money off my Nanit pro using this and it works on multiple occasions for a range of items.
p.s for some reason it says it can not be applied every time but then applies anyway 😂

Hope this is helpful! 😊

Hey all! Haven’t posted much on here as keep using our FB group instead.
I’m 33 weeks tomorrow due 2nd June and first pregnancy.
I’m struggling at the moment.

I had severe hyperemesis at the start (3 weeks in hospital, 10 kg weight loss, steroids etc etc) which is much improved from the darkest of days to now just taking anti emetics every morning or vomiting immediately but I can and do eat mostly normally with vomiting around 4 times a week occasionally at random times (I have to carry sick bags with me everywhere!)

I’ve now got really debilitating sacroiliac pain which has gradually gotten worse. I’m at the point of being unable to do anything like bend down, any sort of sport/ physical effort, I can’t move my right leg away from my body with ease so getting in/out of bed/car/sofa is painful.

The worst bit is that I can’t clean my house as I can’t bend down or be on the floor and now I’m just so stressed at how completely useless I am and that there’s so much to do to have the house ready 😭
this

I just can’t believe how much this pregnancy has physically affected me. I’m usually a fit and healthy person with nothing underlying.
I still am a low risk primip pregnancy which is great I suppose, as I managed to get off the steroids early ish and everything has been straight forward with bloods etc etc. etc

Is anyone having sacroiliac pain? Any help would be great!
Ive just bought a serola belt, spend every evening in the bath, use a TENS machine and occasionally co codamol if I’m desperate.

BobbySD345 · 13/04/2023 17:26

If anyone is looking for a backpack style changing bag, it looks like Aldi have 2 versions on sale for their baby event! I also saw they had a nuby rapidcool offer on the double flask bundle x

BobbySD345 · 13/04/2023 17:53

Made a start on the Hospital bag today. Babies bag first! Decided I'm not over packing and will do a top-up bag to keep in the boot of the car with spare nappies and clothes for if we are in longer than needed. Also saw somewhere, can't remember if it was here or tiktok, someone suggested leaving our going home outfits and blanket in the car seat for DH to bring in just as we are getting discharged. Saves space in the suitcase I suppose. Tempted to go home in PJs and flipflops this time round being honest !!

@BobbySD345 is it weird I’m obsessed with your handwriting? 😂
I bought the labelled ones solely because I hate my handwriting 🤣

Had a midwife check up today and bubs is transverse across the top.of my bump and boy can I tell! I think they are doing star jumps and hitting me both left and right at the same time!

Whilst checking out tonic water in pregnancy, I was distressed to read that Mr whippy is off the menu too! Heart broken!

Hoppyhops · 13/04/2023 21:23

Hello, I’ve been lurking on these threads for a while but never felt like it was ‘real’ enough to join so I hope it’s ok to join in now 😄 I’m due 26th June and we haven’t found out if we’re having a boy or a girl.

I’ve bought things as time has gone on but I’m yet to get myself organised to start a hospital bag or anything so it’s great to see some ideas here. @BobbySD345 can I be cheeky and ask where you got your zip bags from, please? I’m happy to just write on mine but want to get ones big enough.

Also, if anyone’s interested, Aldi have a baby event on at the moment- they have Doona prams, Tommee tippee bottles, dummies etc. and Nuby items. I picked up a lovely Nuby play mat and they had some good changing rucksacks with insulated pockets and changing mats too. I think lots of items have sold out online but there were plenty in store this morning.

BobbySD345 · 13/04/2023 21:45

@Hoppyhops they're off Amazon. Bargain! I also got some medium sharpies off there to write on them.

BobbySD345 · 13/04/2023 21:47

@firsttimelondonmummy I went for capitals knowing if I messed it up and they looked wonky I'd want to throw them away and start over haha !

hannahplym · 13/04/2023 21:53

Good evening.

I was wondering if I could have your thoughts...we are booked to go to the Isle of Wight not this week coming but the week after for a little caravan break. I will be 33+3 the day we go and staying for 4 nights. Travelling by car/ferry.

I had no worries about going, up until the last couple of days and now I'm over thinking it!

Would you be comfortable going?

Hoppyhops · 13/04/2023 22:05

@BobbySD345 Thanks- they’re great! What a bargain!

firsttimelondonmummy · 13/04/2023 23:16

@hannahplym i’m going to a music festival at nearly 37 weeks 😅
You’ll be fine 🥰

dresslol · 14/04/2023 10:39

@hannahplym I think you’ll be fine, go have a nice break x

Babybaby66 · 14/04/2023 11:45

@firsttimelondonmummy excellent bargain hunting tips there - will def be using that amazon list one. A friend of mine is lending me the mamaroo chair - so expensive to for something the baby might not even like so feeling very grateful im having babies after everyone else so I can benefit from the hand me downs!

@hannahplym id definitely go! I really want to plan something in the UK BEFORE birth but finding a free weekend has somehow become really hard, time is really flying until d day now…

is anyone else already looking at nurseries or anything? I was flat out turned down for most of the ones closest as they were full. (Im in south london so not sure if it’s different in different locations).

went to view a nursery this morning just to be allowed on the waiting list. Felt very surreal (and quite premature!)

PurBal · 14/04/2023 14:43

@hannahplym I am flying next week, 32/34w for out/inbound. Go for it! 😬
@Babybaby66 I think nurseries are only going to get busier with the “free childcare hours” announcement. The capacity of our nursery (for our toddler) has dropped 20% since he started a year ago due to staff retention. I put baby down in January but let them know at about 8 weeks. I think they only made a space available because DS already goes though, friends with toddlers the same age have tried to get in and they’ve been told there’s an 18 month waiting list…
