Had a second wind of engery this weekend (I think the weather helps) managed to get all my outside furniture painted, all baby clothes washed ironed and put away, now painting the front door before I take the pup out, love it when the sun is shinning, roll on the summer

Leaf86 · 16/04/2023 14:32

@BellaTheDarkOverlord she’s gorgeous - so much personality in that little face. Roll on when you can bring her home!

We are mid mini refurb of the house - have had builders in and although end is in sight, we are probably still about 1-2 weeks off decorating and then having the house back to ourselves. It’s meant that all the baby stuff is still unwashed / in bags / in packaging and I’m feeling totally disorganised. We hadn’t ordered anything big until this week (I am now 33 weeks) so just done a big order of crib, car seat, pram etc. I really hope it’s all done in time as it’s absolutely no environment to bring a baby home into at the moment. 🙈🤦🏼‍♀️

pippabg · 16/04/2023 17:24

Thinking of getting some formula in case I struggle to breastfeed. Any mums recommend a particular brand that's good for newborns? I've seen some which are already bottled and seem really useful for the hospital.

AstroH · 16/04/2023 19:00

@BellaTheDarkOverlord omg, she’s so gorgeous. Thanks for the update, I think about you both often and were hoping you were both doing okay. It’s amazing to see your LO in the world, it gives me hope that if my LO arrived tomorrow they would be okay.

BobbySD345 · 16/04/2023 20:11

Is anyone experiencing a sort of vibrating sensation lower down? I have had it a few times sporadically over the last few months but past couple of days it's almost constant. I read online it's a sort of startle response from the baby but if that's the case surely it shouldn't happen this often !?

BobbySD345 · 16/04/2023 20:12

@BellaTheDarkOverlord what a little cutie !! So glad you are both doing well ❤️

BellaTheDarkOverlord · 16/04/2023 21:01

I just decided to build the crib I bought 2 weeks ago to check it's actually not broken and needs returning. Turns out they've sent us the wrong model, missing the rocker parts of it. DH been on phone to Amazon to get it returned and replaced as the one we ordered cost more than the one they sent. At least DD hasn't needed it yet! She's been moved to a lower intensive room today. I tried to get her to breast feed off my boob by putting it in her mouth but she didn't do much with it. I guess it's too soon yet for her. She's at 32 weeks today.

Hi @Leaf86 don't feel too bad, we're in a similar position but we're still weeks off decorating - windows don't arrive until May Shock! so currently have no kitchen, just kinda camping, and a bit of an outdoor sink for washing up and no proper bathroom either. I'm trying not to stress about it as I'm also 33 weeks.
I washed all the baby stuff last weekend and hung it out on the line to dry. Packed it away in sealed plastic ziplock bags so at least it will stay clean! Definitely worth doing if you can for a bit of peace of mind that it's done!

If you're planning on breastfeeding I wouldn't get any as a back up, if you have problems in hospital then they will supply it or it's easily available in supermarkets. But I would say that harvesting colostrum to freeze and take to hospital to syringe feed if baby struggles to latch could be a good tip. I did that first time and we did use a few syringes when baby was too sleepy from diamorphine to latch properly.

thedust · 16/04/2023 21:38

@Leaf86 @rllrsk8 also mid renovation here! We're in a rental apartment at the moment though, sliding doors were due mid May, now end of May. Hoping to move back in June but baby is coming 2nd June by planned cesarean. Got a site meeting this week to talk about new schedule but might be July now!

Fredthespider · 16/04/2023 21:40

Also joining the house renovation fun at 33 weeks 😂 we’re hoping the builder will be done in a couple of weeks, but then it’s a mad rush of painting and getting carpet fitted, settling the kids into their new rooms, then getting all the baby stuff down from the loft and thinking about something that isn’t the house 😱

My hormones have gone into overdrive again. I feel like I’m back in the first trimester feeling nauseous, crazy mood swings and I get phantosmia where I just constantly smell cigarette smoke that isn’t there 😔

rllrsk8 · 16/04/2023 22:06

Well we don't like to do things by halves apparently, @thedust, @Fredthespider and @Leaf86!! It will all come together and will be ok, just try and keep in mind how fab the house will be when it's done and will all be worth it. Our builder is very casual about our deadline (also due 2nd June), but trying to just stay calm and whisper to bump "please stay there for a bit longer". Best wishes to you all for a smooth few weeks and everything falling into place in time!

BobbySD345 · 17/04/2023 04:02

@pippabg @thedust We have previously bought the ready made aptimil with the little teats on. We ended up using them as our DS came early and we hadn't started thinking about colostrum etc and he had tongue tie and wouldn't latch. Our trust don't provide any formula so they were a god send. If money isn't an issue for you then I think aptimil is generally considered the better option formula wise although kendamil is now very popular for its qualities. We have actually bought the mini cow and gate formulas this time round because knowing we won't get child benefit to buy any potential formula we need, there's something mad like £3-4 price difference per tub between that and aptimil. We used the child benefit with DS to fund the formula as I ended up combi feeding. They advise against swapping formula around so unless baby has to swap for medical reasons it's best to pick one and stick to it. You may not need them, you may be able to feed or your hospital may provide them, but for us, they were perfect. We put two in the hospital bag and left the rest of the box in the car as spares for DH to grab if needed.

Re the tongue tie, the Hospital insisted he didn't have it but 2 weeks or so after we were discharged we still had huge latching issues and we saw a specialist who said it was blatantly obvious and she removed it for us. He was miles better afterwards.

BobbySD345 · 17/04/2023 04:15

Anyone else got bad PGP? I find myself unable to sleep it's that painful. I've just given in at 4am and purchased a different pillow to try. Thankfully I'm off work tomorrow and I've only got 4 days left spread over the next 2 weeks because I am like a zombie. Is anyone else finishing early? I'll only be around 33 weeks. Im part time and have some annual leave to use. Plus, with the 3 May bank hols ive managed to have all of May off and then have some paid at Christmas time when things get tight, with mat leave starting in June. DS was born early so I am preparing for that situation (you watch, this little madam will be late!) I am anaemic too which doesn't help the fatigue. They have offered to refer me for physio but there is a 6-8 week waiting list...what's the point! Baby will be here by the time I get my 1st appt through.

Zaalfruit · 17/04/2023 04:46

@BellaTheDarkOverlord was actually thinking about how you and baby were doing ! Lovely to see the update and she looks so cute ! Eurgh Amazon is so annoying at times - literally one of their jobs is picking out items and sending the correct one . I hope they rectify it asap!

@pippabg In terms of breastfeeding please ask your trust if they have a lactation consultant - you might have access to them pre or post birth - they were amazing and helped me so much! If you want formula just incase Kendall milk , Cow and gate and Aptamill all do ready made formula with teats under 6 months milk is heavily regulated so they kinda all are the same . Just like @BobbySD345 im going for cow and gate due to the cost and reasoning .

@BobbySD345 ooh sounds so painful - really feel for you ! Such a long wait for physio. I’m so jealous you are starting maternity leave so early I finish on the 26th of May and my due date is 1st June ! Hopefully the pillow you purchased help. My cousin had really painful pgp she used to say swimming used to help a lot and doing the absolute minimum when it came to lifting - she also wore a maternity belt that was quite structured . Sorry I wish I could help more - there maybe more threads here where people have amazing tips and tricks. Fingers crossed once you give birth the pain goes away straight away .

(Anyone else on team I can’t sleep beyond 3.30am it has been months since I have slept beyond 3.30 I’m hoping once baby is here I can sleep 🤣🤣🤣Lack of sleep plus acid reflux plus vomiting is making me really moody. )

Babybaby66 · 17/04/2023 05:44

Also team no sleep here :(

i’ve never been so up to date on the news/Instagram etc…

Belami · 17/04/2023 07:29

@BobbySD345 yeah pgp sufferer here too and up 4/5 times a night with it. Laying on my hips and turning in bed is an ordeal.

I've finally been to specialist obstetrician physio (referred at 20 weeks) and he gave me some tuba grip to wear as the belt I have just makes me want to pee 🤣 I've also been given some exercises to do on my ball-like moving your hips on it in differing directions etc on it. He told me to go in and out of the car/bed etc with my legs together. Use a prego pillow, don't stand on one leg. Try change positions frequently. Also sleeping on a tilt on your left side with a pillow wedged under your back so your not fully on your back but not putting too much pressure on your hip.
I don't think there's that much they can actually do for it but resting and changing positions as much as possible helps me.
My work have ordered me a special chair as even sitting for prolonged periods is painful, but god knows when that will arrive!

It's really awful though, I feel your pain.

ImHopeful2023 · 17/04/2023 10:01

Me 2 @BobbySD345 I can't sleep can barely walk these days but as long as she is ok I'll keep going like you waiting forever for physio

Baby3herewego · 17/04/2023 10:42

Just got back from out obstetrician appointment. Little boy’s eviction date is all set for June 19th. 9 weeks to go unless he decides to show himself earlier.

Zaalfruit · 17/04/2023 13:29

@Baby3herewego omg you have gotten your date !! So exciting 😄😄😄 Out of interest did you set the date or did they pick the date .

Givealittlebit · 17/04/2023 13:45

Another one who's on the waiting list for physio, for a bad upper back. Highly doubting anything will come through prior to babies arrival but we shall see!

No Reno work here but bunk beds for the boys haven't arrived yet so everything for baby is still in the loft!

Baby3herewego · 17/04/2023 13:54

@Zaalfruit we both kind of did together. 39 weeks for me would be the 18th and then he said it would be good to do it on the day after as both my others were overdue. He would have done any day for us though if we needed to fit in childcare or something.

firsttimelondonmummy · 17/04/2023 14:55

@Baby3herewego that’s my lucky number and has been really present throughout my pregnancy.
Not really into numbers stuff but a friend sent me some notes saying 19 is an angel number and that it signals a new beginning which is sweet 🥰
I’m hoping little man comes 3 days early so that he’s a June 19th baby too 🤞🏻

Baby3herewego · 17/04/2023 15:04

@firsttimelondonmummy sounds like the 19th is a very good day then! Fingers crossed for you. How are you doing?

Leaf86 · 17/04/2023 15:05

That makes me feel so much better @thedust @Fredthespider @rllrsk8 😂 I also spoke to someone at work who did the same thing - feels like such a push to get it ready pre baby. I know regardless we will cope, but I could certainly do without the extra stress right now!
