@katherine123x I have done it twice 🙈😂 but I bled after both times and it frightened the life out of me, so I’ve told hubby no more for a while or at least when I am in the second trimester. Even though we knew the bleeding was likely from DTD it still plays with your mind and anxiety so wasn’t worth it for me x

katherine123x · 20/03/2023 11:41

Ok I feel better already 😂

SnookyPook · 20/03/2023 11:48

@katherine123x we finally did a couple of days ago (I'm now 8+1wks) - I was a bit nervous but all fine. I didn't get spotting or cramping either. I think with my first pregnancy we did it around week 6 and I did get some spotting after which scared me a bit but all was fine. I think it's as much about getting in the mood as anything! Have not been feeling sexy at all 😂

cruciverbalista · 20/03/2023 11:54

@katherine123x we actually have about once a week. I haven't had a drop of bleeding from it!

OrionNebula · 20/03/2023 12:01

@katherine123x yes a few times but not for a week or so. No cramping or bleeding after.

VictoriaBlossom · 20/03/2023 12:06

@katherine123x
Nope, I've had sex once this year, and that was when I fell pregnant accidentally in January.

I love sex but boyfriend works so much at the moment he goes to bed to sleep 😂

MamaNicz · 20/03/2023 12:26

Just saying hello! Been quietly following every now and then when I can! I’m 8+2 with my second, due 28th October! First was born 31/3/22 so on my way to 2 under 2!! Really struggling with nausea and vomiting at the moment which I didn’t have with my son!

also not dtd since finding out, that’s too much effort and movement 🤣

BeaKind · 20/03/2023 12:32

I have! Maybe once or twice a week 😆 all ok and I’ve not had any spotting.

I’ve been looking back at my old baby bump pics and feel like I how I look now (8 weeks) is how I looked at 19 weeks with my first! 😱

BabyG2loading · 20/03/2023 13:38

@MamaNicz I’m the same with the 2 under 2 (nearly 2 under 1 haha) all being well this baby will be born the week after my little girls 1st birthday 🥳
I am 42 so didn’t have time to hang around for number 2, delighted they will be so close together 🥰

SillyOldBear3 · 20/03/2023 13:49

@katherine123x once, a few days ago. I was really paranoid but had no spotting afterwards. My OH isn't that bothered, he says he feels a bit weird about it too, but I kind of missed the intimacy so initiated it 🤣

kingfisher168 · 20/03/2023 14:22

Hi ladies,

Hope you don't mind me joining in, after a few weeks of cheeky lurking. I wonder if some of you can offer their experience.

I am 11 weeks and had my blood and urine tests done during my booking appt at around week 8. Had a call from midwife about GBS and to treat it with antibiotics and all the precautions that come with it. All fine. Out of the sudden today I got a call from a local hospital that they were asked to book me in for a call with a gynaecologists on Friday. Four bloody days from now, without being able to tell me why. I'm really worried now as what else they could find. Midwife not working today so can't ask her, but will call first thing tomorrow. Just wondering if anyone had anything similar happen to them?

Thank you.

iloveeggs · 20/03/2023 14:49

@katherine123x I have 2/3 times since we found out, I'm too tired to be honest but there's been no spotting or anything. I just feel like a zombie and have no energy to even think about it half the time.

Alexandra07 · 20/03/2023 15:04

@kingfisher168 are you sure the midwife referred you? Could it be the GP for something else? Good thing you actually got an appointment so quickly.

@katherine123x no way I am DTD before 12 weeks, I don't want to worry about spotting and cramping! And with the nausea I have, anyway I am not in the mood.

kingfisher168 · 20/03/2023 15:25

@Alexandra07 no I don't think the midwife knows about it but she can see the results so hoping she can give an indication of what it is that a gynaecologist needs to talk to me a out. I think I'd rather they call me on the day so I wouldn't spend all week in suspense. Did anyone get a gynaecologist involvement early on?

PeopleAreToads · 20/03/2023 15:31

@kingfisher168 do you know if there's a reason you were tested for GBS? All the leaflets I had from the midwife at booking in said the NHS don't routinely test for it, but a few people have mentioned being tested on the thread

Just wondering if it's something else I should worry about/look into private testing

Alexandra07 · 20/03/2023 15:44

What is GBS?
@kingfisher168 my midwife told me that anyone at the reception can give me back the results over the phone, I don't need to call her. I hope they let you know soon.

ali2021 · 20/03/2023 16:10

@katherine123x I haven't DTD and glad you brought it up! I've told my DH we're waiting until 12 weeks and hes fine with it. I did a frozen transfer following IVF and was told to avoid until 12 weeks to avoid any uterine contractions. I'd say it's probably fine, but just because it's high stakes and they don't want people to stress if spotting happens after! It's been a long road to get here, so I'm not taking any chances.

monsteramunch · 20/03/2023 16:25

Just had my booking in call with the midwife and I'm so relieved she was really lovely and kind.

Having bloods tomorrow and should get the date for my 12 week scan, too. And my maternity exemption certificate too. A reminder to everyone else to chase for this if it isn't given up you automatically as it's such a handy thing to have.

Feeling positive today as I feel ever so slightly less like I've been hit by a truck than I have done the last few weeks.

Very busy work week but as mentioned upthread I've booked a hotel for the duration so I don't have to commute and bloody hell am I glad I did!

Going to treat the evenings like a little holiday I think. Room service and Netflix. Not too shabby!

kingfisher168 · 20/03/2023 16:48

@PeopleAreToads Hmmm not really, I just assumed that's routinely done. Maybe depends on the CCG.

It might be worth asking about it as I was told that as long as you treat it it's very manageable (they give you atb now and then during delivery). If you're worried then speak to your midwife as not sure why this would vary by region, but it's possible I had something predisposing me without knowing it?

VictoriaBlossom · 20/03/2023 16:49

@Alexandra07 group b strep

kingfisher168 · 20/03/2023 16:51

Thank you @Alexandra07 , that's good to know, I hope my midwife will tell me more soon.

GBS stand for group B strep, apparently lots of people have it but without any symptoms, not really an issue unless pregnant (or older)

VictoriaBlossom · 20/03/2023 17:05

@kingfisher168 if it's any conciliation you're not the only one getting phone calls and intervention. I have tested positive for sickle cell trait and they're trying to get my boyfriend in for bloods asap to make sure baby will be ok.
I don't know anything about gbs, but don't want you thinking you're the only one with worry over bloods x

kingfisher168 · 20/03/2023 17:09

You know what @VictoriaBlossom , that's actually exactly what I wanted to hear 😂. I didn't get stressed much in the past 11 weeks, but unexpected phone calls from healthcare professionals do the trick!

Hope all turns out to be okay for you x

VictoriaBlossom · 20/03/2023 17:09

@SnookyPook @Alexandra07
Thanks for your views on babies etc, I turn 34 on Thursday and feel very fed up of people saying I'm gonna be an old mum etc, I knew being on Mumsnet it's going to be a higher quantity of the forum user age. I mean, we were the MySpace user generation and forums were just the norm back in the day!
(Not a sweeping assumption of all users on here)

I'm so excited to have a baby, and I'd never thought I'd ever say that 😂

Summer022 · 20/03/2023 17:12

Anyone else struggling with sense of smell? My sickness is pretty bad, try to get through the day without being sick or retching but it’s really really hard. It’s annoying because I think my brain as associated the smell of my bathroom and living room with feeling sick, so now just walking around my home is making me retch. 😩 I am living off of whatever I can keep down, 9 weeks tomorrow by my calculations so hoping as some point the sickness will stop and I will actually be able to enjoy a meal! I miss fooooood!!! Back to gp tomorrow for bloods round 2 as they couldn’t get any blood from me the first time at my booking appointment! Hope she manages this time around.
