In our area, they refer you for a scan at your booking in appointment. I had my booking in last week and she said you’ll get a letter in around 2 weeks. I’ll be on holiday at 12 weeks so I’m hoping I don’t have to rearrange

blebbleb · 28/02/2023 10:54

Im in sw London and got my booking appointment, blood tests and 12 week scan all in one lot of letters. It depends on the trust I guess

@ttcttc I have a private scan booked for a couple of weeks time, it’s £99 in my area.
I may get at early one on the nhs due to previous early losses but I’m having to wait a week for a gp call at the moment so I’m not hopeful they’ll fit that in!

Koalawhala · 28/02/2023 12:37

Hi @peacelily101, no experience of this but it sounds positive that they’re seeing growth and development between your scans. When will your next scan be?

Phoenixwings1989 · 28/02/2023 12:38

I am so envious of those of you who have had acknowledgement from midwifery. I am 8+1 and still nothing. Trying to be patient but it's not one of my strong points at the minute. I don't remember it being this complicated with my first. I was given a date for the booking app at four weeks last time 😪. I'm worried I won't be on their system. So anxious with all this waiting.

@peacelily101 I haven't experienced what you're going through but hopefully someone will be able to answer your question for you. ☺️

So just got back from having second scan, I'm 5+6 so they saw a yolk sac which is good because they couldn't see that last week.

Annoyingly though, the whole point of today was that the consultant would also come have a look at the scan because of my possibly oddly shaped uterus, but I was waiting so long to be seen that they left! So now they want me to come back in another two weeks to check viability of pregnancy and also hopefully consultant can also check the scan.

On one hand it's nice and reassuring for me but at the same time I can't help but feel that the scan today was sort of a waste of an appointment that someone else could have used, especially given how busy they were. It would have been better if my appointment today had been a week later and then they could have checked everything in one go!

MeganC104 · 28/02/2023 13:25

Sorry I've missed quite a lot.

Anyone else getting headaches. Beginning to think it's a symptom.

blebbleb · 28/02/2023 13:36

@Phoenixwings1989 I would call and ask for an update. I have my booking appointment for 8 week

natalik · 28/02/2023 14:01

Had my scan today and all is well. 6 weeks and 1 day - they confirmed a heartbeat too :) so super relieved!)
The only thing now is I have a 2 hr flight when I'm 11 weeks and then return flight. I'm not sure if it's okay to fly or not. My doctor says everything is a no but I read lots of articles where it says it's okay to fly - can anyone give any advice ?

natalik · 28/02/2023 14:02

@Jealousofchiliheeler sorry to hear you didn't get all the answers your hoped. But atleast you have some reassurance ❤️

blebbleb · 28/02/2023 14:14

@natalik I think it's perfectly safe to travel. I'd definitely listen to your doctor rather than articles online x

iloveeggs · 28/02/2023 14:16

@natalik I'm flying at the weekend 4-5 hr flight, Dr said it was okay 👌I'll be 7ish weeks then.

Yes! I had a horrendous one last night and into this morning, kept waking me up. My morning sickness symptoms seem to have eased off now the headaches have arrived… hopefully everything’s ok 🤞🏻

LWestYorks · 28/02/2023 14:50

@MeganC104 yes mine have started - I think we’re similar in dates. How far along are you? I’m also seeing a pattern with the nausea doesn’t start until between 10-11 and lasts all day…I’ve also become knackered all of a sudden 😩

LaVitesse2022 · 28/02/2023 14:52

@ttcttc I had an early scan yesterday and it cost £80. I'm in South West London.

EMcG3 · 28/02/2023 15:10

@natalik - you are ok to fly up to something like 34? 36? weeks. Even then you typically don't fly about worries that you will give birth on the plane or in the wrong country. I was on an 11 hour flight, and same return, at 32 weeks, got a doctor's note for it and no indication of an issue.

Mamabear345 · 28/02/2023 15:43

@natalik perfectly safe to fly unless told otherwise. I flew numerous times when pregnant with my first including a long haul flight at 23 weeks. We already have trips booked with this pregnancy too!

Think they're £65 here but the nearest is 1 hour away. May be worth it as the NHS seem quite far behind

natalik · 28/02/2023 16:13

Thank you everyone for your advise! I feel much better :)

Koalawhala · 28/02/2023 16:28

@Kate33ttc seems expensive in my area then. I feel good having it booked in though, something to aim for!

Yes will be worth the money to put you at ease 😊

Alexandra07 · 28/02/2023 16:47

@LaVitesse2022 where did you get your scan for £80? I am South West London too.
I have seen that window to the womb have weekend offers posted on their local Facebook pages if anyone has a branch close by to them, but not a lot of appointments available.

LaVitesse2022 · 28/02/2023 16:51

@Alexandra07 at Bodyvie in Richmond. I think they only have 2-3 days per week they do them but there were lots of slots available on those days and I booked with short notice (3 days in advance).
