@iloveeggs I find savoury/salty things I can tolerate better than sweet things, including fruit. So I've started eating pretzels and that's working well!

So sorry to hear so many of us are struggling with nausea. It's awful as when you're feeling unwell you can't really focus on anything else. Gaviscon so far seems to be helping for me (only started yesterday though).

LaVitesse2022 · 27/02/2023 14:55

On another note, I've been to my early scan today and everything is going well. Baby in the right place measuring what it should be measuring for 7 weeks and I got to see its little heart flickering ferociously on the screen 😍

firstlittlefrazzleontheway · 27/02/2023 14:57

@LaVitesse2022 amazing news! I'm 7 weeks today and my scan is in 40 minutes, I'm so nervous I feel sick!

Was your scan abdominal or internal?

LaVitesse2022 · 27/02/2023 15:02

Best of luck @firstlittlefrazzleontheway !

Mine was abdominal, and we could see everything very clearly. Of course, the baby still looks like a bit of an amorphous bean but all the different pieces could be seen, and the little heart too.

Sending positive vibes your way 🙌

firstlittlefrazzleontheway · 27/02/2023 15:04

@LaVitesse2022 thank you so much!

I'm currently trying to drink water to fill my bladder as advised but it's making me so nauseous trying to drink so much so quickly🤦‍♀️

iloveeggs · 27/02/2023 15:05

@LaVitesse2022 Awh great news!! I have mine on Weds.

@firstlittlefrazzleontheway Best of luck!

LaVitesse2022 · 27/02/2023 15:06

Best of luck @iloveeggs ! 🍀

LaVitesse2022 · 27/02/2023 15:07

@firstlittlefrazzleontheway I think as long you haven't been to the loo very recently your bladder should be reasonably full. I didn't drink much water in advance and everything was clear.

SnookyPook · 27/02/2023 15:42

@LaVitesse2022 how lovely and reassuring! 🥰

@firstlittlefrazzleontheway you might be in there as I type! Hope it's going well 🥰

You're all a couple of weeks ahead of me! Still barely any symptoms here and feeling quite surreal. These early days do drag a little don't they?! I did ring midwife earlier and she told me it's all online now but "you will have to keep checking the system for your appointment as we don't notify you separately" - also told me the booking appointment won't be until I'm around 10wks! 😩

Anyway, I'm now registered online and waiting for news of appointments. The whole system seems rather complicated - not very user friendly for people with learning difficulties etc.

Purrrrr · 27/02/2023 16:01

I spoke to the midwife on the phone last week and she told me they are so busy at the moment my booking in appt will be between 10 and 12 weeks and my scan will be between 12 and 14 weeks!

I’m 8+4 today so I’m going to book another early scan for the end of next week when I’ll be 10 weeks. I can’t wait til 14!

SnookyPook · 27/02/2023 16:03

@Purrrrr sounds like our little ones are going to be in a busy school year! I wasn't planning to have an early scan but I might need to seriously consider it for my own sanity as waiting another 2 months would be awful!

ttcttc · 27/02/2023 16:04

@SnookyPook I wonder why they don't just give you an appointment. I got my appointment this morning (ten weeks 😑) and then told to sign up to the app. Mines badger notes, not sure if that's the same app for all districts ?

DancingNancies · 27/02/2023 16:11

For those taking Pregnacare, are you taking it on a full stomach? I've made the mistake of taking it first thing before and it made me incredibly nauseous - not making the same mistake again this time!

For headaches etc - the 4head sticks are safe to use, or I highly recommend a hot water bottle to the face! Sounds insane, but I get terrible tension headaches and that's often the only thing that relieves them! 🙈

I've still not really got any symptoms except feeling super thirsty with a hideous dry mouth - and I'm absolutely exhausted...I miss caffeine!

firstlittlefrazzleontheway · 27/02/2023 16:13

@ttcttc in my area we sign up to something called my pregnancy notes for midwife appointments.

Just home from my scan, everything is looking perfect and I'm measuring exactly 7 weeks which is right by my calculations of ovulation.

I must be lucky in my area as I have my booking in appointment with the midwife on Friday morning- though they will have me based at 8 weeks today based on my lmp

LaVitesse2022 · 27/02/2023 16:37

@firstlittlefrazzleontheway that's wonderful! Glad to hear all is OK

@SnookyPook my appt will be when I'm 9+6 so feeling your pain! We all know the NHS is under horrendous pressure so I'm not surprised these are taking longer to get in than we and they would've liked.

@DancingNancies I'm taking pregnacare with my breakfast, think I might be sick if I took them on an empty stomach, they're quite sizeable!

SnookyPook · 27/02/2023 16:39

@firstlittlefrazzleontheway ah that's great! 🥰

Yeah it's My Pregnancy Notes where I am too.

Guess I will just have to exercise patience..!

cruciverbalista · 27/02/2023 16:41

Congrats @firstlittlefrazzleontheway what a relief that must have been! I'm still not planning on an early scan. The next month is going to feel really long.

@DancingNancies yes, I take them after lunch, think I'd feel really sick on an empty stomach.

For those with a lot of nausea-- chocolate milk was really helping me get some calories in last week. And im enjoying cucumbers, but they seem hard to find right now. Trying to eat every hour which is helping with the vomiting but isn't especially fun.

Baby1023 · 27/02/2023 17:38

@iloveeggs @Hopefulx I’m the same and had a cry today because I’m stuck off work at home feeling sick/being sick and even the smells at home are making me so sick.
Feel gross from only eating beige and absolutely sick of crackers, biscuits and toasts but feel even worse if I don’t force them down.
pregnancy vitamins made me feel even worse so loved to just folic acid and Vit D - okayed by doc.
I find the sickness in the first trimester very isolating - if you’ve not experienced it you can’t understand it.
it’s worse if I move much too so just feel stuck on the sofa and guilty that I’m barely paying toddler any attention and not keeping on top of the house at all.

MamaKitz · 27/02/2023 18:48

Sorry to hear so many of you sick! I am strangely fine this time which is not normal for me, I'm usually sick as a dog from the get go. I'm having a tiny bit of spotting today again, it had stopped last week strangely just after I found out! I have booked myself an early scan but it's not until next Friday... not sure I can cope waiting that long! Going to hold out and see how it goes though as it is only tiny bits of spotting today so I'm trying to stay positive. I'm 5+2 so will be 6+6 for my scan.

JoanneV · 27/02/2023 18:50

@Baby1023 can relate to this been in bed all day. No toddler to look after but the house is a tip and I have zero energy. Nausea is on and off but craving spice, eating loads of spicy cheese and jalapeños out the jar. The worst is my cramps and anxiety. 6+2 and my first doctors appointment is tomorrow, not sure if its normal to be having such intense cramps still.

Ss32 · 27/02/2023 18:57

Oh gosh, I have literally eaten non stop all day which is the norm now to keep the nausea at bay. Usually by tea time, I’m really off food but today I made chicken pie, potatoes, veg and gravy and demolishes the lot. I laid on the bed for about half an hour thinking I may explode! Still very stuffed but it felt good to finally eat an actual meal after work!

LWestYorks · 27/02/2023 18:59

Hey! 7+4 today and I’ve had the most awful nausea but today nothing, it’s worrying me that’s something up. Surely symptoms don’t just stop after feeling so terrible for weeks? I don’t have any bleeding or anything just so tired.

Alexandra07 · 27/02/2023 19:25

Folic acid: I wish I knew it earlier but if you are obese you should take 5mg folic acid. I told my GP I am borderline overweight/obese and prescribed me higher dose folic acid.

cruciverbalista · 27/02/2023 19:36

@LWestYorks I think our bodies adjust to the hormone levels, then they double again and we're knocked out. Just try to enjoy a day of fewer symptoms:)

Jigglemonster · 27/02/2023 19:38

Congrats on your scan @firstlittlefrazzleontheway

@Baby1023 I've the same guilt with my toddler, watched 2 Disney movies over the weekend over the short period of time I was on duty.

Thanks fir the tip @Alexandra07 , I'm on the overweight/obese threshold and have just been taking the seven seas ones so not enough

@LWestYorks you're not alone, my symptoms disappeared at 7w3d ish and have only come back here and there over the last week. I had an early scan at 7w but already thinking of booking another one. It's really disconcerting but according to Google hormones fluctuate so symptoms can too.
