@blebbleb my little girl is 8th sept so that will be a fun month 😂

amybooth · 18/02/2023 18:10

@LWestYorks it will be because the midwives go off of a "regular" 28 day cycle that the dates will be out slightly xx

NSx · 18/02/2023 18:23

@Needtobuildabridge congratulations I bet it feels more real now. I have a scan 7+6 with NHS as a reassurance scan and I can’t wait but also feel like every day is dragging in as I’m only 4+2 at the minute 🥹

LWestYorks · 18/02/2023 18:26

@Hopefulx Yes the first appointment is at 8 weeks. When are you due? Im going to book an early scan for the week of my appointment so I’ll be just over 8 weeks (off my calculations) x

@amybooth thank you - makes a bit more sense now!! X

Hopefulx · 18/02/2023 18:33

@LWestYorks I’m due the 19th October so a few days after you. Are you going to try and change your appointment or just leave it how it is? What do they do on your first appointment - my letter said it will take two hours 😂 I was thinking what the hell will they be doing for 2 hours!

I think booking the scan then is a great idea as then it will put your mind at ease and you won’t have to wait as long xx

Hopefulx · 18/02/2023 18:35

Will everyone bring their partners to the midwife appointments?

My hubby will definitely come to the scans but I’m not sure if he is needed for the midwife appointments x

LWestYorks · 18/02/2023 18:36

@Hopefulx Yes just going to leave it, I mean I would like one the week before 🤣 but she wasn’t budging the last on the phone when I said I’d be 9 weeks! They’ll take your bloods and ask you loadssss of questions about health etc. Where are you from if you don’t mind me asking? x

amybooth · 18/02/2023 18:50

Ladies who have had babies before when do the midwives start using Doppler to listen to baby's heartbeat?

Beemug · 18/02/2023 19:00

Awww these scan photos look lovely - so happy for those who have got good news last few days!

You all have convinced me to just book an early scan for when I’m around 7 weeks - already nervous and excited!

blebbleb · 18/02/2023 19:06

@Hopefulx I didn't bring my husband to midwife appointments last pregnancy. I think most hospitals allow it now but I don't think there's much need. Definitely the scans though.

IaminRome · 18/02/2023 19:16

I don't think partners need to come to the routine midwife appointments, unless you have any concerns. Towards the end I wish my partner had been able to come for birth planning meetings as I was under consultant care, but COVID didn't allow it.

These scan news are lovely!! So glad thw little beans are doing so well! Can I ask if around 7 weeks they've been internal?

Baby1023 · 18/02/2023 19:27

Hi everyone

Love the scan pics! We had one with window to the womb last week. Measuring 6 days 3 weeks and saw heartbeat flickering away. Very reassuring, it was internal but I find the discomfort is worth it for the reassurance personally.

suffering so much with sickness and nausea. Been prescribed 2 different meds but just not taking the edge off - it’s miserable and I can only stomach beige - toast, biscuits, chips and fizzy drink which makes me feel even worse as I’m used to eating much more fruit and veg than I can face now. Dreading work next week feeling like this!

Kate33ttc · 18/02/2023 19:30

@mamabear345
I dont want to tell him because last time I had an early loss, he wasn't comforting to me at all, he's not emotionally supportive. It's just his personality, strong silent type and It made the whole experience worse for me because I was mad at him and felt so alone. Also, I don't want to talk about being pregnant out loud because it will make it seem more real to me, and if I have another loss I think that would just break me. Its 1 in 4 pregnancies that miscarry. I don't know how I'll get through the anxiety of the next 8 weeks

Chanteuse · 18/02/2023 19:32

@Hopefulx my booking appointment is at 9+1, NHS in my area says booking appointment should be done at 8-10 weeks 🙂

DH is planning on coming to the booking appointment and then the scans and probably the birth plan one which is 36 weeks I think? We’ll play it by ear 😌

blebbleb · 18/02/2023 19:37

Im not going to have an early scan. I had a missed miscarriage at 8 weeks so wouldn't want a scan until at least after that.

Ss32 · 18/02/2023 19:42

My partner came to my booking in appointment (well, it was on the phone) for our first as they ask a LOT of questions about both sides of the family. I won’t bother taking him this time though, I’m sure I know all the important bits. If I can’t remember, I’ll just ask her to look back at the first baby 😂 (typical 2nd baby vibes!)

Hankthehonk · 18/02/2023 19:43

Wow the thread has been so busy, amazing to see scan photos and hear positive stories! Thanks for sharing.
The scan was worth every penny in my first pregnancy, so we've already booked for three weeks time when I'll be somewhere between 7+3 and 7+6 (I tend to have longer cycles of 30/31 days so I think Flo prediction is a bit generous).
I'm still nervous this time around but with a toddler (plus working full time) the days are definitely passing quicker. Hopefully it'll feel like no time until my scan.

Alexandra07 · 18/02/2023 19:59

This is the list of NHS antenatal appointments:
www.nhs.uk/pregnancy/your-pregnancy-care/your-antenatal-appointments/

First appointment Should be between 8-12 weeks but since there are some tests that need to be done before 10 weeks, it takes place at 8 or 9 weeks. I guess if they have a lot of appointments yours will move at 9 weeks.

LaVitesse2022 · 18/02/2023 20:25

@Hopefulx I have my first appt booked for 9+6 - Mother's Day 😊 Hope the first scan is not too late after. I'm going to try to resist going for an early one as I rather spend that money on something else and as this is my first pregnancy no reason to suspect anything will go wrong. But completely understand why people welcome that reassurance, it's such a long wait!

MeganC104 · 18/02/2023 20:56

Is anyone else ridiculously hungry? I get a tiny bit of nausea first thing in the morning but the rest of the day I can't stop eating

I don't think I feel hungry but I'm being ridiculously greedy last two days. I'm putting a stop to that tomorrow !

I've been so hungry the last couple of days! Trying to make healthy choices. Lots of fruit and veg etc.

Hi all 🥰 I've only found out there was a continuation of the previous thread, i just thought it went quiet 🥴 I'm 7w 3 days (or may be 7w 6, waiting to confirm), second pregnancy, my daughter is 3 🥰 I have my reassurance scan booked for Wednesday, so excited but nervous!

I'm so hungry all the time! This pregnancy feels so much different already, with my first one I had no symptoms apart from butterflies in my stomach, not even bad cramping, never knew what morning sickness was... And this time round, I feel so sick and tired all the time. No throwing up luckily, but as soon as I feel a bit hungry, I have to have something straight away or I feel sick! And I can't stand coffee, which I normally really look forward to (especially latte from our coffee express, I absolutely hate it!)! And water is another one, it really feels horrible to drink it, always have to squeeze a bit of lemon in there to tolerate it 🤔 and last couple of nights I just can't sleep until 1-2...

EMcG3 · 18/02/2023 21:58

@Alexandra07 thanks so much for the antinatal appointment list - it was incredibly helpful to look at. This is my second and for some reason I never sought out this info so stumbled around in the dark in a deeply unhelpful way.

@blebbleb yes! Wild hunger is my main symptom. I eat one full extra meal each day than in normal times.

Twoinapod · 18/02/2023 22:51

@amybooth with my first it was at 16 week appointment, with my second the 16 week appointment was over the phone so it was 24 weeks.
