Well I have to tell soon...just came back to work from holiday leave yesterday and had to wear different work shirt. I never wear this one, as it's like old women polyester blouse with bow knot lol. Even this one will last me a month max, so need to ask for maternity one 🙈Plus our manager went to cover somewhere else and for another 6 months has our unit as holding. Looks like I have no other choice as to inform her via phone call 😬

Londongirl87 · 02/03/2023 14:50

How is everyone doing?

I had my first pre-term clinic appointment yesterday at 14+3 (I am being followed because I had 2 procedures on my cervix 2 years ago, a biopsy and a Lletz)

Unfortunately, after a transvaginal ultrasound (which made me get a few drops of blood in the evening), the doctor told me that I 'don't have the longest cervix' (29mm) and even though it is not in the worrying range (<25mm) it is not in the normal range either (35 to 48mm)

She told me to stop physical activity, to not have sex, and to come back in two weeks for another scan to measure it again. She also mentioned the possibility to have to take Progesterone pessaries but did not mention the possibility of a cervical stitch.

Has anyone gone through this in this or a previous pregnancy? I am now quite worried that I might not be able to keep my baby safe, and that I might lose my baby or have a premature birth.

The silver lining is that she also did a very quick abdominal scan so we could see our baby again, which always makes me happy!

cinnamonbiscuit · 02/03/2023 22:35

@Londongirl87 I’m afraid I don’t have any experience of this but poor you, that must be worrying. Definitely take it easy and keep rested. I suppose it must be a good sign that they’re not mentioning the cervical stitch? Im sure they would do it if they thought it were necessary, maybe they truly don’t think it is. Still worrying for you though Flowers

Stargazer89 · 03/03/2023 17:39

@Londongirl87 I'm sorry I don't have any experience with that either. It sounds quite scary but it sounds as though they are keeping a good eye on you. It's good that it's not in the worrying range but I can understand how worrying it must be. I'm on progesterone with this pregnancy because of my history of losses and it seems to be doing the trick this time.

Is anyone finding out the sex? I went in for a scan with the consultant today due to my history and luckily everything is looking good and we found out we are having a little boy. I have also opted to have the NIPT despite low risk screening, mainly to hopefully give me piece of mind.

I hope everyone is looking after themselves.

LM88 · 03/03/2023 17:46

Hi everyone,

Just wondering if anyone has any positive stories of bleeding in pregnancy? You dont hear of them much. Basically im 13 weeks, had my 12 week scan 2 says ago and went to EPU at week 8 and again today due to bleeding.
All checked and fine but I have now had to wear a sanitary towel and passed clots. As they seen the baby a few hours ago they have told me to monitor it and potentially go in.

I am sick with worry but noone has any answers! X

FarmBaby3 · 04/03/2023 02:58

@LM88 I don't have experience of it but I hope you are okay. It must be really worrying. Did you go back in?

LM88 · 04/03/2023 03:38

Im going to see how I am in the morning, I passed a clot & called triage they said to monitor and ive had nothing since. It may change in the morning when im up & about running after a toddler! It is literally a period but noone seems concerned. I get that baby seems to be okay but surely it isnt right? Its been such a hard couple of days x

Moni81 · 04/03/2023 06:11

@LM88 if you had similar bleeding at 8 weeks then again at 13, roughly when your period could be normally due maybe. Some women bleed a little on time for period first couple of months. There was even article about woman who had her monthly bleed until delievery. If there was hematoma or something else that could cause bleeding they would notice on scan. Also that could be cervical ectropion which is very common and simply makes your cervix more sensitive. I hope you feel better in the morning and bleeding doesn't come back.

Owlgirl14 · 04/03/2023 09:41

@LM88 I'm afraid I don't have any experience but I hope you're ok, must be such a worrying time for you. x

@Londongirl87 I'm doing ok thank you, everyday is a school day for me. I'd not heard of different cervix ranges before, have you heard anything more since? Do they look at this on normal scans or just TV ultrasound x

Londongirl87 · 04/03/2023 10:17

@Owlgirl14 I am having transvaginal ultrasounds for the cervix check because my pregnancy is classified as high risk of preterm labour. Luckily my hospital (Chelsea & Westminster) has a preterm clinic and they are quite proactive which reassures me.

This week was my first check-up and the next one is in 10 days now, on the 15th, so depending on the results, they will tell me what to do. For the moment I take it easy!

@LM88 Please keep us posted and I hope you get reassuring news today!

allgoodthings84 · 04/03/2023 14:56

@LM88 I had some brown blood in my discharge for 5 days starting a few days after my scan. The midwife wasn’t at all concerned and told e to book in for a swab at the GP for thrush. I had no thrush symptoms but the GP was more concerned because if my 2 previous miscarriages so referred me to EPU for an internal scan to check baby’s heartbeat and check my cervix (and the swab). Baby was fine and my cervix was closed and a normal length and couldn’t see any reason for me to be bleeding. I got prescribed progesterone to take until 16 weeks though as any pregnant woman who has bleeding who has had even one previous miscarriage should then be prescribed progesterone as a precaution. I googled this after and it’s completely true (on the Tommy’s website) so if you’ve had a previous miscarriage then ask for progesterone. I think I must have had an irritated cervix or something as the swab came back clear from all infections too. That’s what I’m hoping anyway as I have no idea how it’s going in there now

Owlgirl14 · 04/03/2023 19:06

Has anyone experienced much round ligament pain yet? I've had on and off sharp stabbing pains down my left side since about lunch time which I think are them.

I'm worrying though as it mainly started after a stressful vets visit where my dog had a seizure. My dog has never had one and it just randomly happened at the vets and was quite upsetting to see.

Owlgirl14 · 04/03/2023 19:07

@Londongirl87 Sounds like you're in good hands, I hope your next appointment goes well.

@LM88 How are you doing today x

LM88 · 04/03/2023 19:33

Thanks everyone for all your messages!

Especially the link to the information surrounding how normal it can be - that reassured me @Moni81

Today it has eased off alot, wearing a sanitary towel and not much all day which is a good sign.
The midwife said yday when I passed the clot, it could have been my body preparing to get rid of that and said it may ease off so hopefully that is the end but still worrying as noone actually knows what it was and nothing to say it wont happen again.
if it does happen again they will check my cervix. My tummy is tender though but not sure if thats just me being over cautious. X

Stargazer89 · 05/03/2023 18:20

@LM88 how are you feeling today? I'm pleased that it had been eased off. Pregnancy is such a worrying time.

has anyone started to buy stuff yet?

LM88 · 05/03/2023 19:19

Hey!
I had another clot this morning & called maternity triage. Again, not concerned. Told me there isnt anything they can do because im under 16 weeks.
She said contact the early pregnancy unit (the same place i visited friday) on monday morning when it reopens if im concerned or go to a&e! I mentioned a cervix check and she said it has to be referred from early pregnancy unit which is closed the weekend.
So part of me is so frustrated because to them im another caller and im sure they have seen allkinds and the other half is, theres not more I can do and if baby was fine friday and they wasnt concerned do I just ride it out!? So give them a call again tomorrow 🙈

DandelionPockets · 06/03/2023 10:08

@LM88 hope you get through today and everything is fine.

How is everyone? Time seems to have slowed right down, it's the wait between the 12 week scan and the next appointments and scans. I want to know everything is going ok!

New symptom driving me up the wall, blocked nose. Feel like my whole face is throbbing 😂 I'm sure it will pass like all the other random things that happen to our bodies during these 9 months.

DandelionPockets · 06/03/2023 10:10

@Stargazer89 not bought anything yet but bookmarked things I'm potentially going to get and made some lists. We're going to have to move house in a couple of months so will wait until after that otherwise it just adds to the stuff we need to sort! Have you?

Nik84 · 06/03/2023 10:42

@LM88 How worrying for you, I hope you’re doing ok. Would it be possible to book a private scan to put your mind at ease? How many weeks are you now? Sending love x

LM88 · 06/03/2023 10:52

Hi,
I am 13+3 today - called the EPU this morning, getting me back in for another scan this afternoon as my last one friday was before the clots.
If everythings ok they will refer me for a cervix check.
They mentioned this friday but decided against the cervix check so this time I will ask for it.
Fingers crossed x

LM88 · 06/03/2023 10:53

Sorry @Nik84 rubbish at tagging people in responses 😂

Nik84 · 06/03/2023 11:11

Oh that’s good @LM88 fingers crossed for positive news xx

allgoodthings84 · 06/03/2023 12:40

@LM88 I would persist with the cervix check as when I went in with the brown blood in discharge they told me they like to check the cervix of anyone who has bleeding. I know it varies from trust to trust but it’s easy for them to do so would have thought it would be something standard to check. They combined it with the scan to check the baby’s heartbeat so was done as an internal exam and all done at same time so was actually easier for them

allgoodthings84 · 06/03/2023 12:45

@Stargazer89 I’m not buying anything until after 20 weeks scan. I’m constantly on edge anyway after my 2 miscarriages then the blood a couple weeks ago so don’t want to buy anything and have it around if the unthinkable was to happen.

on the other August due babies thread on here one poor lady went to her private gender scan last week to find out she had had a missed miscarriage since her 12 weeks scan. She had no signs of anything being wrong. It really shook me up as it’s the thing I’m most scared of at the moment. I have no bump and am now 15+2 and it’s my second baby (fourth pregnancy) so that worries me a bit. My symptoms are gone (normal I know) and I feel nothing yet (normal again especially as I’ve got an anterior placenta) but basically there’s nothing to suggest I’m pregnant now and after everything it worries me
