@allgoodthings84 that's frustrating about the paternity leave! My partner was the same with our first, but they gave him (very kindly) special leave instead. It's a killer, but worst comes to worst (if you can financially bare it) they might let him take unpaid leave, although this stings money wise xxx

allgoodthings84 · 25/02/2023 09:33

my partner isn’t going to get any paternity as he’s starting a new job and will be 2.5 weeks short of being entitled to it (he has to be there 6 months by the due date/date it’s born if early). He couldn’t turn down the offer because of it though. Hopefully he can have it as holiday but will depend on whether someone else has already booked it off or not. Keeping our fingers crossed not. Luckily because I’m having a planned section we will have a better idea of when baby will be here. At the moment we are going by 39 weeks as will be around then. My daughter was 8 days late so they aren’t expecting this one to come earlier than 39 weeks unless there’s unknown complications of course.

This is the same for my partner, and me for mat leave pay 😭😭😭

Nik84 · 25/02/2023 10:07

@allgoodthings84 Yep, I’m a planner too so I know that I’ll find that part difficult. But it’s so easy now to order things online and get next day delivery, so will buy a enough neutrals for the first few days and then get everything else sorted. With my girls it was pink everything, bouncer, playmat etc. This time I’m going for the greys and neutrals to match my decor, so that part isn’t a problem 😅

Nik84 · 25/02/2023 10:09

About paternity leave, my husband might take a week or 2 off, but it’s such a low payment I don’t know if we could take the hit. He might just take holiday leave so he gets full pay.

BobbiMum · 25/02/2023 10:50

Hello! First post on this group but have been following a little while. Wanted to wait for our 12 week scan which was this week and showed all well with a 29.08.23 due date! Have requested to join the Facebook group also, thanks for setting up!

Owlgirl14 · 26/02/2023 10:52

@Moni81 Wow that's a lot of water! I drank just over a 500ml bottle an hour before and she commented on my full bladder. It was a bit uncomfortable at that so I dread to think what you felt like with twice as much water 🙈

Moni81 · 26/02/2023 12:30

@Owlgirl14 she said maybe it's because I'm slim, but she definitely didn't refer to my belly, as it's really sticking out now like 4-5 months with my previous pregnancies. After all she managed to check everything, brain, bladder, fingers, toes etc lol, I'm sure it will be easier during next scan. I was already given date on 14th of April, just different hospital this time.

ILookAtTheFloor · 26/02/2023 14:30

My 20 week scan is 6th April and I've booked a private gender scan for 16 weeks on 16th March as well.

My combined screening finally came back- 1 in 10k chance for each of the trisomies, so relieved.

FarmBaby3 · 26/02/2023 15:41

Stargazer89 · 21/02/2023 17:47

@divorcingmumoftwo are you feeling any better today? I hope so, that sounds pretty painful.

Can I ask if anyone is late 30s what your screening results came back as? After 3 losses and a high risk in my first pregnancy (which turned out to be fine) I have no faith in my body. I'm so worried that something isn't right and it's stopping me from enjoying being pregnant. We have told close family but I just feel awkward if they mention it because I just can't imagine having a healthy baby at the end of it all x

I'm 36 and had low results with both of my other two.

Daughter had NT of 0.9 and I was 30.57 years. Chance of 75,448

Son had NT of 1.3 and I was 32.22 years. Chance of DS was 1 in 3909

I had this pregnancy tests on Thursday so unlikely to get results any time soon but NT was 1.2mm

Stargazer89 · 26/02/2023 18:45

thank you @FarmBaby3. I had NT of 1.6 with first at 33/34 came back at 1:47. 37 this time and NT of 1.3 and DS has come back 1:3500 and 1:50000 for the other two. I'm still incredibly anxious though.

1.2 is nice and low so you should have a good low risk this time x

Stargazer89 · 26/02/2023 18:55

@ILookAtTheFloor congrats that's great news. Also that's good that you have your 20 scan appointment through already. I'm waiting for mine and hoping it's not booked for when we are away for a few days.

Owlgirl14 · 26/02/2023 20:22

@Moni81 That's good, we've got our 20 week scan on 4th April so it doesn't feel like too far away. Can't wait to find out if it't a boy or girl x

Owlgirl14 · 26/02/2023 20:26

Just got back from a few days away and had a letter already with our screening results.

Low chance:

1:7103 for Downs

1:100,000 for Edward's or Pataus

NT was 1.5mm and I'm 36

So really pleased with that 😊

Moni81 · 26/02/2023 20:35

@Owlgirl14 that's really great numbers, you can relax now. They told me to wait 7-10 days, they call if it's high risk or send letter if not. I'm 42 so don't expect high numbers, just hope to still fit into low risk for ma age.

DandelionPockets · 28/02/2023 16:24

How is everyone?

Finally feeling a bit better with less nausea and sleeping better, cried today for no reason but I can cope with that 😂

How are people's bumps starting to look?

Ally345 · 28/02/2023 16:50

Had my 12 week scan yesterday am and all looked good. Tracking ahead at 13 weeks with a due date of 5th of Sept.

So relieved and finally telling people.

Although symptoms are still tough and have just caught norovirus from my partner, I literally cried as felt I don’t have the strength to go through it on top of the existing sickness. Anyways, vomiting away and telling myself it will all pass 🙏

DandelionPockets · 28/02/2023 16:55

That's great news @Ally345 ❤️

Yea, it will definitely pass and you'll feel better. Take it easy.

Did anyone experienced tummy tightening so early on ? I'm only 13+ weeks only after little bit of housework could feel my tummy hardening, not painfully but a bit of discomfort. My belly is already on larger side, maybe it has something to do with weak muscles?

Owlgirl14 · 28/02/2023 19:37

@DandelionPockets Glad you're feeling a bit better. I'm ok thanks, symptoms appear to be less on an evening.

I've got a bit of a bump and then bloat too. It's becomes more obvious throughout the day and hiding it at work has been hard as I'm quite slim. I've told my manager though and a few close people. Hoping I can hold off a few more weeks until people start to notice. I'm quite a reserved person so haven't been running around telling everyone.

Owlgirl14 · 28/02/2023 19:39

@Ally345 Glad your scan went well, I measured ahead at 13 weeks at mine too which was a good feeling slipping nearly a week 😊

Oh sorry to hear you're poorly, I hope you feel better soon x

ILookAtTheFloor · 28/02/2023 19:53

I've definitely had some tightening and I'm 14+2.

Actually starting to feel more myself! Which is good on one hand, anxiety inducing for me on the other as I worry things have gone wrong! I just can't relax this time.

Owlgirl14 · 28/02/2023 20:15

@Moni81 I haven't felt tightening as such but I did feel quite uncomfortable last night. I'm nearly 15 weeks so not sure when round ligament pain or tightening kicks in.

Preggobelly · 28/02/2023 20:42

This is my second baby and I’ve been having round ligament pain from around 11 weeks. My muscles definitely aren’t what they used to be 4 years ago 😂

Congratulations on everyone’s good scan news! 💗💙 I had my scan today and all went well! I got an NT of 1.9 and she said that was well within the normal range. Hopefully won’t be too long until my results come back.

DandelionPockets · 01/03/2023 09:51

@Owlgirl14 same, only told HR and my manager but I think my belly is starting to give the game up. I just don't want any attention and people asking questions 😂 I'd like to just tell them the day before I leave for maternity but obviously that's impossible...

@Moni81 definitely feeling some tightening over here, and have been for a few days. At 14 weeks now.

@Preggobelly congrats on the happy scan!! ❤️

Owlgirl14 · 01/03/2023 15:33

@DandelionPockets Yes same, I can't be doing with all the questions and most conversations about being pregnant 🙈

I'm hoping I have a few more weeks before it becomes obvious. I want to get back into my dresses but can't at the moment as they are all slim fit and will definately give the game away. And not sure how much longer I can go wearing black maternity jeans and more loose tops either without raising suspicion 😂
