@allgoodthings84 aww I love that tho, at least you have a firm countdown to b-day!

Definitely had a pick up in movements this weekend, partner still can't seem to feel them from the outside though yet. All that belly insulation and anterior placenta I assume 😂

Hey guys, I have a benefits question. I'm so disheartened my partner has left me and I'm due 1st of September. I work full time and will be taking maternity leave from August. I will only be grtting 173 pounds a week for my maternity pay. I've never claimed any benefits before and I feel so lost. From July I will need to move in with a friend temporarily. What am I entitled to as I will not be able to afford life at 173 pounds a week and can't live in my friend's place with a baby :( any help appreciated thanks so much

allgoodthings84 · 24/04/2023 13:36

@Babybear12 I’m so sorry you’re going through this. My ex husband left when my daughter was 1. You need to apply for universal credits. It’s based on how your circumstances are now though so if you’re living with a friend until the baby is born you may need to wait until baby is here and you’re in your own accommodation before applying but it does take up to 6 weeks to process your claim but you can get an advance (to be repaid) if needed. I would give them a call to ask when is best for you to apply. When the baby is here you will get help towards rent (not mortgage), personal allowance and the child element. Then some will be taken off for what you get in maternity pay. Will you be on SMP and still employed?

allgoodthings84 · 24/04/2023 13:39

@DandelionPockets it’s definitely more of a countdown now 😂 I actually went shopping yesterday for some baby clothes. It’s been so long since I’ve bought for a baby. My daughter is 8 next month and so excited and would spend all my money on baby clothes if she could 😂

Moni81 · 24/04/2023 20:31

@allgoodthings84shopping for baby is so exciting, although I have hold myself back not to buy too many outfits until baby starts to walk, it's hard as they are so cute. From experience it was mostly baby grows and vests at the begining, plus it will be mostly wintery months initially so indoors. I completed stage 0-3 shopping, got vests and baby grows 20 each should do, so I don't have to wash constantly. Got it on vinted bundles, mostly next, M&S, John Lewis as they was well and you can still get them in great condition second hand. Also various pramsuits for different stages and seasons. Then went on shpock and arranged collection for steam steriliser, Tommie tippee prep machine, bath tub with stand(saving my back this time lol) all look very good condition and only £10 each lol....I love how I don't have to spend fortune this time and get all nice stuff😁👍

allgoodthings84 · 24/04/2023 22:45

@Moni81 ahhh nooo I only spent £25. I don’t bother with outfits until they are 6+ months as they always look so uncomfortable. I got some sleepsuits and rompers in first size as I know most people will buy 0-3 and this baby is unlikely to be big. I’m only small (5ft) and was 5lb3oz when born (1.5 weeks early) and my daughter was 6lb12oz but 8 days late and this one will be nearly a week early. This baby’s dad was born on his due date at just over 7lb. I know it doesn’t mean anything but all this along with the fact my bump isn’t very big suggests it’s not going to be a large baby. I had no clothes to fit my daughter when she was born as newborn was too big even 😂 but I don’t want too much first size as won’t fit that long.

Moni81 · 24/04/2023 23:33

@allgoodthings84 yeah it's always confusing with size, my first daughter was very slim and 0-3 was a bit baggy at first, second one chubbier and went into 0-3 no problem, both in range 3-3.6 kg, so not massive just average. I also got 6 pack in up to 1 month just in case, will buy more of needed later. Luckily in this pregnancy I have 3 more growth scans at 32,36and 39 weeks so will have better idea about size. I am not sure big bump means big baby, well hope not lol. On 20 weeks scan she was only slightly over average at 53 centile and 335g weight ....but my belly at 21 weeks feels huge🙈

allgoodthings84 · 25/04/2023 13:43

@Moni81 the growth scans with my daughter weren’t even slightly accurate even 😂 they predicted her to be 7lb 10oz at term but she was 6lb 12oz 8 days late! I don’t trust those either. Nah big bump size definitely doesn’t necessarily mean big baby as lots of other stuff going on in there but as my bumps are small they can’t really be massive or wouldn’t fit. The sonographer told me at 20 weeks scan that this one is over the 10th percentile so they aren’t concerned but she’s not at all big so I’m thinking she will be like my daughter.

I’m only 5ft nothing and people at work are only just noticing that I’m pregnant (at 22+3) and most just thought I’m getting a bit fat until I told them 😂 I have no idea why I seem to have small bumps as I’m so small and I don’t have a long torso at all. All bits of me are short ha ha. So no idea where they hide as even at 41 weeks my bump was only measuring 30 weeks. In theory I should have a huge bump. It’s not my stomach muscles either, they are definitely ruined ha ha

allgoodthings84 · 25/04/2023 13:44

@Moni81 your bump is lovely

Ally345 · 26/04/2023 12:01

Just had 21 scan today, all looked fine and so great to see her little face.

Big relief to have this milestone complete and will start buying stuff soon :)

In and out for blood tests almost every week at the moment between itching and iron issue, but high risk due to pre-existing issues so think they are just being cautious, which is reassuring.

Hope everyone is doing good.

isitaline97 · 27/04/2023 11:25

@Moni81 @allgoodthings84 I'm short too, 5ft, 1. My bumps seems to change throughout the day! Sometimes it looks huge, sometimes it seems tiny 😂 definitely getting much more consistent movements now too which is exciting.

@Ally345 congrats on your scan! I hope your doing okay, reassuring that they are checking you so much though.

hereistopositiveenergy · 29/04/2023 22:15

We've found out today we're having a little girl!

Now I feel like it's going to make it a little easier to get things together as I was struggling with neutrals as most is always white. Tomorrow will be looking on Vinted for some bundles and as we've decided to keep it a secret from friends and family til she's here, savour this time knowing together!xx

Moni81 · 30/04/2023 08:02

@hereistopositiveenergy congratulation and welcome to girls club 🎉
Talking shopping on vinted, I already completed 0-3 months shopping there and probably went over the top lol but at least saves me time on washing constantly. If you take your time there are great bundles with Next, Mothercare and John Lewis sleepwear which are really good quality and you can get them like new. Some pretty pramsuits, outfits etc...although I know there is not much use for them up to 6 months but couldn't resist and still got some warm sets with trousers and tops. Enjoy your shopping and also recommend shpock for bigger items locally. Only this weekend I collected steam steriliser, milk prep machine and bath tub with stand in immaculate condition for literally £10 each🙈

Moni81 · 30/04/2023 08:05

@hereistopositiveenergy I meant 0-6 months, I plan to rotate clothes on vinted as soon as baby outgrows 0-3, so needed 2 sizes upfront to keep me going.

Tasnimxx · 01/05/2023 17:11

Hi all.

I’m not sure if my previous message sent.

I hope you are all well.

I am 21 weeks and have not felt baby move that much. I felt some flutters few days ago but nothing ever since.

Can someone let me know if this has happened to them at the early stages? I know nhs says 16-24 weeks but because I already felt some movement I was expecting it to continue.

cinnamonbiscuit · 01/05/2023 19:50

@Tasnimxx hello! Try not to stress, I was experiencing similar(I probably posted here about it) at 20/21 weeks. I think at that stage the baby is getting big enough for you to feel movement but if it changes position the movements can suddenly die down. I’m now 24 weeks and baby has become big enough that the movements are more consistent.

Have you had your scan yet/do you know where your placenta is positioned?

froglou · 01/05/2023 22:10

I'm 22 weeks and movements are occasional but not regular. Also still not very defined either. My 20 week scan was all fine so I didn't mention the movements being iffy as still a few weeks before I need to be tracking them. However my placenta is too low so I've got an extra scan mid June and mid July to check it's moved. I keep going to look into north plans and then getting worried that it'll end up as a section anyway.

Becu · 02/05/2023 00:32

I'm 21 weeks, 1st pregnancy with anterior placenta, still not feeling the baby either. I'm told it's normal and I shouldn't worry but it's reassuring to hear I'm not the only one! It's kind of annoying when family/friends ask if I'm feeling it and the answer is still no...

Tasnimxx · 02/05/2023 07:26

Hello. Thanks all! I have had my 20 week scan and there was no mention of anterior olacenta so I’m assuming I don’t have it. Hopefully baby will make its move soon!

allgoodthings84 · 02/05/2023 08:12

@Tasnimxx it should be on your sheet of notes that they give you after the scan. They usually tell you where it is so you’re aware either way but should be on those notes. I have an anterior placenta and have been feeling kicks since 18 weeks but they were not very often at first but it’s my second. I feel her more often now at 23+3 but at 21 weeks was very sporadic

FarmBaby3 · 02/05/2023 20:19

Tasnimxx · 02/05/2023 07:26

Hello. Thanks all! I have had my 20 week scan and there was no mention of anterior olacenta so I’m assuming I don’t have it. Hopefully baby will make its move soon!

There was no mention of where my placenta was lying with my first two pregnancies. This time they said anterior placenta but I've had the same level of movements and timings of first movement with this baby as I have the others.

Londongirl87 · 03/05/2023 18:30

Hi! I had a scan today at 23 weeks to check my cervix at the preterm clinic and since everything has been stable for the past 10 weeks, I am now discharged and can go back to normal checks which is a big relief!

The consultant looked at my 20 weeks scan results and said that the abdominal circumference was a bit small (9th percentile) so she booked me for a growth scan at 28 weeks. Obviously a bit worried but she said the anatomy of the baby looked all good and this could just mean that she is a small baby. Has anyone gone through this in this pregnancy or a previous one?

cinnamonbiscuit · 04/05/2023 20:51

@Londongirl87 that’s great news about your cervix length! That’s one less thing to worry about.

I’ve not got experience with small babies, but at least you’ll get to see baby again on a scan soon. My first baby was 95th percentile plus for everything, and this one is much smaller , I think femur length is 27th percentile, which was surprising. Hopefully as it’s still within ‘range’ your baba will just be petite!

allgoodthings84 · 05/05/2023 14:27

Just had my first midwife appointment (in person) since my booking in at 10 weeks. I’m 24 weeks tomorrow. She checked my urine sample, blood pressure and checked baby’s heartbeat. She also gave me my MATB1 form 😊. She said in our trust they start measuring fundal height at 28 weeks as it’s still a bit early to need growth scans based on that measurement as yet. Got my 28 weeks appointment booked while I was there

Moni81 · 05/05/2023 16:43

@allgoodthings84 I didn't want to wait to get my maternity form until so late and I'm glad I didn't as in week that I suppose to have it I have 2 other hospital appointments so a bit much and moved it a week further. However I just booked myself with midwife at GP after 20 weeks scan and saw her just to get paper, she wasnt pleased lol but who cares. Luckily I get lots of hospital appointments because my assigned community midwife seems to be miserable cow.
